    Interesting! It’s worth mentioning that lots of monitors include DSP these days which requires analog to digital conversion and back again, so even wired monitors can have some latency (less than 5ms usually I believe). Price-wise I’d say these are probably about right, a pair of Minirigs with the sub is £400

      Not for a normal studio, where I would never move them anyway. But I often work with a portable editing system for TV news, where I need to be on location. I have to do voice over recordings with this and do the final mix. I often do it with headphones, but the balance bertween voice and backround sound is hard to get right that way as no one watches TV with headphones. These would be very interesting for that setup. I will actually consider them.

    • @saardean4481
      @saardean4481 11 месяцев назад

      Yes when on the road I would absolutely use wireless speakers. I don't care about latency as I mainly do mixing and such so I am not "real time playing" etc dependent. I like that they have the option to connect a signal cable. Having said all of that , I find the price a bit very steep tbh. After all it's a plastic bluetooth speaker.
      If I had to put a price on them I would say 500max but 800? Thats too much. For 800 I would expect a much more rigid cabinet or Aluminum.
      I like the repairability and such but for now this price is a no for me

      I put mine on realtek asio if am using any midi input devices and it gets rid of the lag. I cant use other audio except fl studio while I have it on that but its perfect, its the bottom one under fl studio asio in the audio settings and will be named after your sound card, took me ages to figure it out. Still got the issue with recording live, I can get it down a tiny bit more but theres still a delay. I def need a better computer and microphone though, usually just use audacity when using my mic and the just edit the clips in fl studio.

    Thank you so much for the thorough review. They look really lovely and I am eager to test them. Actually I am looking for portable speaker with high sound quality since I am hosting breathwork sessions for groups of ups to six people in rooms of 30 sqm. I rent out the room, therefore I need a portable system. My self-curated music sets have the span of electronic, epic, evocative, classical or tribal music. I tried the Teufel Rockster Air 2 but wasn't convinced since they are quite cumbersome and seem to be designed for big parties with a lot of power instead of a very well tuned sound system over all frequencies. Could you please tell me if the Unit-4 is the better choice? Would they suite my requirements? If not, do you have another recommendation? Thanks a lot!

    • @descry1
      @descry1 11 месяцев назад

      2.4GHz radio frequency. Similar to Bluetooth, but uses a different frequency band which enables lower latency and better range. Consumes more power and requires a dongle tho. Typical BT latency is around 80ms-150ms, 2.4GHz on the Unit-4 gets you down to 16ms.
      16ms is great when it comes to consumer grade systems, but def too high for tracking applications. Might be ok for mixing?

    These weigh nothing. KEF LS50 Wireless every time unless you are happy to sacrifice sound quality and customisation for not needing a power source on the move. Plus KEF basically give an unlimited repairs for life on that speaker seeing as I bought mine 2nd hand 7 years old and they still fixed them for an inspection price including replacing all amps and input boards. KEF - literally the best customer service in speakers. Having said this I've not checked the price. If these are £400 then fair enough good deal but you can get used KEFs for £700.
    Edit: These are £700. Very very specific use case then. They won't be a patch on the KEFs for mixing or customisation and they are the same price. I'd really only buy these if I was mixing and travelling in a third world country where access to electricity could be a day away but then your laptop becomes the issue.
    Overall - Don't trust a speaker you can comfortably lift and turn with one hand.

    Just consider the fact that Wifi 7 can transfer up to 40 Gbits per second. To give a reference point on what wireless digital transmission is capable today.
    Ultra-HiFi 384khz x 32bit float x 2 channel would only need 24 mbits of pure uncompressed data stream, that's 1700 times less than Wifi 7 is capable.
    Actually, we've been capable of transferring perfect quality digital audio wirelessly for many years now, it's just the nostalgia of cables that kept more systems like this from appearing and selling well.
    Note: It's just Bluetooth that mostly sucks, and NOT the concept of digital data transmission. Talking about Wifi again, Wifi 7 latency can be as short as 5ms, which is a lot less than this proprietary solution.

      @@JoyfulWAVE I mean no one's going to know exactly what's best for you, this video is just setting out the advantages of these speakers to allow people who might be interested to make up their own mind, and clearly you're not one of them. This is how product reviews work.

      The use case's for these speakers are really specific, which is the same for the AIAIAI Wireless headphones, the headphones for instance, are great for live performance where you need to switch between different instruments, it cleans up a setup and gives you the freedom to move around without cables, however you can still plug them in for zero latency. The speakers could say be used for travelling musicians, if you are working out of a hotel or a car it could be really useful to reduce the footprint of your setup so you can carry less, sure headphones in this situation would also do the job, but what if there was a whole band in the room? or even just a lowkey setup for a portable DJ rig.
