  • This is how you use the ABRITES ECU reading tool to clone an EDC17CP14, I opened the case to put in boot mode, don't think you have to though..

    @Tim, what was the start of this story? In what way had the original ECU failed and how did you confirm it needed replacing?

      The shop did the diagnostics, they concluded that the ECU was defective... What they told me was that with the old ECU, there were DTC's concerning rail pressure and injections issues.. I really didn't check, this is one of my good shops, not a shop that arms the parts cannon and then just pulls the trigger... And just a note, I tried ODIS first, it had a test in the test plan to replace ECU, when I did that, instead of getting the form to send to germany, it came back and said it would program a used ECU, but when you clicked on complete, it said it couldn't talk to the new ECU.. Got out ABRITES and read the old and new ECU, then tried to just write the flash and the eprom to the new/used ECU, but these have OTP, One Time Programable sectors... then I found the clone ECU function, it was way to easy.. That is why I sounded rather happy in the video...

      @@timtracy9442:) I totally get that. I've adapted ECUs with AVDI before but not attempted an ECU "clone" so I'm going to have a look at this as I think I have a pair of part number matching ECUs in my stash so I can setup a test on the bench and try this feature 👍

      @@Franksey180 hope it works well, seems to work on MED17 and EDC17's rather well.. I had a MED17.1.62 from a 2018 audi TT, tried reading the MAPs from it and it failed, tried another and it failed too, found out all three cars were tuned.. the APR software locks it so you can't read and copy the maps...

      @@Franksey180 it is bad solution when you try to clone it will not work all the time...so it is better to replace eprom with new data ...also you have isssue with software version.. so dont clone... make eeprom calculation

      if you are looking for cheap, don't look at Abrites.... look at the chinese tools... just remember, you get what you pay for...

    Hi Tim
    After the new eeprom was generated by abrites do I need to paste it along with the original flash in the doner ECU or I paste the generated eeprom file only?
    Thanks in advance

    • @timtracy9442
      @timtracy9442  10 месяцев назад

      it all depends on wether the program asks you to load the flash or not.. on some ECU's it will fix the flash and the eprom, actually, the two flashes, but on some it only changes one.. the program will tell you...

      First of all, I'd thank you very much for your response, but my point is, after i load all files that are asked by the program. The program will generate a new file (if i understand you correctly), so at this point, do i need to load this new file in the doner ECU alone or combined with the original flash?
      Because I think the program will going to generate a modified eeprom not flash file.
      Thank you again 😊

      @@mohamedbashire5869 Yes, just write the new file that AVDI makes.. don't need to rewrite the other files... as long as it is the same ECU.. Abrites has figured out how to rework the Eprom so that the new ECU looks like the original to the car..
