Yes, Etali's trigger still resolves (as it has no targets and doesn't require Etali itself to still be on the battlefield), both players exile their top card and Vincent may cast them if they're nonland cards, as long as they don't target players or permanents. Despite what Teferi's Protection does, the player is still in the game, as are their library, hand, graveyard and exiled cards.
Came for this. The guys on the EDHREC podcast had a similar situation last week, not mentioning it is enough to sac the target to fizzle all of Echoing Truths.

-Julius and Vicente gain protection for everything -They permanent are on phase-out -The Etali's ability resolve and they reveal the top of they libraries...and if something needs to choose a target (permanent or player) can't be cast but you can still cast permanent and that permanent is on phase-in. -Zones like, libraries, graveyards & hands, have non status as like the permanents...you can't have your hand on phase. ( Sorry for the crap English, greate program and greetings from Argentina :D
The double phase out was fun but i believe that phase out doesnt affect libraries the triggers still would have gone on the field since its each player, not target so protection wouldnt work.
I got an ad at around 14:57, just after "the game is over, goodbye" I was legitimately unsure if the video just ended there for the duration of both ads.
I cant believe this timing. Just bought a Maraxus on friday from my local shop and finished building version 1 last night. Not a card I expected to see anywhere else but gave me some interesting ideas.
As a fellow Andres, that is one of the best pronunciations I've heard of the name from an english speaker. And, thinking about it, you always pay attention to the pronunciation, kudos to you.
@@kristopherloomis1476 Ok so for targeted removal you normally have "Destroy target _____" or "Exile Target ______" obviously exile is better for a lot of things. But commanders can just be put back into the command zone, so exile doesn't actually get rid of them. There are also "return ___ to owners hand" and "Put ____ on top of owner's library" which mean that the person still has access to that card but they will need to spend mana to replay it, or even spend a draw to get it from the top of library. Again, if it is their commander they can choose to move it to the command zone instead of their hand or library, though it's usually better to just pull it to hand. Then there are "tuck" effects which say that your opponent mus "shuffle target ____ into their library" or "put targe___ un the bottom of their library." This makes the card much harder for your opponent to use again. And this used to be something you could do to their commander. However, that rule was changed and now they can put their commander into the command zone instead. A couple of remaining ways to remove their commander would be to turn it upside down, or enchant it. If they don't have a way to sacrifice their commander then they are stuck with the enchantment. If that enchantment turned it into a treefolk o ra frog or something, then their commander is out of commission for a little while. But eventually they'll be able to block with it, or it will get killed by a "destroy all creatures" board wipe. And then they can move it back into the command zone. Darksteel Mutation is particularly hard to get rid of because it turns their commander into an indestructible bug. If they don't have a sac outlet then it's really difficult to get the commander back. Most board wipes don't do it, blocking with that bug won't do it. In some games that commander is just out for good. Of course you could remove the enchantment. But some decks, especially monoblack, have very few ways to get rid of enchantments. Imprisoned in the Moon and Song of the Dryads are even harder to deal with usually. Most people have a few ways to get rid of indestructible creatures but not everyone runs land destruction. Case in point, the other day I was playing my Kokusho deck. Mono black. Someone enchanted my boi with Song of the Dryads. Normally I would have been fine, I have a ton of sac outlets and indeed, I had one on the table, but unfortunately for me, the same jerk who was casting Song of Dryads had a City of Solitude in play. I couldn't even sacrifice my Kokusho at instant speed. So he became a forest. I had no enchantment removal because I was in monoblack, and I had no land destruction. I was stuck like that until several turns later when someone eventually played a Cyclonic Rift and saved me. Needless to say, that deck now runs Wasteland and Strip Mine just in case such a thing happens again.
Hey all, here is the Tuvasa decklist: archidekt.com/decks/296157#Tuvasa,_the_Round_Two Andrew, thanks for having me! I had a lot of fun playing on the channel. I guess three things: 1) my bad on the Bruna misplay, in the end it didn't impact the game as she would have picked up the equipment when she blocked, but still a silly misplay. This was probably my 3 or 4th game with the deck and I'm still getting used to it; 2) I was fairly unsure about what the right play was on the Etali trigger. From what I've read here, we played it wrong and I agree with folks assessment on the trigger etc. For what it's worth, we were playing next to table of judges and we actually asked about this before we resolved the play but I guess we interpreted the instructions incorrectly; and 3) I was definitely hoisted on my own petard with the dueling grounds in play! When I sac'd sterling grove to tutor I went for unquestioned authority when I should have gone for ancestral mask and pumped Bruna for +2/+2 for each enchantment in play, which would have been like +18/+18 at the time haha. Oh well, great game and I'm glad folks enjoyed it as much as I did playing it.
Etali would still trigger and both would have to reveal the top and Vincent could play for free. TP only gives protection from everything which means he can't be targeted. Etali doesn't target anything. And even if he's phased out, he can still cast spells/play thru his phases.
As much as I like the idea of "phasing out" with the Teferi's Protection, it is worth noting that the player does not phase out, just has protection and life total can't change. It's the permanents that phase out.
when the hammer hit the stack I was so hopping that he would use it to sacrifice his now land commander to get rid of the enchantment. good game none the less.
Player has protection from everything. They can't be targeted or enchanted by anything and all damage is prevented. In that scenario, only spells and individual cards in graveyard or exile can actually be targeted.
No, because damage is prevented (protection from everything). Unless there's some effect stopping damage prevention (Everlasting Torment, Leyline of Punishment, etc.), infect won't work. Proliferate does work, though.
I’m building mathas curses and i saw retether and got super hyped because i thought it was replenish for auras but then read the text in parentheses and got super sad.
He's too slow, and doesn't have enough tools to tutor or interact. The only mono-red commander that sees play in cEDH is Godo, Bandit Warlord. You get the treasonous ogre out, then spend all your life to get Helm of the Host onto Godo and have infinite combats.

You can still die by drawing from an empty deck, which I always found funny.
Ada Bee you can also still die from someone proliferating poison counters onto you
@@cooldes4593 Teferi never truly understood the peril of Phyrexia's contagion...
That's why his protection phased out that Melira that could've saved you from the poison counters... :P
Andres only needed to sacrifice the goblin token that was targeted by Echoing Truth, which would fizzle the spell and allow him to keep the others.
Came for this.

All permanents so library/graveyard/exile is still touchable
That’s correct. Libraries, graveyards and hand can still be manipulated.
I'm really trying to find the logic behind hard casting Chromeshell Crab, but I'm not having much success.
Aiden Noir he missed two draws and the body isn’t much bigger than it is a morph. Just baffling
It's possible his other face down creature was Vesuvan Shapeshifter which morphs for less than the Crab does.
Yeah I kind of just missed the right line there. Not a shining moment for me

Maraxus that's some spice, even better with the decklist in the description Muddstah !

I found you from the MTGGoldfish crew. I enjoy your content!
I hope Vincent starts referring to his commander as "the Lord Maraxus, Warrior of the Wasteland, Ayatollah of Rock and Rollah."
and starts celebrating victories with a little bit of the bubbly?
Imprisoned in the moon needs more love.
It can be devastating to some commanders and it’s so cheap to cast.
It's overshadowed by its superior cousin, Song of the Dryads, which also shuts down artifacts and enchantments.
Has some fun interactions with Vesuva and Thespian Stage too. (Imprisoned in the Moon and Song of the Dryads both)
Can anyone name off some interactions where these cards make big impacts? I am curious to know because Idk. Why is Song of the Dryads good?

Proliferate does work, though.

What is that playmat that Andres is using and where can I get it? Stained glass version of the three Eldrazi titans? yes please.
What did he Gamble for their at the end? 🤔
Probably Blasphemous Act to board wipe if he didn't win that combat.
My guess would've been Temur Battle Rage to force the damage through, but it turned out he had enough to trample over anyways

Why Andres didn't attack Julius with a lot of tokens?
Douglas Marcondes scryfall.com/card/inv/245/dueling-grounds
Doesnt boggart shenanigans count as a goblin aswell? For the krenko trigger
Yes, it does.
It does. So he should have had a bunch more goblin tokens by the end. But it didn't matter because of Dueling Grounds.
KRENKO...

Has Vincent considered turnining Maraxus into Tin Street Krenko
IMO, Tin Street works better as a voltron, while Mob Boss is better as a tribal commander.
