This is what happened to me! I was diagnosed with a tic disorder back when I was young when I actually had OCD. It took years to figure it out, but I'm glad I finally did.
Thank you for all this information. My daughter has been diagnosed with OCD anxiety and recently with ADHD as well. It had been a long road and managing is hard, so I really appreciate your information.
My 6-year-old son just started having tics and OCD rituals. We're trying to learn the difference between all of it because this is new to us. Thank you for this video it was very educational. I'm eager to watch what else you have on your RUclips channel.
I’m glad to hear it. Many adults actually reach out to me and tell me they benefit from my videos. Everything I talk about is advice and suggestions I would tell adults too.
First, thanks for these videos! As of yesterday I started noticing my 11 year old daughter doing this kind of throat clearing yell. She does it random. I know she has other ocd ticks like rubbing her fingers and feet like 50 times she says it depends on what it is. I'm going to get her into the Dr. Asap. What's worrying me right now is she says the reason she feels the need to do the shouting one is if she doesn't she feels her chest kind of gets heavy. So she didn't say it was a mental feeling exactly.
I've got a weird one: points bother me. Knives, corners, even drawn pictures of points, corner, needles, knives etc.. My sisters jeered at me, calling it a phobia. I told them, "I'm not afraid of them, they hurt my eyes." This has gone on since I was a very small child, I am 63, now.
I take rounds of prednisone for autoimmune disease. Both that and ocd started VERY young. Prednisone almost completely eradicates the OCD and lasts for about three months and then starts creeping back in... anyone else?
I would love some feedback about my boy. He has had tics since 18months after suffering burns to 10% of his body so i guess it is a trauma response along with genes. They have waxed and waned....he is now 12 and he has many going on....usually a predominant one and now he has a predominant eye blinking nearly every second he does this weird blinking. He can't get to sleep and tells me if he doesn't do it his eyes burn and hurt. I tell him to resist and explain the ocd but i fear it could be a tic or tourettes and if so am i telling him the wrong thing? He gets so angry with me because they hurt so much if he doesnt do it. We are waiting to see a neurologist but I'm curious to see what others think? I'm trying not to buy into it in the evenings when it's rearing a more ugly state but it's becoming very disruptive. Thanks
Great video!! My 8 year old daughter recently started to talk to herself and make funny facial gestures and its hard to get her attention. We call out her name or ask her to do something and she keeps doing what she is doing and finally after a while she replies with a short answer and back to doing the self talking and facial expressions. She says when we ask her that she's thinking about a movie like reenacting or thinks about someone from the family. When we ask her why do you do all that she says I am fine or I am thinking. Is this an OCD?
@@ellygriffith4094 Thank you. After I had posted here a week later she was diagnosed with Autoimmune Encephalitis and that is what caused the psychosis. After 5 weeks in the hospital and monthly outpatient infusions she finally improved and everything she was going through disappeared.
I have ocd behaviors, depression, anxiety, adhd and tics. My dad constantly denies my tics and tells me that a new tic is not allowed. I asked him for gloves because I punch things and it hurts and I explain it’s a new tic. He then says “I’m going to make a new tic where I start shooting meth”. I don’t know what to do.

I’m not a child but your videos pertain so much to me and still very helpful as an adult.

It is good to have it assessed. Many kids with OCD will have tics as well, so it can be hard to tell the difference.

Is this an OCD?
This could be maladaptive daydreaming but I could be wrong

This is very helpful. Is there any way I can contact you with question? How did you find a good Dr to diagnose etc....

Go talk to your doctor and get help
Is smelling fingers and other things a compulsion?
It can be - put it is also a common tic.
Look at why rather than what.
can't you have both ocd and tourettes... my boys do?
Definitely. In fact that is a common comorbid condition to OCD. But, sometimes what parents call “tics” are actually compulsions and not tics at all.
ASMR?
