I have to giggle. Kaylee, I have a biology degree and used to spend literally hours looking at a square yard of ground with my two little girls finding different bugs and plants and also doing crafts. You may giggle about being a trad wife, but being a wife and mother is the most satisfying thing! Blessing you all!

The deck is beautiful. I wasn’t sure I would like the brown paint on the boards but was pleasantly surprised that the “brown” paint turned out to be terra cotta instead and matches the porch tile perfectly! Well done!

The cable strung through the railing uprights is genius! Nice job! I suggest that you put sections of rubber garden hose over the turnbuckle ends to prevent injury if someone (Sadie) accidentally bumps against them.

The deck looks great but as important, the wire railings look brilliant. I would never have thought of doing that. Jordan, you are a genius, its annoying because you never stop, all day and all night but still hae a ton of energy. However, trust me, you need to rest more or when its time to enjoy it all, you won't have any energy.

I don't know why I love watching your adventures so much because I'm living with the same one over here in Costa Rica but I guess it's because I see somebody sharing the joy of living in the jungles. My son, 24, gets crazy excited every time he sees a new insect, a big insect, or something new, he'll call me and I always go running. We love it. Probably the biggest change that living in Costa Rica for 10 years now has made in my life is I respect snakes, I don't kill snakes ever, I respect 98% of the insects, I don't kill them I relocate, outside of scorpions and cockroaches they must die.
I literally love tarantulas with the passion, I protect them, they are the most valuable predator for me as well as the Wolf spider.
And because currently I'm in a flare of my auto immune disease I'm sitting in bed looking out to all my beautiful flowers in the front, watching birds come and go for my pond seeing all the insects and the hummingbirds it's just a joy to live in paradise.

The deck, railing and deck color are all exceptional... fantastic job, well done!!! Kaylee, I love my vitamix. I've had mine since 2018, and have used it consistently (7 years) 2-3 times each week, for smoothie bowls. I cannot live without it. Love seeing Sadie live out her awesome childhood makes my heart happy. ❤.

I noticed something after you cut the first cable. You installed the Crosby upside-down. I was taught the saying "never saddle a dead horse" to remember that the saddle end of the Cosby should not be on the dead end of the cable. It can slide loose this way. For your railing, it's probably fine, I just thought you should know before you build something suspended where it matters more.
Washer, lock washer, then nut could be better for the long run ;)
I should add, that the deck looks great and I love you used turnbuckles. That cables look good.

Sadie is such a joy to see! Her vocabulary is so “old”! I can’t tell you two enough what great parents you are. She’s being exposed to things that children in the states wouldn’t even think about. They only know social media and it’s a shame. Back in the day, when I was a child, I spent my summers in the “country” with relatives who didn’t have indoor plumbing or even a tv! I loved it! I collected eggs in the mornings for breakfast and vegetables afterwards for supper. Everything eatable was grown on their farms. We even had a freshwater spring where we got some of the best tasting water out of the ground! I’m so grateful for my life so I know how much fun Sadie is having. Please continue and thank you for letting f me tag along.💕

You guys are my weekend morning coffee favorite routine and enjoy watching all of you evolving as family and remind me of how I grew up just like you just across the border on the North side (CR). JORDAN if you get to read this message PLEASE use a respirator, every time I see you cutting the cement boards I cringe and worry about you, Silicosis is a serious disease, you may be cutting outdoors but you can be inhaling the dust and it does not take much overtime to become a problem, so KAYLEE you need to become the safety manager and enforce the rules to not get complacent as I believed women have more persuasion and common sense then us men. Thank you for showing us that hard work and perseverance and enjoying the simple things will make us understand the meaning of life, You all are my inspiration to go back to my roots when I retire and again please think safe before doing something a couple of minutes will make a big difference.

I was just rewatching episodes from your road trip and want to suggest your next project as playground features for Sadie! You could start simply with a swing set that could safely entertain her for hours every day. Ultimately, I imagine you designing a fantastic playhouse. Your place is looking so beautiful! Hey Jordan & Kaylee! Your deck looks beautiful as all 3 of you contributed. The hardware used on the horizontal wires (can’t think of the correct words) look very sharp. Children are always in motion, running, jumping, hopping, riding bikes, etc…..my concern is: someone might fall onto the hardware and shred their skin! Love the video! not sure if anyone has commented on this or if its an issue because its just a barrier. But in NZ I was taught you never put the saddle on the cut end of the wire ( you never saddle a dead horse) was what I was taught by old school guys who built suspension bridges on our walking tracks. Deck is looking great :)

That best DIY from scrats is you where the week points can be and how to fix them, and thanks to you let Sadie help on the way she can, she also learn a skill than not many kids get to learn in USA so you all shall be very proud of your family, and your extended family there on the mountain in Panama.
Railing looks great, porch looks great - I'm not an expert, but just from Sadie's size, you might want to double up the railing on just the two lowest levels for optimum safety, so the gap is just too small for her to roll through. And it wouldn't look bad I think.

Rail looks great. Id suggest to avoid cuts or anything from the ends connections. Get some of the electrical wire shrink wrap. Heat Gun and seal.
It's too late now, but a little bit of clear heat shrink tubing over the and of the wire looked back after it's been put through the clamp really helps to clean it up and also avoids having any sharp edges for little hands to get caught on It only needs to be an inch and a half long or so just to hold the end of the cut cable down against the cable
