  • My first opportunity to fly above the clouds on a beautiful fall morning. It was a unique perspective on the world and was truly a life changing experience. The sense of awe every time I look up at an overcast sky will last a long time!

    That’s one of the best paramotoring videos I’ve seen for years, no look at me look at me or showing off just what flying is supposed to be. Nice job

      Hey Brent, Yeah I took my ball and went home, didn't think you were going to reply so I moved on. Let me start again, That is a big trike I was wondering what size motor and wing you have? how much does it weigh? you had no problem getting off the ground that's for sure. I have a flat top mounted on a trike I built, I love it, I've crashed it a few times and it's still tits. I do plan on flying until I die, done pissed enough of my life away and flying is so very special. Anyway I'd appreciate your input. If I don't hear from you within one hour I'll delete this message also. LOL not really. If I can contact you through email that would be cool.

    • @cbdane
      @cbdane  Месяц назад

      @@David65702, my trike has a water-cooled, fuel-injected 250cc 4-stroke engine. The all up weight including fuel, reserve, and a few accessories (strobes, iPad, etc.) is right at 200lb. Then it’s just me (about 190lb) and the canopy added to that. I’ve forgotten the horsepower numbers but I never take off with much over 1/2 throttle. It will climb at over 500ft/min (measured with FlySkyHi). I hear you on the flying. I don’t have any plans of quitting! It’s been a real life changing activity!

    • @cbdane
      @cbdane  Месяц назад

      @@Marto-id1xe, the speed is only 40-50km/h and the FAR103 ultralight rules limit the fuel volume to about 19 liters. With a burn rate of around 3 liters/h, this gives a practical range of around 200km depending on wind.

    • @cbdane

      @@cbdane I started flying in 1975, have a pilot's license, and a few thousand hours scribbled in a pile of logbooks. I am also an A&P. What procedures do you have for engine or structural failure at a mile high? I once hit a buzzard at 11k' and never saw him until he hit my airplane. I was practicing stalls when it happened. slow flight.... Things can happen that are completely off your radar, so to speak. Good luck. There's still a chance to win the 2025 Darwin Award.

      @cbdane  Месяц назад

      @@cdetrixhe, in case of an engine failure, I glide down at 9:1 and leisurely choose a landing spot. I plan in advance for an out landing at all times and know where that would be. In case of a canopy failure, I carry a reserve (installed on the paramotor) that will rescue me and the entire rig. Beyond that, I just choose to live (quote from Second Hand Lion)! 🙂
