Guys I think it's important to mention actual dimensions with less well known models. This shape, like Taylor's GA, is as big as a dreadnought and as deep just narrower in the waist. It's not a small guitar even though the eye can be deceived by the slimmer lines.
Guy’s this isn’t the first video where you don’t know the specs. Shame, but thanks
1 3/4 nut width...richlite headplate, bridge and fretboard, mortise and tenon neck joint 5/16 x braces, laminate back and sides. Made in Mexico and Martins answer to the Taylor 214 CE Deluxe
The GP body size is like a mini jumbo. It is a tad bigger than 000 and smaller than a dreadnaught. Martin did a GP-18e which was more traditional - mahogany, sitka, high performance neck, LR Baggs Anthem, forward shifted scalloped bracing. In 2018 I had the Custom Shop make a GP-18e in all Koa and it came out beautiful in both looks and sound. I do not know if Martin still makes the GP-18e, but I do like the GP body style - pretty versatile. All my other Martins are D's.
Ziricote (back/sides), a surprising hard wood, more than twice as hard as Mahogany. Ergo, although layered ("veneer"), still provides outstanding tone (and durability) for an inexpensive guitar.
I want locking tuners for an acoustic, like yesterday :)
The high E is flat. It reminds me of your bread and butter Taylor. Both tonally and aesthetically.
Good tone, seems like a GA shape. But, it is x braced. Curious about the specifications.
I guess you need to a side by side with the equivalent Taylor GA model. Do they feel the same under your fingers, how does similar wood tones come across etc. It sure is pretty.
Got a Martin(s) all solid ovangkol GPC that i kinda quickly picked instead of a Gibson…I could have gotten a Gibby…or even Taylor(s); y then after a year got me a Guild D20 out of desperation they said 00015 sm will take 3 to 4 months to arrive at the store fr Pennsylvania Nazareth…still hunting for my last could be a om28 or 00028…my artist granddaughter had a JMayer’s…Moira DeLa Torre on Spotify
The Ziricote seems to make the Sitka top warmer or am I hearing things.? Thanks Paul and Quinton.
is there a double cutaway on acoustic guitar on both sides/
how long till it opens up
Paul, This isn’t the first time you haven’t known basic specs about the guitar you’re showing, such as nut width. Quinton: 1 3/4 nut? You: uh, no questions! Probably… Plus no mention that it’s laminate B&S. Love your videos but read the spec sheet before you show it, please.
It's not laminate, it's all wood mahogany back and sides like any all wood guitar with a very thin ziricote veneer on the back and sides
@@justinbateman8380😂That's ridiculous. "Solid sitka spruce top delivers bold resonance and modern acoustics"
"Ziricote veneer back and sides shape sound with transparent clarity akin to ebony and rosewood"
No Martin sound, no strumming guitar, but good for fingerpicking.
Those smell like 12’s and Dr K needs more tension to do his thang
no.
The back and sides are not solid... C.F. Martin seems to think they can sell an acoustic guitar made in Mexico for $1500 with laminate back and sides... I love C.F. Martin and generally like the USA built product over Taylor's USA built product, but Taylor's Mexican made laminates with the shaped back are in a different league. This is the first guitar from C.F. Martin I've seen where the price for features and quality truly disgust me... They have all solid options under $1k in the Road Series so the choice to go with a veneer for back and sides here makes no sense. If it were all-solid I'd have no problem with the price... lots of options that sound better for about 40% less.
Paying $1400 for an imported laminate back and sides sides guitar is just pointless. Look at (for $800-$900) the all solid Guild OM-140CE. Of course, if your need for a Martin decal on the headstock is worth $600 to you, there's nothing more to be said. You know yourself.
Not a fan of the tone, sounds thin and trebly....
Laminate back and sides... For $1500... No idea what they are thinking here.
@@rmzzz76 All solid options for far less
I don't even listen to cutaways... appearance a real turnoff, too many great dreads in the world.
