Old gale wings just allowed it to always work for priority for flying moves even if you weren't full HP, which gives it an actual trade off of priority brave bird and tailwind vs priority tailwind and Taunt that torn and whims would have, which essentially means "do I value having a faster stop to my opponents tailwind or am I focusing on either tailwind or trading talonflame 1 for 1?" Which I figured was fine for the format!

Unpopular opinion: Old mon don't need stat buffs, newer gens just need a stat debuff once their debut ends.

Honestly Gale Wings could go back to the way it was. There's so many more ways to stop priority attacks now that priority brave birds wouldn't be any more of an issue with Indeedee, Farigiraf, and upper hand.
Completely agree also stats just got far more optimized in gens 8/9 so talonflames a lot less oppressive anyway
still doesn't fix 252 hp 252 attack talonflame with roost, willow, brave bird and flare blitz set. that i the set that made it op not the 252 speed set
@@artje90it literally does though, 81 attack is nothing these days and it’s mediocre bulk and bad defensive typing mean it’s not staying on the field for long even with priority roost

For Toucannon, I'd say to instead go the opposite and actually take 30 points from its Speed to put into its HP. Then add 10 points into each defense stat to make it more of a tanky mon. Keep Beak Blast as it is now, but add some sort of secondary effect when it lands, something like a 20% chance to lower Defense or something. The fact that none of Toucannon's Abilities interact with its signature move at all, when 2/3 of them interact solely with moves, is weird, and doing this would keep Beak Blast's unique mechanics while also giving Toucannon access to a 130 bp spammable Flying type move via Sheer Force boosted Beak Blast. Combined with its lowered Speed, this allows for Trick Room shenanigans, where you have to either focus it down before it gets off fast Bullet Seeds or Rock Blasts or completely avoid touching it with contact moves else risk getting the Beak Blast burn.
I'd keep it as a Normal/Flying, but in return give it access to moves like Body Slam at the very least so it can gain another Sheer Force boosted STAB. This way, both Sheer Force sets and Skill Link sets can both pose a threat to opponents in their own way, instead of Sheer Force being a more gimmicky option with only Gunk Shot and Throat Chop (you'll run Knock Off anyways) being boosted on the physical side.
I typically skew the buffs to either hard TR or very aggressive fast mons, and that was going especially true here, so wanted to try something more in the middle hence the 90 speed route. I agree with the ability point asw because it's just very sad to see, though the point of the Beak Blast changes was more to avoid it being stuck as a low priority move since it relies on Toucannon letting most other mons move first. I love the ideas you provided nonetheless though, the Body Slam route with Sheer Force is another cool route tbh didn't think about that
These are brilliant ideas, I love toucannon and I think that personally he's super fun to use, but he's never really been that good. Don't know why it shouldn't just be a pure flying type though. An exotic bird that can fire blasts of energy from its beak is the furthest thing from normal. I'd advoctate giving it the fire or steel type as a secondary typing, but talonflame and corviknight fit that bill far better.

I’ve never really understand the talonflame nerf. I mean, even in gen 6, Talonflame was starting to lose traction near the end.
I think fwiw Talonflame without a buff could have been a lot in generation 7 especially with Z moves at least during VGC 17/18, so I kinda get it, but by generation 8 it became just not necessary imo.
Just goes to show that when it comes to nerfing, GameFreak goes way too hard.

Corviknight is kinda mid in VGC but these buffs in singles would probably push it over the edge
Yea basically this, Corviknight in doubles really isn't a problem and it rarely sees usage, even when it picks up it's at best maybe at a 2-5% usage rate on its best moments.

Kilowattrel is really only needs the base ten in its defenses and an actually good flying type stab move, or they could make windpower buff hurricanes accuracy instead of buffing it's already good electric type moves
Wind Power being an accuracy buff could be cool asw ngl especially with Hurricane

I also learned that Hariyama gets it but Iron Hands doesn't. I just think it's funny that they're implying that in the future at some point Hariyama will lose access to a bunch of moves
In a future buffing video please give Tinkaton an actual attack stat. Even 90-95 is fine. And maybe a good ability like inner focus.
Oooo I like these ideas a lot, may look into doing just a general video buffing stuff but I have a lot of good category ones to weed through first
If you lowered Gigaton Hammer's base power to 120 or 130 then you could afford to do that
@@haddy106 That makes sense, but most of Tinkaton's stats are okay at best, and its best stat is 104 special defence, so an attack buff could be feasible without breaking the game. Also Game Freak doesn't care about game balance (remember they made Calyrex-Shadow and Zacian).

Honestly a buffing restricted Pokémon video might be a fun idea. Maybe changing some of these Pokémon's abilities from Pressure and swapping some stats around. Like Mewtwo has no reason for a base 100 attack stat that it will never use. Maybe crank it down to 60 and put 25 in speed and 15 in special attack.
At minimum I have a vid not next Sunday but the week after on the pressure legendaries so it'll at least tackle part of this, just about to finalize that script tonight!!

Personally, I want to improve Talonflame's Atk and Sp.Atk stat by 30 points and bring back old Gale Wings. I know this will make it a little OP but since Farigiraf and Indeedee exist so it's fine and I am going to add 20 points to Corviknight Atk stat(I will still keep the idea of adding 15 points to its Sp.Def from yours) to make it both bulky and hit hard
I think talon could still work fwiw but i wanted to tread lightly because ik it's already a fairly strong mon with a priority 120 BP STAB and I figured adding Tera and the ability to freely pursue sharp beak a lot more easily again could become overkill with an offensive stat buff
Honestly I'd give them all unique moves to use
Pigey hurricane. Hoothoot psychic ghost moves. Swellow leaf blade. Staraptor got it right with close combat.
It would give them all a unique feeling and not just the early bird type
Totally fair the more unique moves were cool it'd just be hard to like assign something like hurricane to pidgeot when it's a fairly common flying option that fixes a lot of birds, but conceptually fair

Pidegot: Technician/Aerialate + Extremespeed/Dual Wingbeat. More thematic with Pokedex entries, a small shout out to Falkners strategy in the anime, different to the Mega, and uses its better attack stat.
Honestly I just like the -ate abilities 😅

I feel like a better unfezant buff would be to make the males ground/flying and make it a special attacker and keep the female typing but make them physical. Just needs to have at least 100 speed both and 120 atk.
Give the male unfezant the ability dazzling (its trying to impress females on the ground)
New moves: earth power/scorching sands/mud shot/feint/quick guard
New moves female: Everything you listed
New ability female: simple or wind rider. (simple cause its a normal type or wind rider cause females are better flyers than the males)
Talonflame balance: gale wings stops working at half health instead
Toucannon: just make it pure flying and give it more bulk.
Honestly I wish I thought about the Unfezant Ground/Flying idea that's super cool. Talonflame you could probably keep full health these days there's so much anti priority so I don't see it even being close to unhinged. Toucannon could also be Pure flying with more bulk that's very fair and another good route for the mon!

Not that i think it is an issue it is crazy hearing Pidgeot getting the yelling moves. It isnt a majorly loud mon but i mean it could be. Special attack fits more post mega too.
It gets Uproar as an egg move, but I can’t see it demanding to speak to the manager 😅
swellow getting +30 in both would make it way too op ingame as a two stage especially, think that was a really bad suggestion tbh
It's offenses would just barely pass Greninja but with a typing far less overbearing I don't think it'd be the worst for an in game perspective, especially with a lot of Swellows best moves having recoil or requiring you to status Swellow with Guts. Swellow without items isn't going to be overbearing, and pre meditated Swellow with those statuses is absurd anyway in game. There's only so many ways you're gonna get it both competitively viable while also not dumb in game, and considering Swellow already is the crux of farming gen 3 to the most optimal speed running standards I don't really think the in game is safe from Swellow even as it is, it's the perfect in game mon already and the stats won't be the difference maker, it always comes down to if you choose to pre meditate guts or no
New editor is doing a great job and I love this concept of videos! The killowatrel buffs you had in mind is something I never considered. Wish they were real haha

Do these videos also help for singles? I love both VGC and Singles.
I could see a lot of the buffs working for singles but the intentions VGC. Stuff like Raptor/Swellow would become pretty strong in singles with these especially, and Corv already is a decent mon that goes up in quality to cherry pick a few key examples.
Hey what about giving toucannon analytic? Gives beak blast a nice buff a helps it with its poor speed.

Honestly Kilowattrel just needed something extra because its extremely limited by its move pool, if anything, dark pulse maybe would of saved it some
Here's an idea, give corviknights mirror armor ability the power to also deflect status conditions. Make incineroar regret entering the field against this metal bird.
Staraptor needs the no recoil ability. That way he can click brave bird, takedown, or double edge and stay at full HP
Rock head would be fair I like the damage boost more from reckless but no rule saying we can't give it both tbh
I know they were never legal in vgc but I'd love a video where you buff mew, celebi, jirachi, manaphy and victini. I think your style of redistributing stats before increasing them us perfect for these guys.
Eventually I'll have to for sure. I'm planning to update my mythicals in VGC vid in a few days actually so it'll be a bit before I re touch on the subject tho but that'd be a cool buff set

Toucannon being grass-type would honestly be a MASSIVE nerf in any format that doesn't have Tera (probably gen 10 and other future gens).
Definitely would like to see you buff fossil Pokémon as are any of them viable in vgc outside of dracovish and as for buffing special attacking flyging types just expand aeroblast to more Pokémon its just a wind blast

I’m more of a singles player but if we’re giving raptor the fighting type I would love if it got high jump kick. With reckless it would become an insane wallbreaker and would definitely make it rise out of the depths of PU which my boy doesn’t deserve. Not sure how good this would be in Vgc due to all the protect usage though.

Really make them unique and people want to get them to balance put the party not just normal flying. It gets better by the gen bur hootoot and swelliw deserve a new evo to a three gen line like all yhe rest

please look at the pokemon based IRL first before giving them buff
1. Pidgey based on a pigeon. it never has a loud voice in real life to justify having loud sound based moves, they do indeed have a unique voice but not loud.
2. Swellow is based on a swallow, often used as a name for sword moves due to how small and fast it was so i think their bodies cannot withstand intense fighting moves but instead giving them more speed and a lot of slashing and blade moves (night slash, leaf blade, etc) also giving them ability to easily deal critical damage is make more sense rather than giving them superpower and close combat.
I care about lore and a pokemon's behaviour way to much so I'd give defiance to pheasant seeing how it would care about it's pride.

I don't think all of the should be given 535BST. That's what Starters have but they are, well, starters, designed to be unique and the cornerstone throught your adventure
Lore-wise and gameplay-wise, Regional Birds are designes to be easy to obtain and train, but with a little less payout on the lategame. Specially for those with only an evolution, having a 535BST Noctowl as early as level 20 feels broken to use and play againts

That's fine just we have a lot of physically biased birds (raptor, unfezant, toucannon, corv) so I figured fast spatk like the mega goes further, especially with no guard it's just a mega pidgeot equivalent for gen 9!

They are generally seens as the secondary regional bird of their respective region.
@@jackk.4670 but why are they seen as “secondary” regional birds. Peliper shows up in far more routes and generally represents the region a whole lot better than Swellow due to being a tropical bird a tropical area.

I think the general consensus is that the regional bird is the first bird that you can encounter in each region, though even this is controversial since in SV the first bird that can be encountered is Squawkabilly and not Wattrel and thus a lot of people say Billy should be the regional bird. But then others say it doesn't count since Billy can't evolve. And well, as you can see, very arbitrary.
Imo I think they all count as regional birds, cuz why only limmit ourselfs to just 1? Lol.

ok saw swellow into starraptor and i'm glad idiots like the fans dont have a say
and was totally done changing the actual unique move of toucanon just to give it speed. give it bulk and keep the move and it's actualy interesting as bulky wallbreaker that ca punish physical revenge killers, you know a unique page of a book. and the buff on the OU Corvi while quite stable in OU.... ye this guy got dropped to mutch as a kid
