It’s an AWSOME piece of equipment. If you are a band or DJ and running lights as well as playing. This is a no brainer. Fairly expensive. But in my opinion, worth every penny !
@ScottUhlMusic yeah man, really appreciate all the hard work that goes into it. You're very concise, make complex material easy to digest, and also get to the point. I've been using the Morningstar MC6 Pro with a MIDI capable DMX controller to change scenes, but they're static. This would really allow for some great dynamics for my band's lighting. You rock dude!
Your examples with the delayed lighting between songs/sections just look like you have a teenage lighting technician that was on their phone when they should have pressed the button. Very impressed!
Very interesting! I've just finished developing a very similar PCB for an inexpensive midi/Reaper DAW controlled laser synthesizer, using the Teensy 4.1, (dubbed T4 Laser Synth) with 6 * ADC (audiomod and/or CV) channels and 8 * DAC channels to provide ILDA (International Laser Display Association) connectivity to any OTC laser projector(s). My personal choice of CS is the Behringer X-Touch Universal with Extender 🤗 The Gerbers, firmware, and instructions are currently being compiled and uploaded to github, open source for others to build DIY... access soon to become available after recording some video tutorials, similar to this excellent one, on my own channel (don't hold your breath). 😎
Scott…I’ve been using this for a few months now and I love it! I added a midi foot switch to trigger the strobe, blackout and blinder effects, since my hands are busy on the guitar. Thx for the demo!!
@ Question for you Scott: any recommendations on a wireless solution to connecting lights? I use 2 DMX cables to connect the lights from one side of our stage to the other. I’d like to avoid that with a wireless solution. Thx in advance!
Been watching this product for about a year. Only thing holding me back has been the cost. That said, DMX programmers are not cheap especially when you factor in programming time and the cost of an LD at you shows. I’m still not ready to pull the trigger but getting closer. I’m thinking about selling ONYX NX & ARTnet stuff make it easier on the wallet.
When I used to do live, unrehearsed laser shows, I always had to pick up musical transitions a bar later to determine which effects to use. IMO, this is just as good as humanly possible.
Ahhh yes! Like many (it seems from comments below), I've also been waiting for this review as I've been eyeing off this device for my cover band! Thank you, and thank you for persevering with YT Copyright claiming - damn hard to do a review video for this type of device when you can't get the audio in!! For me, the first big question I was looking for your perspective on is the value of this device is moving your lighting from 'audio mode' to essentially a much smarter 'audio mode' (i.e. the Maestro AI) with minimal customization. Seems like that was a hard Yes, but of course the investment cost vs. benefit is entirely subjective. I also loved seeing the MIDI triggering as that triggered a lightbulb for me on using MIDI combined with Audio backing tracks for my band to trigger key effects, changes, pallettes, etc. I'd really love to see a video in a few months time of how you used this with your 90s cover band as that best mirrors my own scenario. Things like, given such a big set list with songs rotating in and out, how much customization is feasible for each song, or do you find yourself picking a Cue for each song and then just focusing time on specific effects in specific songs, etc. Boy I was hoping there would be a competition with Limbic Media providing you a MastroDMX to give away!! ;-)
Thanks! And I’ve actually been using this since the summer. There was a minor bug that was fixed, so I was waiting for that along with the fx pallettes and snapshots to come out. But my plan is to trigger the lighting scenes via MIDI from stage Traxx. Some songs will just be “play the prince colors cue” and I’ll leave it at that. Other times I’ll set the colors all blue for a part of the song and then change them for the chorus and stuff like that. Of course, that means I’ll have to take the time to do that lol which I’m having trouble finding right now
@@ScottUhlMusicI got this to replace my Rockville 384 and sound modes… trying to get fixtures programmed now and hope to get it to MIDI and Stage Traxx as well!

this looks fairly difficult to program, I learned dmx as well and use the stage stage traxx to run my lights down to every note exact how I want it. was excited to see this unit in action, but now that my light board has all the scenes I need programming new song light shows using the stage traxx player only takes 5 minutes a song
Great video! Great product! And, I love how you didn't even have to use power for the demo!! That outlet was just chillin'. Wireless power? Show off, LOL

Wow, this device is the kind of thing that would really step up a bands light game with relatively minimal effort. 😮 So many bands (like mine) leave their lights to either solid color or sound mode out of fear of DMX and the effort required to make it work well. Another great thing about this is it allows you lots of flexibility during the show. We tend to extend a chorus or shuffle our setlist to keep the dance floor full, or cut a song short if it flops with that night's crowd. The maestro would allow us to do that way easier than hard-coded DMX songs while looking much better than sound mode, which is amazing!
I was about ready to pull the trigger on the American DJ my DMX go because i cant afford sound switch. Thanks for showing me this !! I cannot lie the price got me though. Why is all the cool stuff got to be so expensive? As a mobile DJ, what would be better this or sound switch?

I’d like to see it in use with a live band. I was a first-round crowd finder for this device, but I pulled out after I saw how bad the live band utilization was…but they kept trying to “sell it” as a live application. I run 3 bands, own a production company, and have been running sound and lighting for 30+ years, so I thought my point of view of very useful…but dude was not wanting criticism…only “positive vibes”.

The WIDI BUD by CME PRO is a wireless usb a connection. That’s what I use 👍
Yes, Scott, you're being picky. Hahaha. The crowd probably doesn't know or notice any of those delays in transitions. But we, as performers understand you very well. Hehehe. Anyway, great video once again. Thanks for this one!
lol exactly, the crowd definitely didn’t notice that haha. And even if it does give a little bit of a delay, it still makes an actual light show instead of just “blink randomly with random colors with sound mode.” It’s pretty killer. Thanks again for watching 🤘
Awesome video! I have ai lightshow very similar except it has buttons on the unit . Love it
This is amazing. Why couldnt this be a giveaway? Lol
lol I always try to do a giveaway when I can! 💪💪
I wonder if there is a way to control this with StageTrax3?
Yup, send MIDI to it from stage Traxx, that’s what I plan to do next 👍
@ Awesome! Maybe a video explaining the process? I’m a Neanderthal when it comes to programming. Your videos help tremendously !
@ thanks! And I have a video on how to send midi from ST3: ruclips.net/video/R5IIrmJWKJ8/видео.htmlsi=miywzN9gK9g4Vj14
Just the same process that I go over in this video with the midi pedal, just use ST3 instead 🤘
@ Nice! I’m assuming I would need a WidiMaster of some sort to plug into the Maestro to receive midi from ST3?
Apologies! WidiBud. Don’t know how I missed that!😅 Watched the video again.
I’m gonna have to wait ‘til the $AUD recovers a bit.
First in and i tend to check prices of things you review before going any further and £630 😮😮😮😮 I am out.
It’s an investment, but man it’s worth it
You going to NAMM?
Definitely 🤘
@ nice! Come my booth! 😁💪🏽👋🏾 booth#9910
Y’all gon make me lose my mind.
Try Sound switch , it's way easier and better and supports almost any DMX device.
I haven’t heard of that, but I’ll have to check that out. But Maestro is quite easy and it works with any DMX lights 👍
The Chauvet wireless have been a huge disappointment. They are super glitchy with fades also. I here the Chinese ones are better in those respects
A tiny bit, but I’ve liked using them!
I skipped ahead for the demo
I know you aren’t alone in that haha
