I love how well Miguel as an antagonist represents the fundamental flaw of the Spider Society’s doctrine: that Spider-People are defined by their trauma and that their trauma is essential.
Not a villain
Spot is the villian Miguel is more of a antihero
@@SenzensawAntagonist =/= Villain
@@SenzensawPeople, an antagonist does not have to be a villain 🤦♂️😂
@@ThatsCrazy482 why are you telling me this? I literally said that he's not a villain. He's an antagonist you dipshit that's what I was implying
I went from having no idea who Hobie Brown was to demanding he get his own standalone film in about 8.4 seconds.
I love how Spot went from a villain of the week to a literal threat
Villain of the decade
Love how he was the one hit by the bagel
@@eduardorocha5280 Everything Bagel!
There was a lot of mixed reactions about the cliffhanger ending when it released in theaters, which i can understand.
With about 30mins to go i was wondering how they were going to wrap it up in a satisfying way; and as it slowly dawned on me they weren't going to, I was SO pumped.
Making it a two-parter gives them so much more scope to tell a complex and satisfying story. Just hope the wait isn't too long
I mean, yeah, they had a lot of ground to cover. Plus with how the first Spiderverse did, they decided to make it a two-parter.
I mean, there was a lot of advertising that specifically said "Part 1"
@@michaelmcintyre3871I think only the first teaser trailer had the “part 1”. After that they decided to give the 2 films separate names. Kind of like how endgame was originally infinity war part 2.
@@michaelmcintyre3871 If there is a movie I already know I'm excited to see, i avoid any kind of advertising, especailly trailers
A good two-parter is supposed to be a standalone movie that leaves you with what you can call a finale.
Like Infinity War and Endgame.
ATSV is just a scam
Gwen and other spider-people not sensing miles thing was actually from the comics. The Spider-sense actually reads spider-people as allies and friends, not as danger, which is why it just doesn't go off for them. This is also why, in the comics, Spider-sense doesn't go off for Venom. It went off when he first saw and bonded with Venom in Secret wars, but after the symbiote bonded with peter and aquired some of his spider-powers, the spider-sense started reading venom as an ally too and has not worked against venom since.
Side note: I hope they keep this functionality of the spider-sense in the upcoming Insomniac Spider-man 2 game, so peter's spider-sense doesn't work against venom and even miles (if they end up fighting in the game)
I love how they gave Hobie a lot of things to make us hate him, but instead they made him a homie.
Homie Hobie
I'm curious what about the Spider-Punk character, in your view, was intended to make us hate him?
If not for the massive glow-up they gave Spider-Man 50101 [and of course Karan Soni's brilliant VA performance] slightly edging him out, he would've been my favourite new character of the sequel by far.
Was it just that he's "competition" for Gwen, or was there more to it?
@@gingerbeardedone3318 Let me explain: the second Gwen first mentions him, we expect him to be a rival because that's what Miles expected. And let's be honest, if this was any other movie, that's what they would've 100% done and made him a douchebag. But the second we first see him on-screen, we discover he is, like Gwen and Pav told us, a great guy.
@@batmanvsjoker7725 ok so it is just that, then? I thought maybe there was something I was missing
Good reaction! The thing with Miguel (2099) is that he is the way he is because if there’s one thing the writers did right is subtle hints of their comic histories. Miguel is a character meant to be different from Peter which is why we got those jokes of him being different. His DNA was spliced with spider DNA because the company he worked at tried to kill him, he grew up with a abusive father that made him anti social/sarcastic/anger issues. He was really projecting his hatred of himself/trauma onto Miles because he didn’t want him to make the same mistake he did. Still think what he said to him wasn’t right. He also never learn what it means to be Spider-Man until after 10 issues of his run I believe where he understood “power & responsibility” especially after teaming up with Peter through time travel where Peter inspired him. I do think that’s gonna be his arc in the third film where he’ll understand what Miles is talking about and fully become Spider-Man.
The company he worked at, at least in the comics was Alchemax
Miguel telling Miles that he's the original anomaly and how he is changing the canon timeline could actually be a good thing. Maybe if he saves him and gwens dads it won't affect anything because he's an anomaly 🤷 just a thought
Miguel will sacrifice himself in the next film.
As an animation and storyteller student, I lost my mind while watching this movie in the theatre. Hobie's story telling was so fascinating to me and just everything in this movie is so art-ful!
Have you seen Schnee's video essays? HIGHLY recommend them! He goes super in-depth about the writing and perspectives and arcs and AHH ITS SO GOOD!
I wish this movie came out while I was still an animation student myself. My classmates and I would've lost our freaking minds together
Has it caught anyone's attention that Pavitr has emerged as the unique version of Peter Parker who managed to rescue two different Gwens from plummeting to their demise within the span of a single day? Initially, he prevented his teammate Spider-Gwen from falling, and later, without delay, he swiftly rescued his girlfriend Gayatri.
I've always regretted not watching the first movie in theaters, so I managed to make it up by watching this one in theaters instead.
Same! Went 3 times, it was just as good each time but that's still in the back of my mind.
So to explain some comics lore; yes there is a villain called The Spot, Miguel's fangs release a paralysing venom as per his own unique spider powers (in the comics his DNA was mixed with a spider's in a murder/sabotage attempt, the red eyes are part of that), but he's not a villain in the comics the suit is just meant to look scary partly because it was a Day of the Dead costume, Spider-Rex comes from a prehistoric universe where Pter Parker swapped bodies with Norrannosaurman (Norman Osborn T-Rex) when hit by a meteor of alien spiders, and the Sinister Six are a common group of Spider-Man villains, so this cartel would be an Earth-42 incarnation.
The third and final part will take a while due to indefinite delay, it was planned for next year but it was clear they couldn't make that deadline.
One thing to keep in mind is that Miguel is essentially correct about the canon events themselves, given what's seen in the movies, but he only knows that because he broke one himself. It's dangerous on a universal scale to mess with them, and because of what he went through, he's doing everything in his power to keep people from breaking them, even if it means going too far. What he's trying to do is good and bad at the same time. He's trying to save universes, and to do that he tries to ensure specific events aren't changed because changing them causes the universe to unravel. It's pretty much the same thing as the set points in time introduced in the marvel what if series where Doctor Strange gets obsessed with bringing back Christine, and in doing so, destroys his universe. Because her death is what led to him becoming a sorcerer in that universe and changing that dooms the universe because he wouldn't have been able to save it from various threats. It's like Peter B Parker said, if these certain events hadn't happened, then all the good things they've done afterwards wouldn't have happened. It causes a paradox that destroys the universe.
This movie is a masterpiece and you can just tell that the animators and the writers had so much fun with it!
Well... probably not the animators
@@MrNostalgiayup
My man turned into the everything bagel
@@MrNostalgiafacts, I can't wait for BTSV but they should take at least 5 more years for it and actually treat the animators well
The thing is, I saw the Prowler reveal coming. And I still had my hairs standing up like Puss in Boots with Death.
The hair standing thing for me was when Miles first glitched in Earth 42.
That bagel really hit the spot
Can we all agree that Peter Parkedcar is the best name?
The movie team said this will be a trilogy only, Beyond the Spider-Verse will be the last one. It took 4 years to animate Spider-Punk, plus the recent writers and actors strike, theres a chance the 3rd movie will be release in a long time. Just to clarify, Spider-Man 2099 is not a villain, is an antagonist, the villain here is The Spot :v
Ummm “beyond epic” is used to describe the next movie, this is just “across epic” 😅
Wait, so if Aunt May moved to Florida, what happened to the "Spider-Cave" in her backyard? All of Peter's old suits, gadgets etc? There was a dang Spider Car down there! Not a Peter Parkedcar though, just to be clear.
this movie totally felt like a 2 and a half hour trailer for beyond the Spiderverse, such an awesome work, loved every single frame and the whole story told here, GREAT MOVIE
"What's important is not standing by while allowing someone to suffer or die because you do nothing if you don't get that, then you don't know the first thing about being spider-man."
-spider-man edge of time
I kid you not this quote came to my head during the "intervention" scene and as a long-time spider-man fan, it made the experience of watching this movie in theaters much more epic
“Being a hero isn't about forming a fist. Its about extending a hand.” -Kid Cosmic
“That person who helps others simply because it should or must be done, and because it is the right thing to do, is indeed without a doubt, a real superhero.” - Stan Lee
“Anyone can wear the mask... but how you wear it, that’s what matters.” Miles Morales (ATSV International Trailer)
“Everyone keeps telling me how MY story is supposed to go!….Naaah….Imma do mah own thing!” - Miles Morales
But if saving 1 person costs you billions of others, I don't think it's worth it
the next movie is coming out next year!!!!!
This is the era of "canon events", you have Loki, What If?, The Flash, and so on it's the basic message in multidimensional and time travel that there are unavoidable events that if changed have major impacts. In someways I understand Miguel's perspective, especially since he's experienced the effects.
Yup, MCU called them 'Absolute Points' (What If? S1E4), where Strange Supreme destroys his whole Universe trying to reverse the Absolute Point.
This was crazy I loved this more than the first
A lot of the early trailers did actually say "Part 1", so if you were paying attention to the marketing leading up, they were not hiding the fact that it wasn't going to finish the story.
Unfortunately, because of the strike it is being delayed indefinitely. It was originally scheduled to release 2024. So it's just waiting and seeing how disgustingly greedy the studio execs want to be and how stubbornly they want to keep artists in abject poverty so they can afford another yacht. If they agreed to all the demands right now, it would cost them a very tiny fraction of their profits.
Even before the strike, artist working on the film came out saying they didn’t know if they were gonna make the march 2024 deadline. Now with the strike my guess is late 2024 or early 2025
Yeah but even without the strike their was no way it was making the 2024 release date. From what I heard they are barely out of pre-production and I think the actors have said they haven't recorded any lines yet. I will be surprised if it releases before 2025. I am expecting it to be at least 2026.
The third part was going to come out in 2024, but due to the absurd and unprecedented animation quality, they already sent it to 2026, so we will have to wait a long time to see how this trilogy ends.
And if it is more than a year old, they warned that this story was divided into two parts.
It's fine with me. I'd rather wait and the animators take their time not burning out than rush a product that may be not as good.
One of the many versions of Spider-Man who make an appearance in this movie is the one from The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series which is the greatest and most accurate depiction of Spider-Man ever outside the comics. I highly recommend reacting to it.
Super Duper fun reaction thanks!
First movie definitely inspired a new wave animation. Including this movie, puss and boots the last wish, bad guys, arcane , the new tmnt movie
Gotta love how Lego Spidey is basically just Linkara`s impression of teenaged Peter Parker in The Comics except canon now. At least in that particular universe.
40:08 This guy knows how to bring the twist revealing word in this scenario!
When Beyond the Spider-Verse comes out and delivers then without question this will be the greatest comic book trilogy of all time and nothing else comes remotely close. As a as longtime comic book reader, the Spider-Verse movies are honestly the greatest comic book movies of all time. They also have really help general audiences be more familiar with more traditional aspects of Spider-Man as opposed to the live action Spider-Man movies. The Raimi Spider-Man movies a particular really didn't do a great job of adapting the personality of Spider-Man. In those movies he's really too meek and wimpy and that is supposed to be Peter's personality at first, but he never really gets over it in these movies. Especially when he is Spider-Man he really doesn't portray Spider-Man's iconic sarcasm and quippy personality well at all.
It may just be me, but did anyone else notice that Earth 42's Miles has an accent like Rio? At least the way he says his name sounds more hispanic.
hobie wasn’t actually roasting his suit w/ the finger vs palms comment but he was giving him advice on how to better use that power (and reminded him of that advice during the post-intervention escape) which was admittedly a pretty obnoxious first impression to make LOL
i actually caught that miles had been scanned to universe 42 when i first saw it in the theaters, cos it flashes across one of the computer screens before he gets zapped away. i think i may have ruined things for my theater neighbors on accident because i gasped HUGELY and said something like “oh no!!” 😭 oops
10/10
One of the best sequels to anything ever made
If it wasn't already obvious in the first film, it's now officially clear as day that the people behind the Spider-Verse franchise (including writers/producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who are absolute creative godsends to the once magnificent place known as Hollywood) understand EXACTLY what they're working with.
Don't let the marketing fool you: this film has GUTS. It's easily one of the heaviest PG-rated films I've ever seen. Payoffs and character revelations that were only hinted at in the first film are carefully, deliberately unraveled and come around beautifully. It made me think about my own life and what I mean to the people I care about in ways I never expected. The fan-service is BATTY too, and yet somehow it's never too much.
I wish every movie was as good as this---but then again if the world was like that this wouldn't feel as special. So I'll just stick to being IMMENSELY grateful that it exists in this universe.
This is no ordinary sequel. It's art of the highest form.
The guy who voices Indian-Spiderman is Karan Soni, AKA Dopinder from Deadpool
Miguel has his daughter ripped from his arms, Peter B Parker was there, and then Peter repeated shoves his daughter relationship in his face, lol. Thats the meanest thing in this whole movie.
This movie is awesome. I liked the first one but this movie is amazing from beginning to end. Hard to put into words
I was a bit apprehensive when I first saw the trailer for portraying Miguel O'Hara aka Spider-Man 2099 in an antagonistic way because Miguel is a far cry from a villain and he's also my all-time favourite Spider-Man in the comics but the movie did an amazing job for portraying him not as the villain but more like an opposing force.
Wasn't he revealed to be some kind of Vampire creature made by or IS Morlun?
@@markcruz359 What? No nothing like that ever happened at any point. Miguel is not a vampire. That was just a joke they made in the movie because he has fangs.
Miguel is not evil not even close he is just an antogonist to Miles he is doing the right thing for the greater good Spot is the villain of this story not the Spider society
Of course im on Miles' side but Miguel is the right one in this

Thanks for the video!! Stay safe.😊
I went for the first time to a IMAX cinema in Bogotá, Colombia with this movie, and it was AMAIZING! This movie is gold! I need the third one, like right now.
Don’t know if intentional but “holy” lol 7:52
Was waiting for this lol
4:15 - Meet Spiderman 2099.
6:39 - That's MCU Prowler.
28:53- Actually, it IS the Web of Life and Destiny. That is LITERALLY what it's called officially.
From our position as meta-observers, we actually KNOW that Miguel is wrong about Miles. Why? Because this movie gets Marvel multiverse designations RIGHT. Miles Morales is the Ultimate Spiderman and the number given to his universe IS the Ultimate universe.
A third film is in development, but it has been delayed due to the ongoing SAG WGA STRIKE which means that it might get a 2026 release date.
Honestly, it sounds good to me. Rather they take their time and not stress over making deadlines to produce a great conclusion than rush.
Peni got the shenji treatment
Great reaction, I can't wait to see the next one! I have to know how Miles gets out of this situation with himself. It was scheduled to come out early next year, but due to the SAG strike its been delayed. Hobie was the standout for me.
this movie cost only 10 M more than the first,(90M the first one, 100M this one).
also, a side note some people miss. the entire movie is a flashback told by gwen. and if you ever rewatch it again, notice when she is first telling the story, you will see ALOT of spoilers from the rest of the movie in there.
wow, this movie was wonderful and watching it in the cinema was a unique experience, the animation is perfect and the story is very entertaining, it's easily one of the best movies of the year and of all spider man.great video as always 🧡
This movie was hype!
6:05 I said the same thing, like why are y'all still standing there lol
fun fact! the YURI you see in ATSV is similar to the yuri in the insomniac spider-man games. she's just in a different rank. 👍🏻
i can't officially confirm, but that's my theory. 🤔
also, the spider verse movies did influence a lot of animation for the past couple years, look at stuff like the new puss in boots, mitchels vs the machines, new tmnt, etc. that have really cool animation and art styles
Miles own worst nightmare him being The Prowler from a parallel Earth/another Dimension!
Fun fact the lego is animated by an 14 year old
Miguel 🗿❤️.
33:04 Peter is a really good mentor
Just not a good friend, he decided to stay back and let everything unfold.
If this was the actual Peter he would have already been lecturing Miguel on being a Spider-Man.
Hell he would have been throwing hands with Miguel by now
This movie is AMAZING! The story and especially all the animation are all amazing!@ Pt 3, whenever it comes out, should be epic!
1:20 It's already happened after the first one, Puss in boots and Teenage mutant ninja turtles are examples of this. And even before that we had the peanuts movie, arcane, Bad guys. And even _farther than that,_ We have kung fu panda encorporating 2d within their sequencces. It's been happening for a while but I get what you mean. Although iIdo worry that one day it will tire and we'd get sick of it again. But as long as passsionate artist keep being in charge I, i bbeliev it will only get better 😊
You mean "Across Epic"
Since there is another movie named Beyond the spider-verse
Miguel isn't evil, he's trying to save everyones world from losing everything, and this one teenage kid is screwing everything up.
Its a cliffhanger because its a 2 part movie
35:12 he is, not his fault his dna got spliced with a spiders and got those red eyes.
And he’s doing the right thing, he’s just taking the very very VERY BAD approach to keeping the Spiderverse intact lol
Man Hobie is the goat fr
You didn't react it with your gf? 😢
Nimona.................
Miguel isn't a villain.
It's like Iron man vs Captain America in Civil War.
They have opposing views defined by their experiences

Been a while since i watched you, you been on a cut lately? Looking nice
24:05 why do people say “POV perspective”? The P stands for perspective

@@nickreacts6394 thanks for the update 🙏🏾✌🏾
I remember when I saw it I had a feeling something was off when I saw Rio, because she looked slightly different and if you notice, her eyes are green verses our Miles' Rio's eyes are brown, if I remember correctly :) Plus the vibe of the environment just felt off lol, such a fantastic movie, I love the little details and love and care they put into it
That scene in general has a sort of green hue to it, too! Something else is I noticed was that Miles is wearing a purple hoodie, with a green jacket. I wonder if that was Prowler colorization, or maybe more Green Goblin? Probably nothing big, honestly, but worth pointing out!
@@qrowing 100% Prowler colors. If you look back at the first film when Miles meets his universe's Spiderman and they both sense each other, the color behind Miles is green and purple at first, then changes to red and blue. That's the moment Miles switched paths from becoming the Prowler to becoming Spiderman.
✌️❤️!....
The transformer-looking spider is a female.
i wish you watched it w your girlfriend since she loved the first one
I know I am going to be the odd one out here with how well this movie was received. Loved the animation style, but there was just too much happening and it came off as pretentious to me. I absolutely loved the first one's animation and story, but this one felt really slow and the dialogue trying to be witty or cute all the time annoyed me. The first one is one of my favorite animated movies by the way... Just something about this one. Not knocking the hard work that was put in by all the artists either. Movie looked good, but I never felt like it had an identity. I know how each Spider-person and their world was supposed to be different. Even the fighting sections with the spot were just meh. I don't know why I didn't like the movie, just didn't.
It had a good heart, but too much razzle dazzle for me.
While I was enjoying the movie, it ended with a “To be continued.” Same crap they did with IT, Dune, and the last Harry Potter movie.
I hate that so much.
They have a big story to tell here. I'm perfectly fine waiting for part 2, especially with all the effort put in this one.
Dune's 'to be continued' makes sense
it's a long and dense fucking story lmao, they already had to cut a bunch of stuff as it is
The ending was sooo disappointing wish they would have named it pt. 1 since it was unfinished.
not necessarily unfinished. the movie opened with gwen and her dad and ended with that being resolved. this movie emphasizes her role in the trilogy and told a complete story with her. also some of the marketing did include ‘part one’, I think the final trailer explicitly states it.
