- Hi everyone! This week we finished laying out the paint on the Ford Econoline boogie van project, and then we sprayed some candy on there and cleared everything! I also took a few minutes to try my luck at fixing one of the old " buzz coils" for the Model T, so let's see if she'll start!

Hi Scott.
Hey guys, finally got my stickers. Man, those guys are a trip, I got like six emails sayin they were coming..sometime. They came through in the end though so cool! Now I gotta figure out where to put em.
Oh my Lord, that is stunning! Absolutely gorgeous!!!
Bravo on the Boogie Van "piece de resistance"
Man thats a beaut paint job Scott! Totally dig the 70s vibe. And with the pait tech of today that beast should still look that good in 30-40yrs! Hope yoy have an awesome weekend & keep warm!
Once the boogie van is finished, It will need to be in an art museum.
That old phrase, "Like watching paint dry." Well let me tell you if I was watching paint dry like what's being put on the boogie van, I could watch it ALL day long. Every week something else comes along that makes me speechless. And it's only on The Cold War Motors TV Show, with the most talented ensemble cast on RUclips. So there!👍🚍‼🌊
AMT/ERTL Cold War motor's "Boogie" Van! Features - Fender flares! Custom graphics! 302 "Windsor" V8 with chrome valve covers! Side pipes! Cragar mags! Oversize tires! Tear-drop custom windows! Custom interior!
i absolutely agree with this statement or how about "Hey greenlight cast or hot wheels look at cold war motors boogie van."
We shall not look upon it’s like again!
The Boogie van is the greatest project ever to see the light of day at CWM! When time has rendered the vehicle useless, I hope a panel will hang in an art museum where future generations may gaze upon it! THE ARTIST: SCOTT VANGO🤣🤣🤣
@Roger Francis I dunno, I think they're both stunning examples of high craft.
Roger Francis the Fury splice will not be believed in the future these ‘old’ cars will be enigmas
I did see that VAN GO.
When Ashley gets the bill for that paint job he will have to give you the van and 20,000 dollars.
The Econoline colors are fucking beautiful man, so soulful, rich, warm and outright stunning. The paint is everything good about 70s Socal custom vans.
You hit the mark
Bodacious Boogie Van......Looks great! It is a Fantasy Fabulous Flavor Favorite. My Dad told me how kids in his neighborhood would get old Model T coils and charge them up and then shock unsuspecting friends.....not sure how they did it but it was a prankster trick of the day for sure. Frankers looks marvelous as usual with Canine Coiffure visit. Scott, thanks for sharing all of your artistry and talent.
This update is absolutely great! It is interesting: I tried hard to figure out how the flames would be sprayed. But it was only at the very end I could figure out the way they were already set in your artistic brain.
I never ever met anyone like you with so many different talents when it came to work on cars. I met genious wizards when it came to mechanic, body or painting skills, but no one was a master in all fields like you. I am amazed every time how incredibly patient you are doing your work!
After over 8 years of tinkering I finally have my 65 Pontiac Catalina registered and roadworthy. But it is far from being sorted out. I bet very few people are aware how painful and endless it can be to get a car back on the road: I hope by next spring we will see your Fury project finished and admire the car shining in all it's beauty back on the road! Thanks for letting us learn and participate in your great work!
Scott, WOW. The boogie van is over the top. Your talent is endless. I lived through the 70's and had a classmate who had a rich Dad that bought him a '75 Chevy new. I remember it having "Bow Tie" windows in the back corners , it was the envy of many of us as was the green metallic paint. When you said you were moving the "T" I thought the '59 Fury might be coming out at least for a walk around start up, maybe??? Thank you for my weekly entertainment and education. My wife now watches over my shoulder.....
Boogie Van is looking absolutely outstanding. The van and/or bassboat of my childhood dreams!
Bonus points for using Fonzi as an adjective in a sentence.
The week is complete.
You should have a contest “name that boogie van” with all the subscribers.
I’d call it “ gold insanity”.
Best name gets a CWM coffee mug or something .
Love that van!
This van looks like it should be in showroom. Great job.
I am not sure how you envision a paint project like that and then turn it into reality but it turned out incredible!
It just doesn't matter how many times you watch, how can you not enjoy the Boogie Van, the T, Light Buzz and....... Citroen. Nobody beats variety like that. Cheers!
As a child of the '70's theys vans were everywhere. Really enjoying seeing the creation of one of these paint jobs, thanks.
Jesus, man! That van looks like it came out of Los Angeles in the 70-80's and the cover of Low Rider magazine or something! Very sweet! Very much looking forward to some more work on the Fury.
We have here a black obsidian box with a seamless French inlay of kingwood and tulipwood a la Louis XIV in a style called "Bong Baroque." Until this very moment, I have never in my life wanted a van. Now I don't know that I'll ever be truly happy without one. Masterful!
I am 65 years old and I remember the 70s you've done a great job on that well done 😀👍👍
Mick, i cant help it, but i have to say it, if you can remember the 70's, you probably didn't do them right. I'm kidding, I'm a coupla years younger than you, and i remember 'em too.
Who knew you needed to be a carpenter *and* an electrician to repair the ignition on a Model T. ;-)
That van, though. OMG!!! Ho Lee Schitt!! I simply cannot believe how amazingly BEAUTIFUL that paint job is!! The detail work that you have to do to get it to turn out that way -- so fascinating to watch you work. I absolutely love it!
I just touched up my truck topper with a rattle can- came in to see this going on- I feel like such a loser! Fantastic job!
“If you’re going to make it.
Make it beautiful “. (Bob Emser. “The Art of Boatbuilding”)
Awesome.
Dude! I'm blown away by your paintwork on the Boogie Van. It absolutely blows my mind how you have the knowhow and talent to do this. Great job! I can't wait to see the final steps before seeing it outside in the sunshine. I love watching your videos and I've watched every one (some multiple times). Please keep them coming, they make Saturday night my favorite RUclips video night of the week.
Wow - you and Ash knocked it out of the park on that boogie van paint job! The ultimate essence and feel of the 70's -- but much better!! The lines, the detail, the depth - and then layer on at that clear - art work right there! You are an artist my friend!! Can't wait for the finished product!! Take care!! Give the menace a pat for us!!
Boogie van paint, simple as long as you can mentally picture in 4 dimensions at once. Buzz Coils sounds like a film character from an early 50s film.Got a silver DS for my daughters wedding car, stole the show arriving at the church.
A real masterclass. If the boogie van doesn't win multiple awards then there is no justice in this world.
Loved the special painting episode! It's my second favorite episode after repairing the creased fender on Jim's Mercury, what a masterpiece of metal work that was. I've cued up that episode so many times to show my friends the crease repair I'm sure they're starting to run scared when they see me showing up with the iPad! Excellent work as always, Agents!
How often do you you tube and see the detail in a paint job , then a incredible DS and then a model A ... Scott is quite the artisan . The power of thought and skill sets of people . Canadians don’t have the shear volume of cars and equipment that USA has and you get to see it hear Alberta grown ...that’s amazing Scott 👍🇨🇦👍
Boogie van looks incredible! Whoever gets the job of doing the interior has their work cut out to do the exterior justice!
Boogievan is absolutely phenomenal . she needed her name on her somewhere in some 70's custom lettering done in gold flake. i love the old vans.
This us THE MOST AMAZING Paint Job ever, quite Staggering to think this is mostly the work of one man Scott Master Craftsman his skills are absolutely AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so confused. Lol
How you keep every level of taping under control and memory, is unbelievable!
Cheers to all!!
Skills
The custom paint on the Boogie Van came out spectacular. You hit the 70's custom paint theme spot on. The graphics are very cool. You and the agents that helped are top men. Job well done.
You can hear how rough the flake is by the sound of the pencil. I can see why the tape doesn't want to play ball lol
That paint job is truly something else. All you have to do now is spend your life making sure it doesn’t get scratched.
Ah man, as soon as Scott started laying clear on that paint and I could catch a glimpse of what that van is gonna look like once finished, I started having butterflies in my stomach! I'm not kidding! Love those colors and effects!!!!
that paint job is SEMA award worthy
The big van masking reveal was quite something. Seeing all the madness at once, worth the wait. Such depth, amazing that only four colours were applied to the van, it looks like so much more. Such taste? Did I say that? It's so darn...tasteful, while simultaneously being ridiculous. Can't wait to see it all smooth and sanded and out in the light.
A WICKED AWESOME COOL paint job! Miles of tape and paper! Master craftsmen makes it all look great ! I am going to try me another flake job on my motorcycle again after I find a new gas tank! THANKS FOR SHARING! Way to go Scott!
Painters like you used to keep painters like me humble! Lol! Can't wait to see it in the sun!
You are a true artist. That masking job was beyond words. I knew it would pop under some clear. When yore done, it will look 3 feet thick. You'll need longer screws for the door handles. Really enjoyed the Model T segment. Always enjoy your videos. Cheers to you all.
Some people will try to tell you the skills, artistry, imagination and craftsmanship ably displayed in this episode are a thing of the past. Well next time someone tells you so point them to CWM. Fantastic work, a real treat on a chilly lockdown evening in the UK
Ken Sherwood: Scott is a treasure trove of skills both past and present. Wouldn’t you hate to get the bill for all the paint work on the van?
Dear Scott N.
👍👌👏 Okay, Sir, now it's official: You are an alien! You simply have to be because this paint job (quality and design) is definitely out of this world! Good grief! Maaan, what have you done?! It's nearly unbeliiiievably fantastic, simply marvelous. I can hardly wait to see the finished van in the sunlight or even better: on white snow! It will look pretty damn amazing, even more in winter. Like the coolest and at the same time hottest 1970s spaceship on this planet. NASA has area 51, your place must at least be something like area 52! Congrats, congrats, congrats!
Thanks a lot for making teaching recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health to all of you (including Francine of course).
Postscriptum: Nice job on the coils too (of course and as always). 😁
P.P.S.: I simply love Citroen DS and dogs. The shown car and the big poodle are gorgeous.
CWM has just raised the bar on Boogie Vans AND their painting skills!!!! Incredible transformation.
Excellent job on Model T coils too! New parking area coming along nicely. Keep your stick on the ice!
JT
Of course we enjoy the custom paint job video !!!! It's Highest Skilled Art Work at its best !!!! Where else would we be able to watch this fantastic work being done????
The van is gorgeous it really reminds me of when I was a kid and all the custom vans we used to see. When its done it will need to be in a magazine layout. Its the best one I've seen in a long time. You guys do amazing work.
Knocked it way out of the park. You sir have done tremendous talent. Beautiful beautiful work.
The Boogie Van is one of those vehicles I'd be terrified to drive. It's like a rolling Michelangelo Sistine Chapel ceiling now. One fender bender and I'd die of a heart attack. 🤣🤣
Imagine what it will look like when the sun hits it. It's a show stopper. Cheers
Holy crap I guess nobody ever told you you're not supposed to use a 3 mm tip 64 oz HLVP gun as an airbrush. Absolutely brilliant work of art.
Model T, Citroen Godess, Fury, AND 70s Boogie Van excess! 10 out of 10
Hubcaps! Panels! Greasy flips & painting tips! A weekly dose of Canadian friendship! #ColdWarMotors on air 📺
1971 called, they want their van back! 👍🤣🤣. Nice to see one done the way we used to do it!! Beautiful work.
The panels and flames get so complex! I cannot imagine how he keeps the various shapes and colors sorted out! Just amazing talent! I do feel like the Fury is forgotten;..... and then Scott teases the "Jetsons" interior install!
You sir are an artist. Million dollar paint job. You are a true Renaissance Man.👍
WOW !! Holy Mackerel ! I have'nt seen a van done up like this since the 70s-80s! Its beautiful. My compliments. From the 'old geezer gear head'.
This is real artistry going on here.
Cant believe anyone besides me remembers lace paint jobs.Going to paint back panel of my Corvair lace checker board.
I shot lots of lacquer through lace, and layered with metal flakes and translucents. 70s it was the thing.. Also, smoke layers from acetylene burn, with clear over...
I want to try it on top of my gasser
Low riders in CA used this painting techniques for many years. Beautiful!
@@chuckstith838 Still to this day it's used on the west coast.
There is a car local to me in Newmarket that had the paint shot through the lace, a fantastic detail!!
Love the Boogie Van! Scott, it looks and sounds like you understand Art and Design theory. Retro all the way...Just like Downtown.
Me: using a shoestring as a throttle cable on my old flat fender to get home. You: laying down a 20K paint job for a friend because you can. I'm glad I got home, it was worth the watch. Cheers!
Scott, you are killing it with the Boogie Van paint! You should post some stills on Instagram, I’m certain the subscriber numbers would jump just from exposing more people to this beautiful paint work on the van.
Just saw your Instagram post - nice!
That van is totally outrageous! It is almost too good to take outside. You my man are an artist! He is going to have to carry cones and bunting with him so when he parks outside he can keep people 5 feet away. WOW!
Nothing brightens a cold, rainy day like an episode of Coldwarmotors!
Just my two bits worth've feedback: YES. The painting feature on this van is excellent. Like a lot of people I love to see artistic creation being formed. I was doing some of my own tonight but switched on the box as it's late, only to find you tackling flame drawing -same as me. It looks smokin HOT, with those glowing lace embers ? below -and flames above (Just my take on it.) I am impressed with how it looks. Some great 3-D effects. Cheers CWMotors !
Some are really good at their jobs, and then others are masters of their trade. Awesome job.
OMFG. You are a master Scott. Ashley's Van paint job is FANTASTIC.
The process of painting the van has been mesmerizing,...so cool!
Scott, you and Ash make a great team. The workmanship at CWM has always been outstanding but painting is where the artistry becomes very apparent. Very impressive paint job on the Boogie van. Nice to see "The Dean" make an appearance and Frankers is looking good too. It seems to early for Winter.
Scott, that’s an amazing piece of work, not that you’re probably looking for it, but I’m sure you’ll get inundated with request for custom paint work now! Brilliant to watch, and well explained, as always.
Oh,man the Paint on the boogie Van is just right 70th Car porn, well done,Kindly Erik Lawaetz.
The van paint. A true artist. Seen in the minds eye first.
Loved the way the Boogie Funk tune from the DS spot ran up to the continuation of Boogie Van painting!
Thanks
That paint job is trucking beautiful , it really is !
Hey thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow!!! Very, very nice. I remember hearing you say a couple times you are color blinb. The only thing I know about color blindness was when I had to look at pictures with #'s of a slightly different shade of color. I have to admit I had some trouble seeing the #'s on 1 or 2. The way I see it, we all have our own nuances which makes the world go round . as Ive heard said. Thanks so much for sharing that, Kvin.
It'd be nice if the tube had a double like button for those extra appreciated episodes!
You never disappoint every Saturday evening with your video treat. Again you proved your body and paint skills with the bogie van. True artist. Thanks.
Yes, love more painting content! The van is amazing. I’d kinda forgotten the level of detail in 70s-80s show vans. Your take on it rivals and surpasses the best of em. Great job and keep up the great work
like the funky music : ), always good to see Dean, the dog and random agents about their business. Glad that all is well at head quarters
Boogie van is amazing! Your skills become very clear when you can envision not only the color scheme, but how to do it. The van itself doesn't really do much for me, not my thing. But the panel making and now the paint portions have all my interest. Great job! The paint blows me away....Thanks for sharing
BEYOND REMARKABLE work on that Econoline!!
In the last video you said “We have fun but at the end of the day it has to look like you know what you’re doing.” Mission accomplished!
Words is not enough to express the beauty of that van ! I can say that if it was possible I wouldnt hesitate to leave any car in your hands , Scott , to be painted ! Too far away though ! 👍. Real fantastic job !
You (and the agents) are absolutely amazing. Your work is inspirational ....stupendous air brush art form...I had a van in the 70's and 80's and I had it painted......white (only) lol the Old Dodge 1971 B100. Thus oldodger !
You gotta hand it to old Henry Ford. That thing still runs sweet and they built them so robust back then. The Boogie Van looks amazing!
You are truly an artiste, Scott. If I may make a suggestion...your 70 year old self will really benefit from a good pair of knee pads. Really.
And jack stands.
Another left handed artist! Van as canvas is amazing!
I followed this series with great interest. Back 40 years ago I did some of this work free-lance with a body shop owned by an old buddy of mine. Vans and motorcycles and such. Good times. Nice work guys. Cheers.
Christ Almighty! All that van needs now is a soundtrack.
Great work Dean. You're a master with metal work and paint. Loved the bit on the Model T. Early AC radio's from the late 1920's also had their capacitors set in tar-like potting material. When the capacitors fail you often have a volcanic effect with the stuff bubbling out of the cans and oozing everywhere.
I love the Art Himsl -styled flames! You've done your '70s - style homework!
That van is going to need a waterbed in the back
Annmarie and Mike from KY say.... nice paint job !!!
I love the sound of model T coils. Very much looking forward to seeing the T get put back on the road, it will be a while before I can work on mine again so I'll settle for living vicariously through these videos.
Oh and the van looks absolutely outstanding!!!
I feel like this would be like a $20k paint job, nowadays. Looks awesome!
Watching the hand painting process amazed me. As Always you guys are magicians.
You just want to lick that van into a psychedelic trip. While you were spraying, the clear, a fuzzy song came on the radio and added some great effect. Could only imagine the hours needed if it had clamshell doors, shaved handles, etc.
Wow, that econoline van looks bloody amazing. As we say in the UK "it's the dogs bollocks" the work on it is fabulous. Looking forward to seeing it finished. What a fun project. Thanks for another great episode. I look forward to seeing these every week 😊👍
Amazing job on the Boogie Van, Scott. Actually, "amazing" doesn't do it justice.
I can stop praying now. I saw Dean. Ban looks KILLER. You are a Master.
