he sings "he will be water to drink" for her, but Coraline is afraid of water, she won't accept any help, that's so sad
omg i never thought of that
oh he's such a genius
yes damiano is great with the lyrics... expecially in italian, his first language, you got it brother, the song is very deep
I had my old aunt listening to CORALINE and she told something that gave me shivers: you could hear the guitar crying during the solo… so as you said that is when all the emotions explode
That's on point. It also resembles the mental breakdown of Coraline that leads to the final part of the song
uncle or aunt ?
@@violetshark yeah Aunt sorry
The song describes in a fairytale way the real story of a girl who is abused both psychologically and sexually by her father and who, in the ending, suggests that the girl dies ... the final text of the song, the part of the castle, is a very strong metaphor .... a castle with high walls represents a place of isolation or even a prison, a mental institution .... but the part of the walls is the one that reveals the ending ....
"Le han detto in città c’è un castello
Con mura talmente potenti
Che se ci vai a vivere dentro
Non potrà colpirti più niente
Non potrà colpirti più niente"
"They told you there is a castle in the city
With such powerful walls
That if you go to live inside
Nothing can hit you anymore
Nothing can hit you anymore"
In prison or in an institute there is no peace.
"the castle" where you can find peace, serenity, a place of rest, a place where there is no longer suffering or pain ...
think of the walls that delimit the cemeteries here in Italy, think of the peace and silence of those places .. the powerful walls where everyone finds peace..
💔💔💔😢
correct.
Grazie, non avevo colto la sfumatura finale.. estremamente toccante
in any case, as stated many times from the band, this is a true story. Pbviously the band won't reveal the girl's name.
Don't forget the part where they say "ha perso il frutto del suo ventre", she lost the fruit of her womb, which basically means she lost a child
I'm obsessed with "vent'anni"
Me tooo
Same here & also Parole .. ! :)
That's indeed a very beautiful song!
Same here... I can't stop listening (not that I ever wanted to 😉)
bless you. reminds me of myself at 20.
CORALINE is probably the most beautiful of their ballads… and thanks for reacting to this.
I recommend another ballad VENT’ANNI again with English subtitles
Not just beautiful , amazing !
The meaningful lyrics , the vocals , the intrumentals , wow, wow !
I'm a guy and I was balling my eyes out listening to this , work of art , sheer poetry .
It's my favorite song of Maneskin.
A masterpiece !
Ragazzi spettacolari!
So, the interpretation that is most widely accepted is this being a story about a girl who is abused and raped by her own father, who develops anxiety, depression, anorexia, agoraphobia and on top of that she also miscarries/have an abortion. The person telling the story tries to support her in any way they can just to see her smile once, but in the end, she can't escape this abusive relationship. It's still unclear if the castle refers to her own grave, an asylum, a women's shelter or just the prison of her own mind.
Such a sad story!
Yes i'm totally agree with this interpretation (also listening to the Damiano's interviews)
I think she is dead. I had this feeling.
The Castle is the city cemetery
Google "Verano Monumental Cemetery". That's the castle the song speaks of I think, it's a famous and large cemetery here in Rome that has massive walls
Damiano is the writer. 21 years old, impressive.
22* but yeah it's still so impressive 😁
@@user-tm5iz2bg9q maybe not when he wrote it
Obviously 😒 /J
Massimo Pellegrini.....siamo parenti???🤣🤣
CORALINE is a masterpiece.
Måneskin write their own songs and Damiano writes the lyrics. CORALINE is one of the most touching rock ballads of theirs. A lot of people could relate to it.
Your reaction was so on point, except for the last part but it's due to a mistranslation. The verse about the father actually means that "she has a father who is everything but a father to her" this can probably be interpreted to mean that her father does not treat her like a daughter but instead is the monster that was referenced at the beginning of the song.
Actually in the italian lyrics the verse says "ma un padre che di padre ha niente" which by roughly and litteral translation becomes "but a father that has nothing like a father" meaning that Coraline doesn't see her father as that for if she would look at her father she only would see the monster that her father is
@@WinterJack15 If we want to be pedantic, it says "Ma un padre che di padre È niente" and considering they're from Rome and the way people from Lazio speak I reckon the best translation would be "She has a father that is nothing like a father"
@HamelinSong right the correct translation is a father who’s nothing like a father
I like this song because is like watching a movie. A very sad movie.
Welcome to Maneskin :-)
They are very versatile (and young 20 to 22yrs..). There's a lot to explore, any song is different.
Next you can try e.g. Vent'anni, Le parole lontane, La paura del buio (all with lyrics) - basically there is no bad song.Or you want to go to their english songs like I wanna be your slave, New song, For your love...
Maybe you want to check out the Radio Italia Live Concert - they are incredible live
The song is about a true story but told as a tale because the band didn't want to talk about the real facts and left to the audience to interpret the story as they prefer. From the fan grapevine we knew Coraline (name of fantasy) was a young girl abused by her father who ultimately killed herself.
Realizing that as I read the comments. How terribly sad
Il vero nome di CORALINE era GIORGIA❤️❤️❤️🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
The guitar solo... in this song... are... THE TEARS. It's figurative art. ❤️👌
Tomas ha influenze di Jimi Page e del chitarrista degli Hot chili peppers
The guitar solo is definitely my fav part of this song. It has so much emotion in it that i can’t really describe.
I like the guitar part. It actually made me feel like someone fighting through the pain and gaining strength to keep going.
This song gives me shivers. Music, instruments carrie the emotion so perfectly and you feel it even if you don't understand the language... Its just perfect.
Every English speaking reactor uses this translation, but it actually has a lot of errors. Many of them are minor, but there's one at the end of the song that basically doesn't allow the listener to understand a key part of the story. When near the end the translated text says "who is a father of nothing" should have actually been translated to something like "who is nothing like a father". This should, in the end, clarify what was actually Coraline's main problem.
My mom heard the song and during the guitar solo she said you can almost hear the guitar "crying"
I feel like the girl that "Coraline" talks about ended up commiting suicide, because in the final refrain ( where the rythm is not intense anymore... the last lines ), the song talks about a castle that will protect her, and nothing will hurt her anymore. Suicide is probably the "cure" this text is about. It's like if this girl suffered so much that suicide was an happy ending for her, but not for his lover. The tones and the music in general become more and more intense as it goes on. The voice that is talking is the voice of the lover with a broken heart.
As for the father, for what most of the people understand, it is the story of a girl abused by her father and decided to lose her baby.. there is no a happy ending unfortunately, we know that for sure as Damiano told it (related to a real story, the girl name just was not CORALINE) . It is not clear if the girl decided to end her life or got interned in a psychiatric asylum
nope my friend.. the castle with high walls where nobody can hurt her is the cemetery and the place inside is her tomb...unfortunately this story is a real story of abuse

@Sten On Damiano said that this story (it is based on a real story) has a sad end
You just put into words the reason I'm listening to this song o repeat. I relate to it a lot and the build up, the guitar solo, it's kinda cathartic!
Damiano is a poet! 👌
Time for "Torna a casa", official video, another masterpiece of Maneskin!
The comment about needing that guitar solo at the end, just to kinda feel and decompress, really hit home for me. I think it also does for a lot of people who have, at some point, felt like Coraline. The first time I heard it, that guitar solo was just where the dam walls broke and I cried over what I'd just heard. Now it's something I'll never not think about!
That english translation is not accurate, but at least it gives you some clues about italian lyrics, that are very poetic and fit perfectly the music 🙂
Great reaction, you are a Pro 👍
You will find every MAneskin sort of different in genre.. that is why i like calling their style FLUID ROCK always changing in style but not in quality
Hi!
They can pull off funky sounds, pop, glam, alternative rock, Damiano has flow so he raps too, they can do ballads and so, really, they can do whatever inspire them! They like a lot of different genres. This allow them to get extra creative! I'm in love lol they are so versatile! ✌️✨🤟💯
I love what you said about the guitar solo. Completely agree with you!
MEANING OF “CORALINE” AS TOLD BY DAMIANO
( the singer)
It’s our fairy tale, the story of a little girl who can’t find her place in the world because she’s too pure and fragile. It tells, through a sweet melody, a journey that gradually becomes more and more distressing, that seems hopeless. [...] “Coraline” needs a clarification: it’s not the story of the knight saving the damsel in distress. The story ends badly, there is no happily ever after. It’s something real, it’s the withering of this flower, of this girl, and the knight is helpless and powerless in the face of what is happening. As for the name Coraline, it’s not inspired by the cartoon, by the film. The choice of the name is purely musical, phonetic. The story is a real story, one I will not talk about right now, turned into a fairy tale, and everyone can interpret it as they wish.
I was wondering if you could tell us about that story that its based off, maybe, thank you
His girlfriend got coraline tattooed on her arm, so it might be about her.
where did u see this?
@@xrcoraline Its from 1 video when damiano says it, some interview
@@levil8309 I never find this interview I'm so sad 😔
You need that guitar solo, it is the guitar weeping and crying for the people!
And the Father line said that he was father of nothing, meaning that he wasn't really a father and the castle is often interpreted as suicide.
Hey congratulations for ‘always on my mind’ cover
I dedicate this song to my 20 month old niece (a twin) who was a victim of her father’s drug use and caused her death from traumatic brain injury while in his care
So sorry to hear that!
Tragic, sad to hear about this.
He was high on meth at the time and meth was also found in her toxicology report.
Oh no! I cry so much for your niece! We can only hope she is living and experiencing infinite heavens, happy and loved
@@karindella 😔😭
I’m happy u understand the meaning of the guitar solo here....others reactions makers didn’t understand it..cause of lack of empathy...great job bro
This Band is unbelivable. They are so young bit so many good Songs!
You should check the vevo performance of torna a casa and la paura del buio from radio italia live....the live versions are always superior because of the emotions that damiano gives to his performances. He has such a raspy but clear voice.
"ln cambio non chiedo niente soltanto un sorriso/un po' di tempo"...Wish my girlfriend could understand a line like this.
I just wanna say you have an amazing voice😍 your lower register is gorgeous
they write their music and lyrics ... incredible talent for their age
Decisamente incredibile.. Coraline merita il Grammy Award!!!!!
Wow powerful song amd lyrics and insightful review by yourself....love the the way yiu explsined the guitar solo too...my compliments
To me, the guitar solo is like her rage and impotence because she wants to leave but she is unable to do it.
This song just give me shivers.
I'm italian, so in understand the words, but my favorite part is the guitar.
It's so fucking emotional, like it's crying out of pain.
And the last part? The castel, is so relatable to most of the people, even if in different ways. Like, for me is when you're so scared to leave a place and try to feel better, that you end giving up, and remaing in that condition anyways.
Another thing: i feel like this song is about someone that has depression. They're in a horrible condition, but they has someone (in this case the one who's singing) that cares about them. But, they doesn't have the courage to try to rise up, and try to be happy again. So they remain in that mental prison and condition, and no one can actually help. In the end, the castle is a metaphor of death. They feel like the only way they can find peace is by killing themselves, and that's what happens to them.
Just a personal interpretation, even if i don't have a depression problem, but i feel like it's relatable to people who suffer from this.
Coraline is the fake name of a real person,a friend of damiano that he tried to help, she was abused by her father and at the end she committed suicide,he dedicated this song to her. The castle is just another name for the cementery, the grave, where now she can't be hurt anymore.
really such a beautiful song..
Beautiful song. I was focusing on the drums during the guitar solo. 😁
You have such a nice voice! ❤️
Great reaction, great song, difficult to top 'Coraline' in terms of darkness, lyrics and melody. Difficult to top by any band/musician. Any further song from Maneskin will feel lighter now... I love Vent' anni, lyrics video please !!
This is a Masterpiece!!!! Wow
Thank's for your reaction! This song 😢 #Måneskin ITALIA ♥

Super 🎸❤️
I love your right interpretation of the song, whaiting for next reactions ; PS: Please, take a loock at "Torna a casa"
your voice is amazing too
My interpretation of this has to do with maybe sexual abuse from her father figure but I don't know, it gives me a lot of emotions, as I have been raped repeatedly by my ex boyfriend (that may make my interpretation a little biased towards rape) and I think the part where he says something like I wont ask anything in return is to make her feel safe and how he can be a support without asking or wanting anything, especially because that is what traumatized her
I’m so sorry that happened to you, I hope you’re feeling better ❤️ I feel the same about this song

Best and of course a professional view of this song so far.....
This song is regarding a father's abuse, based on a true story of a friend of Damiano, whose name he didn't want to give out of respect...in fake name, "Coraline".
the story ends in the most tragic way possible: Coraline dies after an abortion and will be figurally locked up in a "castle" where really no one will be able to harm her anymore,
namely the monumental cemetery of Varano, Rome, called by the locals "the castle".
Hi Brad!, first of all congratulations for your comments always very professional, I would like to point out a cover of these guys made a cappella in Modena (11-03-2018) is called Pyro, I would like to have your reaction on this (we also consider the age 'of these guys still in the "grass". Thank you! Best wishes.
They are great ..... they are Italian ! You should listen also to Little Pieces of Marmalade ( 90 rock and roll) Ciao
Wowwww you can sing man!!!
Woooooowww!!!😍😍😍😍
Bravo
Questa canzone la sento tanto mia, depressione e ansia. E' forte, potente. Unici i Maneskin!
I feel this song so much mine, depression and anxiety. It is strong, powerful. The Maneskin are unique!
They are lit
Can you pleeaase react to their performance at the italian radio, they sang their song La Paura del buio?? It's AMAZING 🥰
I suggest you to listen to all their latest album "Teatro d'Ira" ☺
Che bella voce che hai, bravo!
Damiano è il nuovo genio della musica
the name of the band in english is moonlight
The castle Is the cemetery 😓
Perhaps Verano Monumental cemetry in Rome...
I think the word...she lost the fruit of her womb indicated her lost her baby before deliver and the castle is metaphor of safe place that she wants but too weak to leave her monster (father or husband) cage in the beginning of the song.
I don't feel lost, I just don't know where it ends the sea that I carry inside and sometimes I drown
Please listen Torna a Casa!!
you have to listen "for your love" and "vent'anni" translate in english.
What a cool voice! Yours, I mean ;-)
Damiano, the lead singer, writes the lyrics of their songs and they all together write the music. As for this song, in an interview they say that the song is inspired by a true story but they never talk about it. In another interview with Damiano's mother, she says that Coraline is actually a representation of the band: Victoria with her anxiety and panic attacks, Damiano with the eating disorder he suffered from, Thomas and his unability to sleep and Ethan and his anxiety from crowds, etc. Not sure how much of it is true but either way, it's a beautifil song.
And @BradSteele, you should listen to Torna a Casa as well. Another incredible balad

Victoria, the bassist is half Danish
hello from Denmark 🌸🌱
about the pronounciation: the å is pronounced like the o in 'dog' but it's a bit longer. the intonation is on the å
Hey it says the original video is private... what does that mean help
Just with the intro i liked him, i vibe w you.
She lost the fruit of her womb...has a father who's father of nothing. I interpret this as she having suffered sexual abuse and her father adding insult to injury by blaming her for what happened, which makes trauma turn into despair. Good reaction, bro.
The song Also says that her father that was worth noting told her that there is a castle that if she goes to live there Nothing will hurt her. But people think that the castle is a cemetry. He basicaly told her to kill her self😔
Other than the usual valuation of the song... Maybe its just a stupid thing but...
I also think this song, despite dramatic, represents a good message for the women. All the women across the world.
Despite all the odds life reserves us, there's always someone that can help or just listen them in these sad moments. So its a kind of invitation to not despair and dont give up in front of the worst situations.
Assaulted by the father, she keeps her life away, the walls are the graveyards that in Italy are surrounded by a wall.

The story is about a girl who was abused by the father but was unable to get away from that abusive household , and there was no way to help her , at some point she was forced to have an abortion ( she lost the “fruit of her womb “ ) that could have been the result of her fathers rape or maybe the baby she was expecting from her bf . In the end coralline dies , she kills her self as she has found a place with Giant walls where nobody can hit her anymore ( the cemetery ) ,so it’s not a happy ending story .
The whole song is about the issues of them (Victoria lost her mum when she was 15 and suffers from panic attacks, Thomas is afraid to show who he really is , …)

Coraline was a girl abused by her father, she commetted suicide at the end. A sad true story
Please, watch the exibition in sanremo festival. It's someting crazy... 2 days ago. You will cry every single second.
I suggest you to watch “torna a casa “ , but first read the translation . about coralline , the translation is not perfect , to literal , dimmi le tue verità should have been translated with “ tell me your truths “ , the fruit of your womb in English doesn’t make much sense , the result of your womb mains would have been more understandable . Meaning having a miscarriage or an abortion
