RDR 2 is the culmination of everything rockstar did with the highest budgets and devs giving it their all for 8 years, which resulted in the most detailed and lively open world yet and one of the greatest storylines in gaming, the fact that big name devs like todd howard, eiji aonuma and Cdpr ceo comparing their games to RDR 2 just speaks volume on how high rockstar has set the bar with RDR2, i only hope that GTA 6 comes remotely close to reach that level of quality.

I’m in the 1% that 100% completed the game.
Your spot on in labelling this game a Masterpiece.
    It’s not a game, it’s a work of art.

My main complaint with RDR2 is some of the missions are aggressively in a game which is also meant to be a sandbox

Yeah the missions are stupidly restrictive, they give you so many options in the open world but main missions
Christ it might as well be max Payne 3

It didn’t really bothered me that much tbh, open endedness come at the cost of the story 90% of the time, this is an area that immersive sims deeply struggled with, yes the mission design do contradict the sandbox but the story is top notch so it gets a pass from me.

The control scheme is one of the worst in gaming. You can't keep both thumbs on both joysticks while riding the horse, make the horse sprint and simultaneously rotate the camera, shoot, etc. Unless you do some sort of stupid claw grip no matter how much you customize the controls, they suck. Not to mention this is another game with the rock star clunky janky movement. It feels like your guy is always falling forward with momentum. For those two reasons alone, this game gets a 7 out of 10. 😅

I did play on pc so i had the luxury of keyboard and mouse but i feel you on that, the controls can be a pain especially when so many actions are mapped to one button but you only have so many buttons on a controller :/
