- Composition by Gustav Ernesaks (first composition done by Aleksander Kunileid in 1869), lyrics by Lydia Koidula. This song was first set to music in its new composition 21st July 1944 in Leningrad, Russia. It was first performed at song celebration 1947 by the author itself.
"Mu isamaa on minu arm" (My Country is My Love) became the unofficial anthem during the Soviet occupation when her father's (Johann Voldemar Jannsen) "Mu isamaa, mu õnn ja rõõm" (My Country is My Pride and Joy), the anthem of the Estonian Republic in 1921-1940 was forbidden. Koidulas song always finished every festival, with or without permission. The tradition persists to this day.

Lyrics:
My Country is My Love,
to whom I´ve given My Heart.
To You I sing, my greatest happiness,
My flowering Estonia!
Your pain boils in My Heart,
Your Pride and Joy makes my happy,
My Country, My Country!
My Country is My Love,
I shall never leave Her,
even if I must die hundred deaths
because of Her!
Does the foreign envy slander,
You still live in my Heart,
My Country, My Country!
My Country is My Love,
and I want to rest,
to lay down into Your Arms,
My sacred Estonia!
Your Birds will sing Sleep to Me,
flowers will bloom from My Ashes,
My Country, My Country!
brings tears to an old aussie estonian

Estonia the Baltic Tiger - it is a excellent documentary about Estonia in YuuTuube.
Duo Ruut plays there back.
Such a beautiful and emotional song, and a very beautiful language too. Peace from Malaysia! 🇲🇾🇪🇪
Estonia and Serbia forever!!!
Greetings from Serbia!!!!
Branislav Vajzović Greetings from Estonia
🇷🇸 + 🇪🇪
Serbia is a terrible place thousands of Estonians were sent to Serbia to death for nothing Serbian people are not bad but some are and that is very very bad
@@fxbigtoelilzoui1696 i think you might be confusing Serbia with siberia
Yes very bad mistake.
@@fxbigtoelilzoui1696 its alright everyone makes mistakes
So beautiful, such a nice and peaceful people. Greetings from Portugal.
Inimesed laulavad koos. Erinevas vanuses. Erinevatest rahvustest. See on tõeline ühtsus. Armastusega...
Extreme cordial greetings from Krakow. You are such an honourable example, Estonia. I can only understand the English translation, but I can feel your soul!
Cant stop crying. What a valiant people! greetings from Hungary
I am from Austria but live now for more than one year in Estonia and love it... definitely will visit next laulupidu in July 2014...

Nope, 2023
It was obvious that this was a sacred experience and I am honoured to have seen it.
This video is absolutely beautiful. The history of this country makes me cry. Music really does save.

I will be in the czech republic this year and i hope i do be able to join this great great event...
today i watched the documentary, the singing revolution and i couldn't stop myself crying.
Oh, ma armastan Esstimad!!
I am from Germany and am exchangestudent in Estonia and I already love it!!!
I also love Estonia, estonians and estonian music. The estonian people have suffered verry much during the Sovjet okupatoin. They were sent to labour camps, prisons and psyciatric hospetals becouse they wanteded there freedom. Now they are free nation. Eesti, Eesti Eesti.
Why this is not Estonian national hymn? Greetings from Finland.
It really should, the song is beautiful, also the lyrics. I love Maamme's lyrics too
Very high singing skill required, high vocal range (2 octaves)
Because the tune of "Muissama, mu on ja room" is originated in Estonia
Because the original anthem is "Mu isamaa, mu õnn ja rõõm" composed by Friedrich Pacius and Johann Voldemar Jannsen?
Probably Finland should also use Sibelius’s Finlandia Hymni. But the current national anthem from both country is probably the one that strength both countries relation together
Ma väga armastan EESTI HÜMN🇪🇪❤️
Küll on ilus laul!
this should be your national anthem...beautiful! and always sung with such passion,
vive Estonia!
Beautiful....................
It was wonderful to actually be there and hear it, but it's great to have a good quality video :)
I have to say that Ants Soots did an excellent work as the song was accurate, had depth and sounded very magnificent, which is very hard to achieve.
Thanks a million for the posting!! :D
Is so touching!!
BEAUTIFUL!!!
Greetings from Belgium.
Freedom!!!!!
Great song!
Greetings from Sweden
How can our spines not tingle to this?
Is that Aarne Saluveer at around 2:09? Wonderful musician!!
+Sally Whitwell
Yes, it's him. You are right, he is really a first class musician.
@VaDiskovich I am estonian and i love all nations, and i truly belive that in one day, if we are worthy we can make difference, global singing revolution, a revolution for mankind and its freedom.
I so much want to visit this country and experience Laulupidu.
See laul peaks olema hümn.
I would love to visit Estonia! I have heard the Estonian National Male Choir perform with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Paavo Jarvi (an Estonian). I met a couple of the men in the choir, one of whom is Erkki Targo.
I'm going to live one year in Estonia next year and I'm so excited about being able to feelt the Estonian spirit! Can't wait to be there!
mathiiilr Where in Estonia? :P
Jaagup Paat Ma elasin Rakvere lähedal:)
Oota kas sa oled eestlane või mitte?
+Jaagup Paat that small country to the south of Finland
@VaDiskovich
Thank you!
Yes it is beautiful song and I love it!
Thanx for support and I hope we live friendly forever!
I do not how say it russian but budem šit družna
If I had to choose a person from history to get married to, if I were a girl, he would be Henrik Ibsen. But "mu arm", my love, is Lydia Koidula, my beloved Koidulaulik. If I was a magician, I would make her come to 2013 and be my couple. A women with such sensibility should have been an amazing wome to love. Greetings from Catalonia! :')
Malači Estiņi!
Tervitused Lati!
olen kaugel Eestist-kuulan laulu ja pisarad voolavad silmist-väga ilus laul
Great song! Evokes the patriotic spirit! Great people! A fraternal greetings from Georgia!... By the way, I live with my Estonian girlfriend!..
Mu isaama means: My fatherland! And the translate is a little bit wrong...
See you in 3 days!
Ei suuda nutmist lõpetada. Soomes olen elanud juba 7 aastat aga kodu on alati Eestis (: Kohutavalt uhke !
@moop65 No it's "ja peaksin sada surma ma" so the translation is correct.
Where can I obtain sheet music of this arrangement, please?
in 2014 in Tallinn ;) pure and close excitement...
Actually you should start booking now
❤2025❤🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪
Sadly I cant make it this year! :(
Hello my estonian friends! I have a question. Are all people in your counry with white or blond hair? Thanks for answers:)
Fantsastiline :) tänasel Iseseisvuspäeval :)
Hehe well a lot people yes have blonde hair but come on ofc not all of us have blonde hair :'D I myself yes have but a lot people have brown hair too c:
not all, but Estonia do have highest number of blonde hair and blue eyes per capita in whole world
In my country slovakia there have people brown or black hair, but in east slovakia there are 30% gypsies and they have black hair, eyes and brown skin color.
i given 4 oath to estonia, but ppl song is 5.
Estonia is beautiful white country
Who isn't? ;)
I hope no one would say that "isamaa" (fatherland) is too shovinist.
LATVIA
Nõus c:
Who's going to Laulupidu 2014? :)
minaminamina :'D
:)
omgg ma olen ka siinXDXD
Nope evryone has red and blond hair only
🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮❤️🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
