One thing I like about Sigourney is that she knows how to start a speech and end it with brilliance at the same time. She is really intelligent. And yeah she's also tall and pretty. I love her in Aliens and Gorillas in the Mist.
Funny fact is that Jodie Foster, Sigourney Weaver & Meryl Streep are ALL Yale University GRADS!!!! Foster BA in African-American Literature, both Meryl & Sigourney MFA in Acting Yale Drama! In fact, Sigourney & Meryl played together a classical Greek comedy theatre play, Aristophanes’ “The Frogs”, inside a POOL!!!, and both were in the same Class!
Sigourney had such success that night! I wish her supporting win had transfered to the Oscars. Geena Davis seemed to appear out of nowhere with that win for The Accidental Tourist.
Now imagine when we always talk about who won this and that award and who's gonna win the Oscar, in that year... 'So who won the Globes?' 'Who didn't is a better question.'
Once in a lifetime and I always dream of something like this happening. The only time I actually saw a similar moment happenening was the sound tie at the Oscars between Skyfall and Zero Dark Thirty. The audience went nuts right there.
@@lowwfeh Yes, you are right. Barbra for her first film (at least in a lead role) won for "Funny Girl" where she played Fanny Brice. Katherine won for the role she played in "The Lion in the Winter." Both films were released in 1969.
Glenn Close wasnt in the nominations for the GLobes that year. She gained a lot of momentum though straight after and was considered favorite for Best Actress for Dangerous Liasons. It was a superb leading performance btu Foster's role got the conscience vote in a film that should have been a TV movie of the week
Pascoe Braun It was an award for acting, and regardless of what you thought of the film with a somewhat cheesy score, her performance was a good performance. It comes down to taste sometimes and timing and it happened to be hers. Added dangerous to my watch list now.
I'm a bit confused as to why there are three winners? Surely there should just be one in each category? It's like when Barbara Streisand AND Katharine Hepburn won their oscar jointly? That doesn't happen now so why then? It's a bit of an insult to the remaining people in the category!
What's not to understand? The three actresses tied because they each received an equal number of votes from the voting body. The voters were divided on whose performance was the best. It's very rare but it can happen.
I loved that Sigourney won here! I wish she would have won the Oscar as well. She was great in that role!
I wish Jodie and Weaver tied for the Oscar that year also
Yes I agree Jodie lo9ks fabulous, and should have won.
So true… Jodie Foster was AMAZING in “The Accused” and Sigourney Weaver was OVERWHELMING in “Gorillas in the Mist” as Dian Fossey.
I love how Sigourney is too tall for the mike.
She's 6'0 and then heels
One thing I like about Sigourney is that she knows how to start a speech and end it with brilliance at the same time. She is really intelligent. And yeah she's also tall and pretty. I love her in Aliens and Gorillas in the Mist.
Jodie Foster was such a stunning, gorgeous lady in here!
You mean is such a stunning woman
@@siddharthnaagar7028 They both are.
Sigourney is so so so beautiful

Shocking moment
sigourney, jodie, and meryl all attended yale school of drama!
Jodie didn't attend the drama school she graduated magna cum laude in African American literature
sigourney we love you!!
0:15 River Phoenix, right there behind ❤️
That smile on Don Johnson -was thinking of a Three-Way that evening as well!! =)
Wow being a movie and awards buff I didn’t know this happened! Lol
Now imagine when we always talk about who won this and that award and who's gonna win the Oscar, in that year...
'So who won the Globes?'
'Who didn't is a better question.'
jodie, awesome as usual
Once in a lifetime and I always dream of something like this happening. The only time I actually saw a similar moment happenening was the sound tie at the Oscars between Skyfall and Zero Dark Thirty. The audience went nuts right there.
Barbra Streissand and Katherine Hepburn also tied at the oscars for best actress.

Sigourney is still a knockout...almost 60...she has great genes
Over 70 and still has great genes! (her motion capture performance in “Avatar 2: The Way of Water” is marvelous!)
Anne Archer & Sigourney Weaver look gorgeous.
You know a two way tie I find is incredible and unlikely but a 3-way tie!?
imagine being the fourth person lol
Such a rare piece of awards footage. Thanks!
I think Jodie was the clear winner
Sigourney won 2 Golden Globes and NO Oscar that year! 😒
Meryl looks so beautiful..... Love her
If Glenn Close had been nominated for "Dangerous Liaisons" she would have been the only winner (the film was released too late that year).
Lol not even the academy thought that. So no, she wouldn’t have been
I love being here
the golden globes know how to do it. when you have great performances you give those people an awared even if it means that more than ine person wins
I think Sigourney Weaver and Nicole Kidman is long time twins sisters...!
Jodie and Meryl would make a great team

this must of been the first time this happened. a three way tie
Has this ever happened again? I mean a 3 way tie.
@@oscarfun100 There's never even been a tie since then in this category. I was genuinely in awe when I found out about this.
This is so Empire
Anne Archer was HOT!!
oscars in 1983 or 84 should have been a tie between maclaine and winger
Meryl in A cry in the dark should’ve been one of the winners.
yeah good explanation..
A three-way tie? How insulting for the fourth nominee!
both Yale
My mother say; Jodie Foster is ´´the best´´
I say ; Sigourney is the best in Universe..
lol
0:38. I don't believe this.
Jodie foster was the clear winner
Glenn close wasn't nominated ? Dangerous liaisons??
Maybe she was nominated in the musical and comedy category
Dangerous Liaisons was a late breaking movie and Globe voters didn’t see it, so it received no nominations.
river phoenix was there...i think
Why didn't they just give all the five the award. Wasn't Jodie Foster the obvious winner
Voters were split this year. Although I woulda voted for Jodie, too.
💐🕊👍

@@rustincohle2135 oh ok ha ha I didn’t realise that’s how it was decided! I’ve never seen multiple actors winning in the same category ha ha
More winners than losers nice
I don't understand the 3 way tie, Jodie Foster was the clear winner
kotyo
Jodie was the only one with normal hairstyle at that event,I applaud her for that.
seriously. they could have skipped Shirley Macleine . Come on .Jesus Christ
They gave her like 8 Golden Globed or something. They loooved her before they started to give all the GGs to Meryl.
Whaaat xd
A tie?? Fail
