Realized tonight that "In Your Room" and Songs of Faith and Devotion are 30 years old now. JFC. They're so radical they can't be more than a few months old. Thank you Eric Lymon for extracting the pregnant radical within DM. This is a group 50+ years ahead of their time.
Eric, in your remarkable reconstruction of "In the Morning," you capture the fidelity of the "dirty slow shuffle" beat (my terms for lack of better precision) that is so uniquely DM and rather rare. That pulled, restrained eighth-note beat with occasional held sixteenths that calls back to the DM Single remix known as the "extended Zephyr mix" on the US, UK and Australia singles. ruclips.net/video/WzH0bb3hKgQ/видео.html DM's album release of "Walking in my shoes" features this construction as well. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this wicked, rare construction that you clearly have recognized and profoundly featured in "In the morning" - one of the best Depeche Mode creations they never created. @@cosmotraumatika7474 Thanks, I think I know what you mean with this "dirty slow shuffle beat"... these type beats are also often used in the trip-hop style. A style I get a big part of my inspiration from and which is/was also used by a few of my favourite artitsts; eg. Massive Attack, (Neil) Davidge, Sneaker pimps, Leftfield and ofcourse earlier Alan Wilder/Recoil. To create my mixes I often use my own compositions and endlessly blend/mix these with different vocal tracks/drumbeats/basslines & melodies until I end up with something I am satisfied with

Found Tricky's Overcome and there's that dirty shuffle that is so cool with the pulled beat and meter disruption.
