hi super human garden 🤗 pre-made seed starting mix is very expensive. i like to mix my own - its more affordable and i can tailor to my garden, seed and plant needs. looking forward to the deck patio to garden transformation. tfs
@@SuperHumanGarden because im in socal/zone 10, i usually mix "grown-folk" soil and direct sow the majority of my garden. however, when i do starts, i make a 3-ingredient base mix: * peat moss or coco coir * vermiculite or perlite * garden soil, composted soil or (this year) earthworm castings then, depending on what specific vegetable, herb or fruit im growing (after true leaves) and the condition of the soil, i amend with granule or liquid fertilizer, gypsum/lime, sulphur, and/or compost (not all, at the same time or always). my hidden gem is compost-in-place pitchers: kitchen scraps (no meat or dairy), garden debris (prunings, etc.), depleted soil, grass clippings, etc. the pitchers constantly feed the plants in my raised beds - for free. check out my current backyard shenanigans video "welcome to the jungle" to see the winter results of using compost pitchers.
Can't wait to see what you guys do to the garden this season! Your son's little gardening equipment looks adorable.
Thank you,

I want to make my own potting soil mix. What would I need to add to this? (Besides compost or fertilizer)
