    Just found your channel. Thank you for sharing 💜. I’m trying to create something like Mold Star 15 to pour resins onto and into. Flexibility like memory foam but able to get fine details.
    Just now looking thru your playlists so you may have something. Mostly popping in to say hello & thank you for putting content into the world that’s teaching us how to create with sustainable resources. 👌😁👏👏👏

      Yes, I am close, but I thought what turned out in this would be something you and other artists would like to have in your pallette. We have you to thank for posing the question, and I will make sure I mention you in the closing video, once I have succeeded in reproducing what you asked for.

      It is my pleasure. I have had some reports this doesn't dry properly. Good luck as it takes a few tries to get it just right. Cook it to just the second before it burns.

    Something you are missing. Workability of the clay. It needs to be firm enough to mold into shaps that hold. Smoth enough that in a palm swipe test, a flower pettal is perfectlt smooth, with very thin edges, and no tears. Etc. It's very complicated.. lol

    Very happy to see you pop up when I was looking for a flexible clay formula. Do you have any thoughts on making a more flexible result? Seems to me this could be an awesome chap replacement for two part silicone in certain types of mold making if you could achieve greater flexibility and low shrinkage. Maybe for items where 1% shrinkage is ok?

    • @GEOsustainable
      @GEOsustainable  2 года назад +2

      Give it a try. About half of comments ask if I can do something other than what I have discovered. I could spend months coming up with something, and get paid $.0001 per view, and then get another question asking if I can do something else. My advice is to give it a try, and if it doesn't work, keep trying.

    Every example of cold porcelain diy video I found involved heating the ingredients after mixing, then kneading it. Could it be that there is a chemical change with the heat, that isn't produced by your mixing (kneading) it into the previously created clay? I was just wondering. Also, you said the previous created clay is hard (which I want). Is it also brittle? Is it a hard plastic like material?

    • @GEOsustainable
      @GEOsustainable  5 лет назад +6

      The clay I made is rock hard, very strong, not brittle, with zero shrinkage. I think you are really going to love working with it, and...knead it. ENJOY !!! I am still on the path to making an acceptable cold porcelain, stay tuned for that. Perhaps 2 weeks out still. And, please, don't cook the PVA glue to smoking, it releases toxic chemicals, and the reason I am reformulating it.

    Do you think stearic acid might help with flexibility instead, or would it alter the pH too much?

    • @GEOsustainable
      @GEOsustainable  5 лет назад +2

      great question. the pH level is not a concern. I simply had not thought about it. I will try it and make a video it it works well. I have continued working on this, as I mentioned, and I used vinegar as the catalyst with more sucess, so stearic acid will be a good addition. I am waiting for the next experiment to completely dry at this point.

    Hello there! I just found your channel and first of all I want to thank you for sharing your knowledge. I just want it to ask about if you have in your Chanel the Cold Porcelain recipe? I am interested in getting the porcelain that dries hard, even though there’s shrinkage. I have try so many recipes that I can’t get the same or at least close consistency of the commercial brands. Mine comes out too soft and I need something firm to be able to model dolls faces. I am sorry if this message is way too long, but you seem to have lots of knowledge on chemistry . Thank you so much again and I hope you could guide me a bit with your knowledge. Have a great day

    • @GEOsustainable
      @GEOsustainable  Год назад +1

      Thank you for your comment. I am not a chemist, even though I was paid to be one. I am good at research and my brother calls me an Alchemist by Trade.
      I have not done a video on Cold Porcelain as I saw so many good ones on the product. This was an attempt to make an alternative. Since then, I have concluded, not everything needs to be 'green' as God gave us oil. We just have to stop putting it in cars and make plastic with something else.
      Plastic and fuel are two areas I do work on.
      If it is too thin, you should cut back on the PVA glue. When researching for an alternative, I saw one very important feature were it make 'sharp peaks', so there are a few that discuss that.
      I am so sorry, I have so much going, I don't have time to work on this. But, I do see a lot of my audience are artists, like I once was, so I will make a point to get back to you all this spring and summer.
      After wracking my brain, Cold Porcelain or Clay are my only ideas for making a dolls face. Both will shrink a good bit.
      Keep an eye, I sometimes have ideas years after you ask the question.
      P.S. This formula has been reported to crack after a few months.

      @@GEOsustainable hello there, I am sorry to bother you again but do you know a good hardener that won’t dry out the cold porcelain? I am using Stearic Acid in small quantities. A teaspoon for a small batch. So sorry to ask once more about this topic, have a great day and blessings ☺️

    hey hey! this is great, I was noodling on this today. as you say, all the videos talking about corn starch, the only reason I could think of that corn starch is used as a filler is because of the consistency in the end product. I haven't completely looked at your videos, but I am also looking for a translucent air dry recipe, the trouble being a filler that allows for the most light pass through without cracking. I ordered some 'polymer' translucent air dry clay from Japan. The rumor is, it is called polymer because it has plastic in it but it does not need to be cured in the oven, instead it has a resin that is used as the binder, but what do they mean by 'resin'? that is air dry, safe to handle. Lost in translation perhaps? Maybe rice flower would be a good replacement for corn starch, rice noodles tend to have a 'translucent' look to them...
    Anyway I will take a look at your other videos, maybe you already have a recipe :)

    • @GEOsustainable
      @GEOsustainable  7 месяцев назад +1

      Cornstarch is not used as filler in silicone, although it could. Cornstarch is used to speed the cure of silicone. I do have a few videos on silicone that I am sure you can find good info. I have a couple making clear packaging film with milk.
      The polymer you talk about sounds interesting.
      Thanks for watching, and thanks for asking a really great question.

    Is it at all possible to create a air dry clay formula that when going through the curing/drying process is as durable as polymer clay and doesn’t shrink but especially doesn’t CRACK also like polymer- but no need to bake like polymer, but air dry?! That would be the PERFECT clay if even possible to make as this is the exact issues so many of us crafters experience and are constantly drawn to the convenience and cost of air dry but will use polymer on projects we want to last without worry if gets banged around and lots of use!
