My favourite raga of Ravis. My son was conceived to this and so it has special meaning to me, beyond its sublime playing. To me at least (and I am a professional uilleann piper) Ravi Shankar was the finest musician I have ever heard. Thank you for putting this on RUclips..my original LP is sadly scratched from so many playings. Vale, dear Ravi.
If the video effects are used the right way they can complement the music. But, I think they give the wrong idea about Indian classcial music -- Our music wasn't intended to be "trip out" music. Quite the opposite actually. The practice of Indian Classical music is like a form of meditation. Drugs is an afront to meditation and an afront to this music. I don't want people to misunderstand our music and culture. Thanks for uploading this. I enjoyed listening to it
That is awesome; I agree Ravi Shankar is absolutely one of the best musicians of our time; the magic in his music goes beyond that of most any other that I have found so far.
"Drugs" are teachers. I chose these visuals as these are similar to the lights INSIDE my head that I see while relaxing my mind with my physical eyes closed, I do not require drugs to see this; sitting relaxed results in this, and I find the visuals pleasant. My art work deals directly with my "Drugs" (See: Power Plants.) experiences, which are far more intense then some simple geometry morphing it's shape and form. No worries, my pleasure. This music helps me be more mindful while painting.
I have always wondered if the effects of Salvia can be induced naturally... I think that sun light reflecting off water aimed at the forehead might do it... It strobes red, yellow, white sort of thing when the eyes are closed or opened even...
I agree with you totally; smoke weed every day and it's a sort of nice relaxing thing, smoke it once every few days, and it's like every drug ever.... This much I have learned over the years... Sometimes it's time to be stoned for a while tho I am sure, and others to not be so one can get gonged... lol
I do respect and agree with your desire of not wanting to be connected with the 'druggie culture'; as even those who use power plants for their intended use do not want to be associated with junkies and that either. Sorry if I came across too strong there, mushrooms and LSA have provided some valuable insight into Life for me, and kept me on a peaceful and constantly expanding path. And it is very benefiting yeah, almost cannot even listen to Western modern music at all any more... lol
with drugs its harder to retain understanding once the effect wears off. personally I prefer meditation but hey even coffee and marijuana are still 'drugs'
Drugs can knock you out of a fixed mindset allowing you to preceive 'reality' differently. The problem is that rather than using them occasionally people start get 'hooked' on the great experience which usually has a diminishing return. The more use, less effect. You'd be better using drugs than Osho (lol), but you can attain what you are searching for without drugs. But, it takes time & effort. I'm not anti-drug per se, but you better watch out that it doesn't take you to a bad place. :)~
Osho is a charlton! And his use of intoxicants eliminates him as a person to leading others on a spirtual path. Try the old fashion way, meditation! It will take you longer but will not be subject to all of the pitfalls of the 'easy road' of drugs. I'm not against drugs per se, but it is bad advice to suggest they are valid shortcuts for anyone who is past the inital point of discovery. Good luck on your path~
Be careful with 'strobbing' it can induce 'fits', no matter purpose. When you ask someone who has 'discovered' a new 'reality' through drugs, ask them what they see and what they've learned from the experience. I have never heard anything from users of drugs that makes me think they have any valid answers. They talk a lot of shit, but when you analyse is later, you find that they can't explain it and it their experiences are ephmeral. Quick drug experiences would be great if they worked.
I agree that Osho is a charleton, but do not agree about 'old fashion way'. Drugs are the original Path of the Ancients, I asked to be taken on that Path when I was young, and all roads led to Mushrooms and LSA, which are frankly, abundant in nature. God's telephone. They are tools tho, and must be treated with respect, you don't run around acting like an idiot with a chainsaw, do you? =P

Very nice to hear people outside of India are benefiting from this music.
Standing ovation for Ravi Shankar.

Stop looking at it then... =P
That's cool.
I'm not making any judgements on people's life choices.
I'm making some clarifications about a common misconception about Indian music.

There is no true meditation, meditation is just isolating yourself from the world and problems with it.
