    Thanks so much for all the little things you point out in the video. It is super helpful. Just pulled out my 05 Grand Cherokee valve body. A lot more painful than your video because someone else had already done some bad stuff in there, but I really came back here 3-4 times to check specific things to make sure I am not crazy.

    The A580 is a Chrysler adaptation of the ZF 5HP30. As was the Mercedes assembly.

    ATF temp only read by scan tool when shift position is on D or R, otherwise it default to coolant temp.

    Hi my friend I used your video to install a use valve body it was working ok until I started to notice wird shifting but no codes I just put bigger tires 265/70/17 and lifted 2in I bought a programmer to set the new tire size in the ecu to calibrate the speedometer and the shifting points on the transmission it ran good for two days and it started to shift wird and a code come up transmission clutch solenoid preformec. Do you think that replacing just the solenoid will help or the actual clutch in the inside is damaged is there any way to test it out

      hi, really hard to tell without seeing itand running a few tests / checks. if you have fault codes it is usually an electrical issue. cheers

    Thank you for the video. We have a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 3.0 and 722.6. It went into limp mode second gear. We took it to 2 different transmission specialists. Both said we needed a new transmission. Since they wanted over $6000 for the job we purchased a used transmission with around 80K miles on it from a reputable location. A GM technician that we know very well installed the transmission and had Chrysler program and reset the TCM. AND....we still have the same problem. Still in limp mode, second gear. The code that keeps coming up is torque convertor clutch solenoid. Same code as before. Our tech is going to check the wiring harness from the TCM to the transmission and the relay. Do you have any ideas what could cause this? Thank you

      hi, old solenoids rolled around in a 2nd hand trans fluid can cause that. tcc codes are probably the most common faults on any trans. cheers

    I have a 2013 jeep wrangler and recently got the error code p0741 and turns on off but doesn't feel anything wrong with it so just replacing the torque converter clutch solenoid will fix the issue the dealership wanted to replace the whole valve body and torque converter

      hi, ecu can usually only sense electrical issues with solenoids or sensors, and not mechanical issues like sticking/binding or leaking solenoids or solenoid seals/orings. if threw a fault code that says ecu found electrical parameters have fallen outside settings on a few occasions. cheers

    2015 Jeep JKU pending code p0741, code P0731, code P2784. Noticed some weird shifting recently. Now it won't go in gear at all.

      hi, check all the basics first before you remove valve body. make sure battery is strong and holds charge well, good earth, fluid level, electrical connections etc. then you will need to test solenoids for operations and leaking ( or just replace them ) while you have valve body out, you can also air pressure test ports in case. cheers

    Great video, I have a question about a similar issue with my transmission.
    It is a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with a P0778 error code. won't shift and 2 different temperatures from P and D(100F difference)
    changed tranny fluid and filter, Reset check engine light, P0778 code returned
    replaced complete valve body (purchased at dealer), Reset check engine light, P0778 code returned
    what do you think it could be?

    Had a front seal leak so I pulled trans and replaced seal and bushing after trans was re installed after changing the front seal and bushing it went into limp mode,i took pan off and went thru valve body, replaced the conducter plate and checked solenoids were working, put back on and then would not move at all. i made sure shift valve was connected right and switched conducter plate back still wont move, sent it to transmission shop and he pulled down and found nothing wrong, he switched valve body and got forward in 1st and reverse but pulled down again and went back thru it still finding nothing. he changed pcm and still only limp mode. after a month and half i had wrecker go pick it up. now trying to find out what the hell me and this transmission shop have missed ?

      hi, as trans warms, fluid thins out and metals expand. do all the basic checks first but often is a contaminated solenoid or sensor issue. cheers

    What is the trick getting the sleeve with the 2 o rings on it? Ive lubed and anti seized the rubber o ring seals and where you put the sleeve connector into the conductor plate and it dont want to go in.. Ive been at it for 3 days.. Took plate off 3 times seeing if its mis aligned but all lines up.. Its just the sleeve issue everything else is good thanks... It is a really stressful pain right now

      hi, you need to keep pressure on the sleeve. some aftermarket connector sleeves are harder to install. cheers

      @@YepThatsIt got it... Got it positioned secured in and had assistance with a 28mm socket since it lined up just above the tab and used it as a hammer and tapped it in... Wow what a pain lol... Thanks for the reply man... Like your videos... Very helpful

    Hello. I have a 2008 Jeep Commander 3.0 CRD.
    The transmision works perfectly but , when I have position D, if I move the shift from positions - to + to lock in position 1, 2, 3 or 4, it does nothing.
    The change works fine but I can't select 1, 2, 3 or 4 myself.
    Do you know what is working wrong?

    Hi. I have a 2013 Jeep Sahara. The shifter is stuck in park, I have no reverse lights, and all the drive gears on the dash are surrounded in squares as if they are all selected. Do you think my connector plate may have failed ? Are these symptoms of a bad connector plate ? Any help is appreciated!! Thankyou

    Great videos. Thank you. My 2007 Jeep Grande Cherokee CRD with the same tranny wont upshift out of first gear. Otherwise normal operation. Codes are P0705 and P0730. Do you think I need to change the conductor plate to solve this problem?

      hi, if range sensor fault could also cause 1st incorrect gear ratio code, otherwise could be contaminated/sticky/leaking solenoid. cheers

      I'm having the problem where my 07 chrysler 300c won't go pass 1st gear i don't change the conductor plate , selenoids and transmition filter with new oil and gasket... and still having the same problem... also you tell me how many quarts of tf- 4 needs on a 5.7l hemi chysler..

    Anyone use valvoline maxlife synthetic atf in their W5A580/ NAG1 transmission? Just curious because it has the MB NAG1 recommendation.

      hi, manufacturers always recommend their own product. in australia it is law if they say its compatible it has to be compatible. generally any brand should do. however we do add lubegard products often. cheers

    Hi! I have a 2011 GC, and in the morning that the vehicle is cold, when it does the gear from first to second, this is rough and not smooth. When the transmission temperature reaches 77 degrees Celsius, everything is smooth. I have no error code. Do you have any idea what can happen in the trabsmission? I am not sleeping 😅

      hi, check all basics first, including strong and charged battery, electrical connections, fluid level, worn rubber mounts or driveline. then you can check for leaking solenoids seals and or solenoid o`rings. fluid is thicker when cooler and metals expand with heat as well, keep that in mind. might be good to read through past comments too. cheers

    My TCC solenoid tested at 2.8-2.9 Ohms, throwing a P0700 P0743 code. Since the TCC Solenoid tested pretty close to the correct Ohms, could it still be my issue? Thanks brother.

      hi, ohms test at room temp is not the only test. you will need to warm solenoid up and test resistance as well as leak testing. cheers

    G'day, great video.
    I have a 2014 wrangler with the same W5A580 box and it gets stuck in D im assuming 3rd. I can't manually select it into a higher or lower gear. It only does this sometimes on a drive longer than 20-30minutes.
    Do you think a new set of solenoids and conductor plate will fix the problem? If not do you know what else it could be?

      Forgot to mention, I can pull over and turn the car off and back on again and it works as normal again.

      then you most likely have blocked filter, the fluid drainback from torque converter clears the filter a bit when you turn it off

      It doesn't show a MIL light on the dash. And I have never had a code relating to the transmission.
      I done a fluid flush and new filter a few weeks ago. But made no difference.
      Im a bit baffled. I might buy some cheap aftermarket solenoids first to try...

      My commander did something similar, would not change gears manually, I changed the fluid, then all good, resolved the issue.

      hi, on these they are only contact points. often the contact points are improved by jst removing and refitting same condutor plate/lead frame. cheers

      hi, you can buy them separately or as a set. I prefer genuine but there are also aftermarket. try transmission parts suppliers, or even buy from a transmission workshop or dealerships...or ebay. cheers
