- In this video, I try out one of the top performing teams from the Global Challenge II, a huge online Wi-Fi tournament! This team features the classic sand duo of Tyranitar and Excadrill. It also has a lot of other fun picks like Rocky Helmet Salamence, Corviknight, and Assault Vest Okidogi! Sand is really underrated right now and Excadrill in particular has a very good match-up into common Pokemon like Flutter Mane and Raging Bolt!

The double protect into all those flinches with a crit on top was hilarious. You can't even be mad if you lose in that situation.
Have never played VGC or even owned a Pokemon game since original Diamond but I sure have binged everything you've put out in the last ~9 months recently. Also really cool to see a super wholesome community around your channel, def not the norm in my experience lol, cheers.

One of the most unique Pseudos as far as typing goes. Like 90% of them are dragon types. Really love the Kaiju design but my favorite is Salamance. I'm a big Gen 3 and ORAS fan

Lowkey makes me really happy to see a team like this doing well. I started with Shield and I didn’t have online. But I did Battle Tower RELIGIOUSLY and my go-to’s were Dillon the Excadrill and Rex the Tyranitar. They were so fun to use, the two are my little guys. That easily cemented Excadrill as my favorite Steel-type and T-Tar as my favorite Psuedo-Legendary.
Dude I've been cooking up something very similar to this and I'm stoked that someone figured it out. I had the same thought! "Excadrill just counters Raging Bolt and hits most common Reg F pokemon for super effective damage. Why not put tera stellar on it and sweep?" so sick. One of my favorite archetypes ever and even though it's low power right now I love seeing it succeed in some way.

I was so happy when raging bolt first came into the format. Perfect counter to water urshifu that was a menace since HOME. Now Raging Bolt has become such a bulky nuisance, it’s good to see cool niche teams like this to counter it. And the timing for this team is perfect since Articuno was resurrected in the snow.
That dragonite on battle 8 almost felt like it had a kings rock with all the flinches at the end lmao

Fun fact, king’s rock doesn’t affect moves that already have a chance to flinch, so it wouldn’t change iron head’s flinch chance

Amazing to use this team with all the hail teams going around now. Tyranitar being slower than Ninetales helps you control the weather and leads to interesting mind games.
Man I completely forgot that using roost makes you weak to ground type attacks.. this game is so complex!! Thanks for pointing that out man
you just lose your flying typing in the turn you used roost in. Your secondary typing determines if you are weak to ground after.

I imagine they meant "susceptible" and simply weren't nuanced enough in their phrasing.
Only corviknight becomes weak to ground because he is steel, every other flying will take neutral from it, earthquake however does double damage to a Pokémon using dig

My underrated pick right now is still Kantoian Weezing. Its seen some high profle creators like Wolfey sing its praises but he is still extremely underrated.
I just built a ttar drill sand team, so this timing is perfect! I’ve got mandibuzz, prim, klefki, and sinistcha as the others, but this gives me some insight into how to play. Thanks, Aaron!!
QOTD: Dedenne is always my go-to mon, it's been my favorite since XY. Nuzzle/Electroweb are great for speed control, and it can be surprisingly tanky with Sitrus Berry/Cheek Pouch. My opponents tend to target around it since they don't see it as a threat, so it can stick around on the field for awhile.

This team has to be one of the most balanced teams I've ever seen built
Don't know if anyone pointed this out, but could not help but notice that the Okidogi on the Pokepaste is Tera Poison, but the one used on the team is Tera Flying.
I felt like ranking up this season with a rental. Went 4-0 with this team and got to master quick. Very good team

I LOVE seeing sand in the modern meta! Turns out if you don't experience even the most timeworn strats for a while, they feel fresh again.
My favourite underrated pick right now is excadrill, i actually made a sand team with it but i might build another one similar to this one
For everyone who wants to play this team on showdown, be aware, that the Tera Type on Ogerpon is wrong and you should change it to flying :)

QOTD: It’s not THAT underrated, but I think Gouging Fire is really good with the howl set. Of course, it struggles because you have to choose between Booster Energy and losing to Incineroar or Clear Amulet and losing to Lando, but with a few howls, your team can go off.
I also think Primerina is pretty underrated, because it can deal water damage ignoring Ogerpon’s follow me, and has a good matchup into both Urshifu forms, but it is a hard life out there when the most popular Pokémon is grass and your fairy competition is Flutter Mane.
That Dragonite set is very very common in japanese teams. You can find almost anything on the last slot: I've seen Haze, Encore, Extremespeed and Tailwind, but there are options like Roost, TWave, even Leer lol. Also, it's often Multiscale instead of Inner Focus.
Does a Careful Nature work too? It's already naturally bulky and I'm also considering running Bulk Up.
Someone needs to do the math of the double protect and bazillion flinches plus crit from the dragonite. That was insane.

Isn’t wiki berry kinda hurtful for corviknight tho? since it’ll confuse if your a -SpA nature and he’s using impish, i get the healing but i think a mago, aguav or iappa better would be good to heal without confusing
The corviknight is dragon on the hatena blog post. I think theres an error with the team share. Not sure if they changed it or what

So many little things like that coming from other games plus better animations (imo) make S/V very special. Kinda sad to see that they weren't able to completely optimize the game
Sorry if I missed this being explained, but did the team creator explain why Poison was the Tera type chosen for the Amoongus? I tried translating the team report and all I saw was something along the lines of "you should probably change this Tera type"
I speak Japanese, he doesn’t mention on the team report (or at least in the Amoongus section) why he chose Tera poison, and he said he thinks a different Tera type would be better.
He also said he uses it mostly for the TatsuDozo matchup, which makes the Tera choice even more confusing tbh
@Endershock1678 I interpreted it mostly as "yeah I just didn't bother to give it a good Tera lol" which is understandable if it was just meant to be a quickly thrown together fun team for the Global Challenge.
Wow that banded +4 terrakion 1 shotted ttar and corvi! You could've taunted whims that turn1 to limit the prankster moves to 1 but there was no way corvi survived that. My reaction was the same to yours actually as its not even a critical hit. That was real damage right there 😅

Shouldn't the wiki berry on corviknight confuse it with its impish nature, or am i missing something?
I was using this team and ran into that exact problem on Showdown but it didn't happen in the video
The Corviknight's nature might have been changed in game. So the Wiki berry would have been fine for the original nature, which is what matters in-game for taste.
@@Entropy32767 yeah that was my guess too. In the japanese team report the nature was impish, same for showdown but i don't think we saw the in-game stats of corviknight. But i will just stick with this explanation, thank you.

Game 5 was nuts
my favorite underrated pick atm is tyranitar probably, sometimes it slots into teams so well
Not sure how underrated it is atm since I haven't played in a little bit, but Glimmora's one of my favourite picks because I think people don't expect it to deal as much damage as it can do. I feel like whenever I used they just ignore it until it's taken out 2 or 3 pokemon, throw in getting Meteor Beam and it's just such a fun pokemon.
It’s straight up one of the most popular special attackers atm and I believe is on the single most popular team comp right now in all of Reg F, which is Tailwind Special Offense with Flutter Mane and Chi Yu according to Labmaus.

How would you play this team into kommo-o with iron defense? I struggle a lot with that matchup once kommo gets +2 defense
Use a combination of Taunt Corviknight and Clear Smog Amoonguss to disrupt it while using the attackers to KO everything around Kommo-O. Not an ray matchup though

Quick note: The paste in the description has a Wiki Berry, which confuses if it's a minus SpA nature, which the Corviknight seems to be, so I'm not sure that's particularly ideal?
Also, the Okidogi is Tera Poison instead of Flying
If I had to guess, the Corviknight might’ve had a Nature mint to what it currently has. If I remember correctly, the confuse berries work based off of the original nature, not the minted one?
Honestly atp amoongus is hard countered by whim that ogrepon seems like a must to get around the beat up strat

I’d consider dropping Draco on Salamence in favor of Fire Blast. It covers your weakness to Corviknight and the only Mons who resist both flying/fire are universally weak to ground, which is the primary offensive type for this team.
Im surprised i haven't seen more Salamence sets designed to take Surging Strikes. Obv its a volatile meta for Mence but it'll eat them better than Torn
It was a very popular anti meta pick in Reg E, but rn, Urshifu Water isn’t very popular, Ogerpon and Raging Bolt is better for the job anyways, Tailwind in general is kinda weak, and relying on special flying stab is uh… not great.

@@sapnupuas__not exactly. It’s called Conceding, Conceding is just straight up admitting Defeat. It happens in TCG’s all the time. This being a Turn Based RPG is the same thing. If an opponent knows they’ve lost they’ll Quit. If it was a Rage quit it would’ve continued the turn then disconnected
@@DrkNabbit5230 no, you can concede whenever you want and it says the battle was cancelled. The disconnect means they broke off from the internet or closed their game and there was a time last gen when you could get away with avoiding a loss by handling it right; my understanding currently is a disconnect of any kind results in a loss so I don't get why it happens so frequently
Why does wiikii berry not confuse corvi when its a -spA nature?
Berry confusion isnt tied to nature it's tied so a preference like doesnt like bitter or whatever. While those tend to match up with natures if you change the nature with a mint they still keep their old preference.
In short the original nature wasnt confused by wiki berry.
