Brazil has always been very unfair in pageants. Although they have wonderful Miss Universes, it is unacceptable to have only 2 CROWNS this whole time. There were 6 Miss Universe runners-up!
From what I read ,Maribel was the favorite to win that year. She stayed too much on the beach and she tanned herself thus losing some points in swimsuit during the finals.
Actually, I think there have been several times when Miss USA deserved to go further but didn't for some reason. Ali Landry, Kristen Dalton, Courtney Gibbs, and Mai Shanley all should have placed higher than they did. Jamaica and Colombia have had some bad luck over the years as well.
SMH How did Greece lose in 2001? How did USA lose in 1970, 1973, and 1978? Those were 3 of the best Miss USAs ever. Miss Curacao in 1968 looks Supreme. Miss Brazil 2007 is all that!
Poor Colombia 🇨🇴 always a bridesmaid 😂 it’s funny because you would think they have a lot more crowns than they do. Especially considering how many stunning candidates have competed 🤷🏻♀️
Feel so pity and sad for Haiti and Italy they became 1st Runner Up 2x but unfortunately they have never won. Hope some countries that are became 1st Runner Ups that have never win will win the contest someday in the future. 😊😢

In 1986 it should have been Christy Fichtner, as Barbara Palacios was one of the worst choices ever. Same for Paula Betancur in 1993, almost anyone would have been better than Dayanara Torres. I also liked the first runner up better in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013, and 2018.
