I honestly had no idea they were considering MLM. But their products are AWESOME!! I buy the regular nail strips fairly regularly and love the seasonal designs. And as someone who works a lot with their hands, they hold up 1000 times better than regular nail polish. I do a clear coat over top after applying and they hold strong until I break a nail or remove them myself. I was in tears over that email. Scott apparently lacks more than just emotional intelligence, and the fact that he hid afterward is hilarious. I do like that DD actually listened to their customers, other companies can learn from this
This is the thing. It was not a mystery who Scott was. He was open on his social media about his abhorrent beliefs, he was well-known for being an immature hothead, etc. This was BEFORE they hired him. So, the fact that they were willing to align themselves with him still completely turns me off from supporting them in the future.
@@jogermaine8600It might be just a case of neglecting to perform background checking on him. Maybe because Scott got a good recommendation from 'trusted' sources? Similar case with Taylor Swift, who was matched with Matt Healy by her trusted music producer. So, no background checking whatsoever.
It sounds like Scott couldn't come up with a product to sell so he conned a legitimate company into creating a MLM and oh BTW he just happened to be an expert that they could have head this up
@@pdx9erfan you are correct... I absolutely replied too quickly before I listened to the rest of the video. However I intentionally left the comment up because the logic still applies. I do know of companies that went from being MLM's to putting their product on store shelves leaving all of the consultants or sales people that had worked so hard to recruit, build a team, and gain ranks with nothing. Overnight all their work was gone. They had all received an email saying they had decided to remove the MLM aspect from their business model and put their product on store shelves. I will see if I can find the particular MLM that this happened with. But for all these MLM huns saying they are business owners... No, you're not. The company you are working so hard for could go out of business overnight or decide to sell directly in the stores and you would have no say-so in it and you would lose everything you worked so hard for. That is called being an employee or a salesperson lol. Obviously I know you know this because you are a fan of this channel like I am but it is such a funny point that seems to elude these MLM Huns
I am SOOO happy Scott faced the consequences he deserved. I am grateful I can continue to use this brand and know they aren't a pyramid scheme and they no longer have a disgusting person like Scott affiliated with them

Omg I’m glad I waited until the end to comment. That was a roller coaster of emotions. I live in a small town in Canada and dashing diva is one of a couple brands carried that have these products. I was so upset that I was going to have to stop buying them, which meant I’d be left with an inferior alternative who’s colours and patterns I am not a big fan of. Also, Scott should have realized he was sending out that email to people who may have not been part of the MLM world and therefore wouldn’t fall for his MLM toxic positivity and mindset crap because a lot of them are probably not indoctrinated yet (unless they’ve been in previous MLMs). So most people would, like you said, find this email insulting and so unprofessional.
Companies that have an MLM branch but aren't a straight up MLM just confuse me. If I really wanted to, I could just go buy a Body Shop product from the shop round the corner. Why would I even need to purchase through someone else? It's just redundant eta: Email guy freaks me out. Normal business comms, and even B2C business comms, don't work that way. The ad hominems to skeptics in particular are really weird and cruel, and honestly make me wonder how he talks to/about his colleagues
Scott was the one who hosted the call. It was so cringy. People were in the comments on the livestream, saying, "Sounds like MLM." Etc. He was trying to spin it as the direct sales thing, denting it as an mlm basically. You could see him get more frustrated as the call went on. I have used Dashing Diva products for about two years, I'm wearing them now in fact, and u was so upset about this. I was so happy when they changed their mind.
It sounds like he sent that email without clearing it with anyone. He really shot himself in the foot. So delusional that he ended it with the bit about how new opportunities were on the table when literally the next day the entire thing was officially canned. What a buffoon.
I think this is really fascinating and I fully support all the consumers rising up to stop companies we care about from alienating their core audience in pursuit of more money. The d&d community has been doing a similar thing lately. There was a leaked zoom call where one of the folks in leadership called dungeons and dragons "under monetized" and they rolled out a new OGL. We can't forget the power we have as consumers, and I love to see us all fighting back against shitty business practice.
I’ve been following the DND snafu too. It’s another case of upper level executives having no interest or knowledge of their own customers or why they engage with their products the way they do. At least Dashing Diva fixed things with their customers. Hoping Wizards of the Coast wises up soon too.
I'm glad that the anti-MLM movement has gotten big enough that it's leading lots of consumers to say, "I won't support your company if you adopt this business model."
Scott is disparaging this lady's education and intelligence in an email FULL of mistakes that actually completely change the meaning he is trying to convey (example; lack of ignorance) how very ironic 🙄
I love nail wraps and purchase from a ton of non MLM companies like Lovely Hello and Lily & Fox. Dashing Diva has always been a little expensive for me, though I often grab them on clearance/sale, but I just don't think I'll ever purchase from them again. Just the fact that they thought going MLM was a good idea, then hired Scott Halvorsen with all his usual MLM brainwashing makes me sick.
I hope I don’t have to stop buying these. The quality wasn’t fantastic, but as a quick mani going to a special event for a weekend they were so fast and easy.
It’s an MLM if you are incentivized to recruit. It’s an MLM if you are incentivized to recruit. It’s an MLM if you are incentivized to recruit. Get real people!
Oh damnit. I was about to buy some new nail strips, too. I really liked them bc they lasted longer than regular polish for what I put my hands through. What a bummer.
The scary part is this would have been an MLM I could see myself joining for free & others. This one worded it very well & the join free for a limited time was no risk. Then slowly I would have become an MLM hun! Oh the horror! Lol
I will say this. Tha "damage control" you showed us and their eventual pullback tells me that you and the other anti MLM people are having a real impact.
Never heard of this until I saw a post on ig in the antimlm hashtag. I was one of those commenter asking then to disavow Scott. I did recieve the dm but they should really say it with their chest. In full view. In my opinion
I saw the Diva Live email last year but figured it was a revamp of their affiliate program and ignored it since I don't do that anyway. I had no idea it was an mlm thing or all the drama that happened after, but I'm so glad it all resolved with them not doing the mlm route. I don't wear press on nails often, but when I do Dashing Diva is my go to because their longs fit my nail shape and size the best (the adhesive it comes with sucks though so I have to peel it off with tweezers and apply my own).
That guy tried to take his MLM tactics into the real marketplace and got rejected. Bye bye. I think some companies mistake the new anti-mlm buzz as a good thing. Like the Kardashians have been able, until recently, to turn their controversies into dollars and maybe brands like Kendra Scott and Dashing Divas think they can do the same thing.
I forget the exact quote but to paraphrase, if your idea/premise/business is legitimate it can hold up against scrutiny. The fact that they reacted this insanely from the barest hint of scrutiny shows exactly how illegitimate the MLM business model is.
I’m definitely someone who believes in manifestation. I see it as the bridge between effort and opportunity. You still have to understand what is physically possible, and you still have actually work towards stuff, but your manifestions help get you there
9:16 It’s SO funny seeing a company shooting themself in the foot by adding an MLM branch and then trying to be like ‘Oh no we’re NOT an MLM, here’s how it ACTUALLY works’ and then. Proceed to describe an MLM.
Exactly. I couldn’t agree more. Well said!! Call me petty and/or unforgiving, but I am not supporting this company anymore. I used to buy their products from Ulta’s website. Yes, they backtracked (which is great), but ONLY AFTER having violently defended their choice by saying how “different” and “unique” their model is-to the point of insulting their customers’ IQ as well as emotional intelligence. They could say “oh, that was Scott, not us,” but you sure as heck were right beside Scott when you were defending yourself, weren’t you?!! Bye bye!! I will take my money elsewhere. 🙄
Hmmm looks like Rodan and Fields also left the retail business to become an MLM in 2008…Has the well run dry and Mr. Scott is looking for more victims???
Yes, please keep us posted. My cousin sells color street and I definitely bought about 5 sets initially to “support” her but now I know better. She also does Usborne books 🤦♀️🤦♀️
So they decided to pull the “I’m not like other girls” MLM trick and then be condescending when people called them out. Between the preexisting colorstreet huns (loyal as all get out) and all of the people who are against MLMs, I don’t think it will be successful. At least not in the US where the MLM branch of The BodyShop closed. I think he isn’t confident in his choice to add in an MLM sales model and I truly think that’s why he’s so defensive.😅 I hope no one falls for it. I hope he finds true peace. Going back and forth on social media as a brand owner/CEO/CFO/whoever is not it. Wait until he finds out about all of the cheaper, better quality brands, selling the exact same things without MLM components. I think we’ll see sales go up for KISS, Karma Nail Wraps, Lily and Fox, etc. while Dashing Diva dies.
There's so many alternatives to Color Street like Lily and Fox they are $3 a set, boho chick nails, pink raindrop nails, stickyfix nails, and Lotusby nail art. So many
Thanks for this deep dive. Even in Australia I had heard about this. If they already have an affiliate program why don’t they just encourage more people to join so that they can raise their profile and increase their revenue?
How funny, I just discovered them a couple months ago period I bought it at Walmart and it's the best nail product I've ever had period thankfully I've never seen it sold by an MLM person...
Ahhh I'm so excited for this! I loved this brand so much, but honestly, even if they reversed the MLM side, the way they handled critique and concerns about the MLM side makes me wonder if I should support them anymore. I'm glad they finally listened, but there was so much gaslighting and icky behavior before that. Idk. But I'm glad they're not anymore, at least. Edit after watching: The fact that Scott isn't there anymore tells me they get it, so I guess I will reward their response with business unless something else comes out. SO glad at least someone listens to customers. Thanks again for covering this!
I’ve never really been into nail products like this, but honestly after hearing their amazing turnaround, I kinda wanna try them to reward them for doing the right thing. I’m so relieved they didn’t head down the MLM path! And I’m more happy that people are *finally* waking up to this form of predatory marketing!!
Wow ! A company actually stepped back from something that would make them lots more money AND fired a guy who they said didn't match their ethos. I know there could be unseen reasons but, man, it is not the norm that's for sure. I mean, Scott had to have signed a contract and it couldn't be convenient for them to break that contract and I doubt they got away with no penalties for doing that 🤔 Kinda wish I could order from them
Why even consider adding an MLM branch to the business? Did they not know how many people are aware of what a pile of *bleep* MLMs are? Did they miss the part where people talked about the Lularoe docu and how many people are making anti-MLM content that includes personal stories from viewers, some of who USED TO BE IN MLMS? And Scott Halverson needs to meet a clue bat. The guy has more greed and ego than sense.
Scott seems like a professional bullshitter, he's literally trying to gaslight people through his emails and I totally get why no anti-MLM person would want to interview with him based on how aggressive and manipulative he's coming across as
I didn’t keep up on any of the MLM scandal with DD, but I will say that I LOVE their products. I previously tried color street and their product is garbage. It cracks and chips immediately and I did not have that experience with DD. In a pinch, I can run to target to buy myself a set and they really do last. I was pleasantly surprised how durable their strips were and I’m pretty rough with my hands.
Still sounds very much like an MLM but not requiring them to purchase inventory is a huge step in the right direction. IMO, the requiring MLM members to purchase the product in order to sell was one of the most predatory components.
Great story of how a company actually listened to their customers! On another note, have you ever done a video or heard of Nu Skin? I searched your videos and didn't see anything about it. I had never heard of it before and an Instagram friend of mine has recently gotten into it and it seems just like all the other MLMs, even down to the "retreat" in Provo, UT :)
I have serious concerns about the financial and social intelligence of the people in the board rooms of Dashing Diva if they heard his pitch and didn’t that “hmmm, this sounds a little MLMy to me. This is a bad idea. Lots of MLMs seem to be failing as SOCIAL MEDIA is exposes them.” Like who in the PR department didn’t stop and say this is a bad idea and a pr nightmare.
Scott's sanctimonious attitude while he proceeds to type the most egregious grammatical errors in his email is hands down one of the most entertaining experiences to watch. What a ride
Haven’t even watched your video yet but I am dying because there’s a Kangan water ad before your video lolol. I watched the whole thing 😂😂😂. I love that RUclips’s algorithm can’t decipher content that is for or against mlm’s. I hope you get that ad revenue check 😂
I think because DD is a direct competitor to Color Street and a lot of people go to DD specifically because it’s not an mlm is mostly why they actually listened to this backlash although I’m happy consumers have smartened up to companies making a ploy for more money
It’s also kinda funny how people suggest them as the NON-MLM alternative…. And then they just thought to themselves. “Wow a lot of people came to us after being scammed by MLMs…. We should totally start an MLM!!”

I was in tears over that email. Scott apparently lacks more than just emotional intelligence, and the fact that he hid afterward is hilarious.
I do like that DD actually listened to their customers, other companies can learn from this
Ugh I'm so tired of hearing the "We hear you" response from companies. Thanks sims4 team.
Scott Halversen is such an entertaining supervillain in the MLMCU, I hope we get to see more unhinged villain monologuing from him
If I was the person who hired Scott I would be too embarrassed to show my face around the office
It sounds like Scott couldn't come up with a product to sell so he conned a legitimate company into creating a MLM and oh BTW he just happened to be an expert that they could have head this up
A company reversed it's MLM status? But I thought all of the consultants were business owners... so how could that happen without their consent?
🤔🤔🤔🤔
It never launched. It ended before it began.
@@pdx9erfan it was sarcasm. They claim to be business owners, but the point is that they do not have any say in the business.
I am grateful I can continue to use this brand and know they aren't a pyramid scheme and they no longer have a disgusting person like Scott affiliated with them
I was SO WORRIED when I first saw the title, and so relieved when I saw the second part of it! I love DD, they are the only nail stickers that will stay on for me and not screw with my nails.
He 100% sent that email without permission. There is no way they let that go out approved, if only bc of the typos.
It's just redundant
eta: Email guy freaks me out.
That email from Scott is …. Wow. I would never want to hire someone like that
I love a rage email, the truth just slips out 😂
I'm glad that the anti-MLM movement has gotten big enough that it's leading lots of consumers to say, "I won't support your company if you adopt this business model."
This shows that sometimes criticism in the comments can actually effect (positive) change. So for those about to pushback online, I salute you!
I’m thinking that he made that email unbeknownst to Dashing Diva and they are in damage control mode.
I read a review on Dashing Diva-just file off the free edge
“Like trying to cut a tire with a butter knife”😂😂😂
I hope I don’t have to stop buying these. The quality wasn’t fantastic, but as a quick mani going to a special event for a weekend they were so fast and easy.
I didn’t know body shop was an MLM. That’s a bummer
I love this brand but had no idea this happened. THANK GOD THEY LISTENED.
Don’t worry; they changed their mind
Yay, anti MLM WIN! WHOO HOO. It makes me have hope someday MLMs may not exist at all. ❤️
The scary part is this would have been an MLM I could see myself joining for free & others. This one worded it very well & the join free for a limited time was no risk. Then slowly I would have become an MLM hun! Oh the horror! Lol
This feels like a fever dream, glad it didn't end on a nightmare 😅
I get my nails done at my salon, BUT, this makes me want to buy from them now that they saw their mistake and corrected it.😂
I will say this. Tha "damage control" you showed us and their eventual pullback tells me that you and the other anti MLM people are having a real impact.
I got brain damage from how many times I rolled my eyes during that email 😅
Never heard of this until I saw a post on ig in the antimlm hashtag. I was one of those commenter asking then to disavow Scott. I did recieve the dm but they should really say it with their chest. In full view. In my opinion
Dashing Diva running both a retail and MLM branch is how Usborne works with its main retail publishing arm and its MLM branch.
That email reminds me of the people who call others "sheep", yet then they listen to and follow others without question 🤦
Can we talk more about The Body Shop mlm? 🫠
"LACK OF IGNORANCE" I cackled so loud 😭😂😂
No joke I just had this video interrupted by an ad for Amway.
I think he isn’t confident in his choice to add in an MLM sales model and I truly think that’s why he’s so defensive.😅
I hope no one falls for it.
I tried lily and fox and they just didn't work as well for me.
Curious to know if I'm the only one that got a really tacky Kangen ad before watching your video lol
Me too!
Also saw 4 seconds of it before I clicked "skip ad"; such a stupid ad. "Shhhh don't tell about this opportunity"; then WHY put out a public ad???
@@timriehl1500 , reverse psychology.
Their insta post 😂 like there was so misunderstanding or confusion…
There's so many alternatives to Color Street like Lily and Fox they are $3 a set, boho chick nails, pink raindrop nails, stickyfix nails, and Lotusby nail art. So many
Thanks for this deep dive. Even in Australia I had heard about this. If they already have an affiliate program why don’t they just encourage more people to join so that they can raise their profile and increase their revenue?
How funny, I just discovered them a couple months ago period I bought it at Walmart and it's the best nail product I've ever had period thankfully I've never seen it sold by an MLM person...
Omg Dashing Diva... NOOOOOO! 😭
Don’t worry, they changed their mind
@@MelanieSkipper I am so glad they did! I got too sad in the beginning and had to immediately comment 😆
That email is so shiny and childish in that email. Wow
*whiny
I’m glad this story had a happy ending! Thanks for the video!
I LOOOVE Dashing Diva! This just makes them that much better!
Wow ! A company actually stepped back from something that would make them lots more money AND fired a guy who they said didn't match their ethos.
I know there could be unseen reasons but, man, it is not the norm that's for sure. I mean, Scott had to have signed a contract and it couldn't be convenient for them to break that contract and I doubt they got away with no penalties for doing that 🤔
Kinda wish I could order from them
Watching you had recently become my newest obsession, so I get soooo hyped when you post! Keep up the good work Hannah!
Scott seems like a professional bullshitter, he's literally trying to gaslight people through his emails and I totally get why no anti-MLM person would want to interview with him based on how aggressive and manipulative he's coming across as
I am getting major misogyny and incell vibes from Scott
I did not know The Body Shop had an MLM side! So disappointed in them.
It is no longer.
@@christinescott5002 They deactivated their MLM branch? If so, I'd be happy to continue shopping there.
@@larissabrglum3856 yes that is what I understand but only in US. I saw that on the anti mlm Reddit.
I definitely needed a Hannah video this morning. Taking my kitty to the vet again and your voice is calming to her and i.
Aw I'm sorry! I hope it went well 💖
My Monday just got better!
How mad he got when he started getting pushback is sooo telling.
“Opinions that are factually incorrect”
What? By definition opinions are subjective
Okay, first of all, that’s a lot of “life” commentary …. about some nails. I love a good press on! Wouldn’t say it’s life changing lol.
"We don't REQUIRE recruitment, but we DO strongly imply that you should"-- every MLM ever
It’s also kinda funny how people suggest them as the NON-MLM alternative…. And then they just thought to themselves. “Wow a lot of people came to us after being scammed by MLMs…. We should totally start an MLM!!”
