- I realise that it might be easy to misinterpret what I'm saying here, but for the avoidance of doubt I am in fact looking forward to the NX; I'm just not ready to bury the Wii U yet.

I agree, the WiiU is a underestimated masterpiece that doesn't need any changes. The NX will probably be for the people who don't want "Wii" in the name of their system because it reminds them of any bad games made for the wii, and any bad controls, alongside the graphics in comparison to other systems.

I think that in the last few months of Iwata's life, he was wanting to set the ground running so when he passed everything was settled within Nintendo.
So that is why Nintendo announced the NX information when they did.
Yes this has had a detrimental impact on the Wii U but I look at it from another angle.
For the families with young kids getting games for the original Wii, they could start getting games and the Wii U when it comes down on price just before the release of the NX.
Plus it had to be vague information. Nintendo does not reveal their cards about an upcoming console until the lead up to its release within the 5 months before retail release.
The Wii U may have a price drop during 2016 after E3 when the release window is revealed for the NX, so it would be time for families with young kids to take advantage of this.
The Wii U may be underrated, but there are people who love the system and they can support it by buying the remaining games that would be released this year.
I'm sure Iwata could have passed things along without it needing to go public. Its just a shame as the Wii u is a really good console but a lot of people don't seem to care much about it anymore because of the NX.
