Angie, I could see your eyes filling with tears. It’s natural that you are grieving the meaning of that home to the story of your family. You are smart to Take the time you need to honor that. Angie, I needed this video. I am a single mom and went back to college to finish my degree when my husband abruptly left. I have an only child and he starts college in the fall. He will be moving to a new place. I graduate in December. When you said the world is your oyster...I almost cried. I have to get out of this house. The upkeep of the yards, pool, and house is too much. I will be so sad to leave the house where I raised my son, but I need to go. I loved hearing your story. Please share more about your life with us. Good luck. Cannot wait to see the new place. Also, I am a native Floridian and it is wonderful there. I miss it.

Hi Kelley - I hear ya! I got divorced when my youngest of 3 kids was in high school and I was on the verge of going back to school for child psychology. Just like Angie, I had an entire house to sort out. After 26 years of marriage and raising a family, it took a long time! I delayed going to school and rented a smaller house to keep my daughter zoned to her high school so she could maintain her friendships and graduate with her friends. The garage of that house was like a Rubik's cube of stuff from from the old house - you couldn't move one thing without shifting the entire cube around to get to it. But I sorted it out, sold a lot at a gigantic yard sale, downsized to an apartment and finally went back to school. I switched career paths and I'm just finishing up a BS in Health Services Administration, have a new job, new apartment, new life. It was hard to leave my house but I've learned to do so much on my own! It can be done! And we can not only survive doing it - but THRIVE and FLOURISH! Take care! ~Nancy (in Houston, TX)

@@nancymontgomery5884 thank you, Nancy. Good for you for getting your degree. I graduate in December in HDFS. I was a nutrition major, but the chemistries were impossible. So I also changed courses and I am hoping when I graduate that I can sell this house (if my son is okay with it) and find something more manageable. It is a lot of work, especially when you don't have extra money to hire others for the lawn, pool, and fixing everything (thank goodness for youtube videos on taking apart a garbage disposal) that goes wrong. I am so nervous but I feel like the answers will come. I appreciate the sweet reply and I'm so proud for you. I hope I can be brave enough to go somewhere that makes me happier. I am hoping to reach where you are. Way to go!! -Kelley

The other key thing is, after living someplace for so long, you have to reframe why you are keeping things. Truly, kids do not want your old stuff. Your sentimental stuff is only sentimental to you. Goodwill was throwing away 60% of what they were taking in during the pandemic so even charities are trashing things. It's such a disposable world right now. Sad but true.

When you leave the house for the last time, go through the house, every area, and (it sounds crazy but stick with me) express your love and *gratitude* for all the life and love it sheltered within those rooms. Oh, Angie, I can just "feel" everything you say you're going through now. I, too, after 20 years left a home in VA where my husband and I raised 3 kids, twin daughters and a son, big yard, and an 80" dog! We were divorced, and for 2 years I lived there alone, as daughters were off to college, before I decided I needed to move and change my life and change from transitional tradition to modern contemporary. My son, still in high school, helped me get through the tears, fatigue, my job, and the big move. On top of all that, my Dad died at 100, (my Mom years before), and I had to sell their home of 20+years in TX, and deal with all their furniture and things. It is overwhelming and like you, I chose to move into a new place with all interior new things that I too, had to select. I spent hours pouring over ideas with NO sleep. I so get it. And the final farewell was hard but even more difficult on my son.......... But new horizons bring new joys and you are on your way!! Just stay focused like you always do, with a gorgeous smile and delightful attitude that you so generously share with all your fans........just like me who tune into see what Angie has going and I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say, Yes!, share the moving experience!!!!! I so wish I had "known" you, LOL, when I was in it, years ago. But we'd all love to hear about it now, and you have so many fans with whom to share the ups and downs! Oh Angie! We moved 3 years ago as empty nesters after raising our kids in the last house for 15 years. It took a lot of cleaning out and 10 days of cleaning before the reality photos, but it all worked out and we are so happy now! We moved to a much smaller new home/yard and have lawn and snow service as well as sprinkers! You will really love it! Before we left, I walked through the empty house a few times to say goodbye and it really helped me. You will be ok! Good luck with your move and hang it there! Please show us your old and new homes and moving. Thanks!

We just bought a condo in FL last fall, right before the investors moved in. Its a second home now, but when my hubby retires in 7 years, it will be more permanent. I currently live there in Fall and Spring and it's become my happy place. My best friend lives there, as well as friends that introduced me to my hubby so it was easy to slip into the community. Plus the condo is a small community and I already know more people there than after living in Phoenix for 20 years!

I moved to California when I was 19. My parents came to visit from New York and said, we are moving. Dads life was so hard with commuting in snow and keeping the four bedroom house and pool winterized. I remember helping them get rid of stuff! So hard for a couple that grew up during the depression. Home is where family is close. I am so glad my daughter and grandchildren are close. My parents are passed but I was so glad they moved near me. I visit my friends in New York every year and we always go to Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. I love the beauty of that drive. Looking forward to this year! Congratulations!

I've heard that moving is considered a maturational life crisis. Listen to what your body, mind & soul needs. If you need a vacation to chill afterwards, take it. If you need to pause your videos or reduce the biweekly, do so. Much of life is holding joy in one hand & sadness in the other, while learning to be present with both. Best wishes on this newest life chapter.

You will feel right at home with the sanctuary state policy and the defund the police movement. The crime rate is sky high.... The inmates run the asylum here. ALL of my friends have moved and we are all decades long natives.... You kids must be raging liberals. Sorry this is wear they chose to live but I am sure they feel right at home.
