Hello from America! Just thought I'd address the Cochin thing, that's actually a misconception that a lot of people perpetuate in the US. Cochin bantams are developed bantams, they're mini versions of full size Cochin chooks. Pekins are true bantams who look very much like Cochins but anyone calling a Pekin a Cochin is either lying to get you to buy their birds or misinformed. Love your girls and can't wait to see more of them! 💕
These chickens are very nice, but I am sooooo impressed by their quarters! Very secure, lots of bird-things, and a beautiful residence. Yes, I love the pale pale pink, it's so delicate and refined. The perfect feminine color.
Gorgeous hens and lovely vlog. Sunflower hearts are what we use for our girls. We love our Pekins too, we have 2 and a Silkie. They're hilarious. Our Millefleur Rosie is into everything, she's been on top of the big eglu cube/run before, found a way to climb up and jumped the elgu fencing. She sits on your lap if you sit down in the garden, won't leave you alone and is frequently in our kitchen without an invite. She's bottom of the pecking order too. We think this is hilarious as she's below a Frizzle Pekin called Mrs Twit who's scared of heights, trips over a lot and has been know to end up on her side and walks like John Wayne when she's busting to lay an egg 😂. Enjoy your hens lots. They're marvellous!!
A massive welcome to you all Milly, Florence and Ruby, you lucky girlies have arrived in a special place where you will be loved and cared for so much. Loved the end credits with your mum and girlies from the past walking backwards. That and the blooming music (gets to me every time) set me off again with a little tear. Lovely post as ever. Cheers Jessie 🍸🐓🍸
Ah Jess, lovely seeing you delighted, which of course makes us happy! We adore your new girlie-whirlies - Millie, Flo and Ruby, and your cute songs and dances about happy chickens. These three will fit right in! And….we get a cute, funny, backward-walking, tin-shaking mum, gathering in naughty cabbage-eating, chickens! Absolute icing in the cake! Have a great week and weekend, see you Tuesday.! 🥰😍🐓🐓🐓
Hi Jessie - they are SO lovely and their feathery little feet make me smile every time! And they do learn from each other - why would we think otherwise? Here in Sydney (Aust) I have magpies that return for a helping handout, just during spring, when they have babies. The butcher birds have obviously been watching this and now they also visit for a freebie - but not when the maggies are around - so there's obviously a pecking order, even amongst wild birds! However the butcher birds hop onto the window sill and peer at me through the Kitchen window - and now the maggies do it too if I'm not quick enough with the goodies, So it's obvious and fascinating how they all watch and learn from each other. Hubby reckons they are REALLY REALLY smart as they now have ME very well trained! LOL
Lovely girlies. My chooks will trip me over to get at grapes, seriously. its funny how they go crazy for them!!!. I can call mine and they come, most of the time, but on that odd occasion, I only have to show them a small bunch of grapes and shout grapies and run like hell. lol
I adore them 🥰🥰🥰 thank you for sharing. They are lovely. I can't wait to have chickens again one day, until that season comes I will admire yours 💕💕💕lovely ladies! They are GEORGOUS 💗💕💗
Love your new girlies Jessie, I started with 5 Pekin Bantams 2 years ago, & now have 9! They have the run of my garden and without doubt helped me through lockdown. They are real characters & such fun to watch, I totally understand how excited you are watching them.
We started off with brown leghorn bantams....completely different from our rescued ex battery hens. Much more agile!! Little buggers 🙈 Aww love their names 💖 the joy on your face says it all ....3 lucky girly wurlys 😍 xx
What beautiful girls. Soo very lovely and looking happy and at home. Just wondered in their birth home were they allowed on grass?. I wondered if that's why they love the grass. Looking forward to seeing them grow. Great video.
What happened to the other batam chickens? Sorry I'm new here just stumbled upon your channel today and watched old ones and there were three batam chickens, one is black and other two. I hope the Fox didn't get them. Sadly I can't get batams here in Italy (I'm British, a Londoner, moved to the mountains in central Italy over ten years ago..I keep chickens, grow my food and live very simply..oh and hordes of cats I rescued...next spring I'm getting more chickens, as I eat a lot of eggs (super healthy) and will be selling some too, plus two sheep for milk to drink raw and make my own cheese. I really enjoyed your channel, you've just gained a new subscriber young lady. Keep inspiring and smiling💕💚
Love them! We adore ours and like you, not worried about eggs. We have bigger ones to lay eggs. They are so sweet and I love the names. Many happy times to come!
Ah Jessie they are lovely. I am starting to get my dog used to being left. She started off on the window ledge until I got back, she now goes between the back of the sofa and the cushions. It obviously makes her feel safe. The first time I left her I wondered if I would even have a sofa when I got back! Perhaps you and your mum will be lucky and the new chickens will be tempted by slug ice lollies! I don't know why that sticks in my mind.
There is a product called Grub Terra that is a dried black soldier fly grub for chickens. That company sponsored a ton of homesteading YT'ers that keep chickens but I noticed many still use it long after the sponsorship was over. It was like crack for chickens. Now, I have no idea how expensive the stuff would be there, but perhaps you can reach out to them, say you have heard good things about them, and say you'd like to review them in a video with your almost 15K followers. Share this video with them too because they would love to be the solution to your tin trouble. The other YT'ers have left it in the original bag and the chickens would go crazy whenever they see it and hear them shake it. Good luck and congrats on the new girlies!
Good morning Jessie, mum & the girlies, Death in Paradise is the television programme characters that you have named the girlies after, i think. Have a great week. looking forward to the next episode. Take care. Cheers.
They are gorgeous girlies! I’m sure their stomachs will come around to the right treat eventually, mine eventually came around to the swirling veggies and I use scratch as an enticement. In Canada that’s a mix of different grains. They still remain “chickens” about some funny things tho, I never really understood the phrase being a chicken about something until I got chicks 😂
Nice introduction to your chickens. I had 6 chickens on my plot and loved every minute of my time with them. I had to re-home my 3 survivors as my allotment committee withdrew their permission 😢😢😢. Their eggs were always amazing 🤩
Nice looking chickens, I have thought about getting Pekin Bantams myself. I used to keep Coturnix quail, they also had a big yolk for their size and very little white.
Milly, Florence & Ruby are Gorgeous hens Jess, love the way you talk about them and all the detail about them too. One of our plot holders has applied to the Council to have hens on their plot so, looking forward to that. Take care 🙂
Jess your girlies are beautiful. An you are truly glowing. There names are adorable 🥰. An I’m so happy for you both. They are going to be spoiled rotten. Thank you for sharing this vlog is going to be one of my all time favourites 🤗x
Hiya Jessie, aww they are soo cute. I know nothing about, so was interesting to gain some historical knowledge Thankyou. You and Muma have created a beautiful home, who wouldn’t love it?!lol Good luck with the Pavlov method. Perhaps so much stimulation and newness for the girls and the age it’s not resignating yet I’m sure it will with a bit of time and patience. Enjoy your new babies looking forward to watching them learn and grow together. Blessings luv Ontario Canada 🐝
Maybe try them on a bit of fish flavoured cat food while shaking the tin. The protein is good for them and all mine have always gone absolutely adorable for it.
My chickens I had would fly over a 6 foot fence but when I added one more foot they stopped flying over. I gave my chickens food scraps as treats. They followed me all around.
Such sweet Girly Whirlies Jessie, and they didn't seem too spooked by your singing 😀 which is good! They're really cuddly and getting so tame already. Milly, Flo and Ruby, lovely names. Did you have to dust them with parasite powder yet? I used to have a beautiful White Wyandotte and she got little lice running up and down her feathers all the time. The noises are so sweet too, thank you for the update - worth waiting for! 🥰
Hello.oh my wonderful.and they seem very very happy girls,I have had. Chickens 🐔 for years now in the back garden. I have like you in my front garden 5 bantam s.3 pekins, pika ,polly and pip,.thats pollyanna and pippa.and peekaboo.then 1 booted bantam her name is Maggie and a Poland miss daisy...my bigger girls out the back are named 3 of which are florence, arrietie, and missie..im older ,any now ,but I just really love haveing my girls.chicken s. The pekins are very cuddly girls and so interesting like yours also.do have a wonderfull time with your beautiful girls too.god bless 🙏 you.
Awww 😍😍😍😍😍 I have been seriously considering being a 'chicken Mum' for some time now. Have read so many things on the old t'internet and got totally confuddled with it all...so much so, that I gave in trying to find a great, informative site 🙄🤔 soooo, you can guess just how chuffed I was to see your video on the girlies. I appreciate everything you said. I am hoping you do yet more info stuffed videos on them, just for my own selfish needs 🤭 seriously though, I really do need guidance before giving any girls a home, as I definitely wouldn't want to be anything but a good 'chuck-Mum' 😇🐓
Great vlog as per usual Jessie, it's fantastic how you're willing invest so much time and effort into the girls. I think Milly, short for Millicent comes from 'Call The Midwife' cheers to you, your mom and the Whirlies
Hello girlies! 🐔 I like the names! When you started with 'Milly' my mind went like: surely she's not gonna name one of the other ones 'Vanilly'... Glad you didn't! 😄 Easily scared chickens? That makes me think of something I witnessed a few years ago when I walked past one of those mobile chicken coops. They were used to people stopping by the fence and that sort of stuff. But when one of those thin plastic bags floated across their run very slowly just above the ground, they too acted as if it were the most terrifying thing on earth! How long before they become little nightmare velociraptors? 😆
Ok I'm gonna throw a guess: Ruby - character from Land Before Time? Florence: character from The Magic Roundabout? Milly: from Tracy Beaker? I love the names and love your girls. I think I have a soft spot for Milly 🥰
I dont think getting them use to objects in the air above them is a good idea, birds of prey will take advantage of that, you want them to run for cover from flying things.

My new flock of Calico Princess girls just started laying this week. Tiny little eggs!
So beautiful. I’d love to have chickens but don’t really have the space at the moment. Maybe in the future xx

Millie cos she's a Millefleur :)
@@laurac6556 Jessie was linking the name to one of the few tv shows she watches.
@@carlsmith7240 I'm sorry! Commented before I'd finished watching!
@@laurac6556 haha, no worries 👍
I eat a lot of eggs. Doc told me I should have only one egg per day. I said I'm getting an Ostridge then!
It's really amazing how you planned the voice over first then act it :).
Did miss the green manure special, or is it coming soon?
Lovely girls btw.
🙂Can see in your face how happy you are with the new hens... And the girlies are so lucky to have you🙂
Love the girlies name's 🥰
We totally lost ten bantams once, they had roosted at the top of a large walnut tree. We put them in earlier after that!
We just got a new puppy and called her Florence 😍
Try them on a bit of chard. Chickens cannot get enough of it !
