That is so insane how much my thinking lines up with this field and the ideas it developed (social life as an amalgamation of impressions, the misunderstanding of mental illness due to pathologising it, the west constructing the idea of the east and the implications of that). Like these were all conclusions I started to draw myself and you find out sociologists figured this out decades before you!!! How maddening it is, and how much more frustrating to only have discovered this as an entire field at the age of 22!
Frustrating, but a really good starting point you can now expand yourself. I felt this comment since I'm also 22 and have always observed individuals and society since I was 12.
LITERALLY SAME HERE. My friend said to me that I might be interested in Sociology since I was always looking for the reason why things happen and I did not even know this field existed and I have formed thoughts like those mentioned in the video by myself and now I'm just so happy to have found my calling.
Saaame... I'm so annoyed that social sciences weren't portrayed as anything of importance when I was at school, just something easy to take in order to pass exams. They're so much more relevant to real life than half the other disciplines I studied!
Content-wise it's a pretty good introductory overview. However, I would strongly suggest to look up how all these theorists are pronounced. It's most certainly not 'Fuku' or 'Dukemme'.
"Marx trend" :D There will never be sociology without Marx, or any deeper analysis of society for that matter. What could be the reason of the "Marx trend"? :D Go do something else, there are many study programs if you don't want to engage in social analysis
Far too complex. You present far too many different ideas and concepts for a video that is supposed to be an introduction. Almost impossible to follow because the video is so dense, and I teach the subject.
Michel Foucault is NOT pronounced “fuku.” Jesus, how did they mess that one up so badly? He’s only one of the most influential thinkers of the 20th century! (By the way, it’s “Foo-koh” goddammit)

Never too late to start... Consider pursuing it if it seems natural to you.
Now is never too late to start ;) (at least in that context)
Thanks for overview of sociology I hope I can pass my class next year😇🙏🏾
I liked it. But, where are Marx, Weber, Bourdieu, Elias?

Definitely broke it down to "Barney Terms"!

Fuku made my ears bleeding
Foo-Co. Durk-Hime.
It's the French pronunciation, so actually it is correct as they are both French theorists.

Good luck making it affordable for the average African, we need to fix their corrupt and/or weak governments for that to happen
