    What is Humidity?
Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air. Most people only care about room temperature and overlook the importance of indoor humidity, but the humidity in your house is critical to the health of your family members. According to Mayo Clinic, if the indoor humidity is below 30%, it can lead to serious health problems.
Understandably, there are a lot of people who wonder “how do I fix low humidity in my house?” In this video, we’ll provide multiple solutions to this problem so you can enjoy a healthy and comfortable household.
    What Causes Low Humidity?
Weather is a major cause of low indoor humidity. In particular, during the winter, the air both outdoors and indoors is cold and dry. Cold air carries less moisture than warm air, and when it’s heated upon entering the home, its relative humidity is reduced.
During summer or in arid climates, people often use indoor air conditioners, which are another cause of low humidity. Have you ever experienced that your skin is drier when sitting in the air conditioner? This is because the air conditioner eliminates excess air humidity during its operation. If the water vapor in the air is too low, it makes the skin feel dry when in the air-conditioned room.
How to Increase Humidity in a House
The natural way to increase humidity in your house is to simply acquire some more houseplants. You might think that plants are just decoration for your house. However, numerous studies have shown that if you grow some kind of plants such as rosemary, lavender, mint, peppermint, etc., you will enjoy fresher air in your house. This is because these plants work to filter indoor air, balance moisture, and even help prevent mold.
If you’re looking for an alternative to plants, the best and easiest way to increase humidity in your house is by using a humidifier. A humidifier is the most useful device to help the indoor atmosphere retain the appropriate moisture, but there are a lot of factors to consider.
    How Does a Humidifier Work?
Humidifiers are devices that emit steam or water vapor to increase moisture levels in the air. Humidifiers work by generating fresh moisture. Then, water flows from the tank into the water tray, where it will be absorbed into the filter. Dry indoor air is quietly drawn through the filter absorbing the moisture while eliminating dirt, dust, and pollen. Afterwards, the fan disperses fresh, natural moisture into the air. When the room air has reached the ideal humidity, the device will automatically stop the humidification process. This keeps the room humidity at a constant and desirable level.
