Are Jehovah's Witnesses Moving Towards A Subscription Model?

  • In this video, I argue that Jehovah's Witnesses already use a subscription model and tax their members for the privilege of being a Jehovah's Witnesses. I discuss 5 subscription models that I expect them to introduce within the next few years and discuss why I think these changes are imminent.

      That's the first thing I thought when I read the OP's comment. Get yourself out. There's no way to know whether another person will or won't wake up. And there's no way to know "when" that person will wake up. So, waiting around for another person to wake up simply means that YOUR LIFE IS ON HOLD. We have lost so much to Watchtower. We should do all we can to enjoy what's left of our lives.

      It's probably even worse now than when you attended the meetings. Congregations now are only allowed to keep 3 months operating expenses in their accounts. So if they have any excess they are required to send it off to the organisation so that calls for a resolution on its own. Also, most elders don't do this, but when they present a resolution to the congregation they are meant to give the audience an opportunity to ask questions. It would be interesting if someone just challenged the elders and said "let's not send that money to the branch. Why don't we use it to pay for Sister So-and-so's hospital bills."

    Sorry, are the donations for JW worldwide work and JW congregations voluntary (as bible and JW claim to bible students) or compulsory?

    • @AnthonyMorrisReturns
      @AnthonyMorrisReturns  19 дней назад +1

      @@elvenrights2428 Hi again Elven. Donations from individual JWs are voluntary. However, congregations are required to send a specific amount of money to Watchtower each month: The amount is calculated by using a fixed sum set by Watchtower and multiplying it by the number of congregation members (referred to as "Publishers"). In the UK this year the amount set by Watchtower was £5 per publisher. Congregations also need to pay for the maintenance of the buildings they use for worship (referred to as "Kingdom Halls") and also for the running of their larger gatherings (referred to as "assemblies and conventions"). If the amount received from donations is not enough to cover these costs, elders give talks and announcements pressuring JWs to donate more to make up for the deficit... as Watchtower will not cover these costs.
      Also congregations have to pay for the food, housing and travel expenses of what's called a "circuit overseer" and his wife. This is basically an inspector who visits each congregation twice a year to ensure that the elders are implementing all of Watchtower's policies.

    You are very handsome and i love your work..but where are you getting information that publishers are expected to pay 5$ per month for world wide worrk? I been in the truth all my life..this seems like your making this up 😮

    • @AnthonyMorrisReturns
      @AnthonyMorrisReturns  2 месяца назад +4

      I'm not making anything up. Please be careful about making such accusations without any facts to the contrary. I don't know when last you attended JW meetings but at least for the last 10 years they've been asking congregations to send a fixed amount each month to the worldwide work based on a calculation of a specific amount multiplied by the number of publishers. As I said in the video, in the United Kingdom for the 2024 service year the price is £5 per publisher. Obviously, this is different for each country. If you don't believe me send me an email and I'll send you the proof.

      He is correct. The elders are instructed to make a resolution before the congregation to make a fixed amount per publisher “donation”. The amount per publisher is determined by the branch. It is presented as a resolution to give the appearance of a voluntary contribution. But it always passes. And if the amount isn’t sent it every month then the elders will get a talking to from the circuit overseer. Personal donations are counted as above that amount.

      @QuëstionšnÅňşwęŕż 2 месяца назад +2

      Its a set amount per publisher via resolution but each individual is not required to make that specific amount. For example if someone makes 0.50 cents of the $5 for example they use the principle at 2 Corinthians 8:14.
      But they do have a set amount per publisher. In that sense yes Mr. Chaka is correct

    • @domaininsights

      @@QuëstionšnÅňşwęŕż This principle has never been reported to as being applied to my knowledge. The resolutions are always in favor if not always unanimous. No one wants to stand out as opposing the resolution and become singled out as a troublemaker. The point is that the branch always gets a per head amount for meeting and assembly publisher count even before individual donations are counted. So even if someone cannot afford the monthly publisher rate, they will be subsidized by others in the same congregation. It is particularly tough for families with multiple publishers. The branch doesn’t care who caries the burden as long as the per publisher rate is covered.

      @@domaininsights oh ok. I am mentioning 2 Cor. 8:14 because that what I remember hearing during the resolutions. No worries I could be wrong, I'm on the bottom of the totem pole anyway so Its not like I have any documents to refer too. Just what I remember thats all.
      Yeah your right everyone always agrees.
      Maybe all those called apostates should come back and get counted and then not donate lol.

    I did the accounting for years. The monthly accounting report is also actually fake.
    It states how high the balance was at the end of the month, but in the JW.borg accounting software the fixed monthly amount for the following month has already been deducted. So the balance appears lower than it really is.
    I saw this as an "encouragement 🙄😉" to encourage the JWs to donate more.
    BTW, is there a difference between "encouraging" and "putting psychological pressure on"?!?

    • @AnthonyMorrisReturns
      @AnthonyMorrisReturns  2 месяца назад +1

      It's crazy, right? In JW lingo "encourage" = apply psychological pressure = use emotional manipulation

    • @yvonne3903
      @yvonne3903 2 месяца назад

      So it's deducted before being paid to Watchtower? It's not income and expenditure account? You could always put a notation on accounts that they include next months donation.
      PS those internal accounts don't match any accounting conventions or rules normally adhered to.
