- Activate by selecting 1 monster you control with ATK of 1500 or less that declared a direct attack during your Battle Phase and discarding your entire hand. Draw 1 card and show it to your opponent. If it is a Monster Card, send it to the Graveyard and inflict damage to your opponent equal to the ATK of the monster you selected. This effect repeats until you draw a non-Monster Card.

Remember that prior to this, Weevil had taunted Yami over his fault in the loss of Yugi's soul, an emotional wound that was still very raw, and one that Yami was still feeling incredibly guilty over. Making Yami think that his mistake was irreversible (by tearing up an otherwise worthless card) would be tantamount to watching your kid brother die in a hospital bed knowing it was your choice that put him there.
Not only would Yami have hated him for presumably killing Yugi permanently, Yami was also hating himself for his part in what happened. So Weevil made an incredible error in judgement by giving Yami someone to focus all those negative emotions on. The original Japanese script has Yami telling Weevil to "wash your neck and wait," a command normally given to prisoners on the day of their execution.
What's even worse is that he's doing this to a guy who can control what card he draws. Without Tea there, Yami would've converted his entire deck into monster cards and keep drawing while bathing in Weevil's screams.

Arie Yañez Actually, from Yu-Gi-Oh GX, they just do that for the effect. They're in no type of pain for a regular duel, and just want to be very dramatic when being attacked directly. When it comes to shadow duels, the Seal of Orichalcos, or the Pyramid of Light (from the movie), the damage is actually real, so the players are feeling the pain

The "real monsters" gimmick was always a bit confusing for me. If they are real, how come those sword strikes didn't leave scars, how come a fire-based attack doesn't leave you burnt at least for a while? Is only the INFLICTED PAIN real, without the actual injury the attack would cause?
@@PokeLexgnzlz In my opinion, the cards become as real as anything else, but because they're in a duel, they don't effect the world around them besides inflicting real pain to the players, who reside in the same space as them. (Ie; why the Seal of Orichalcos prevents anyone else from entering the duel.)

So, Atem (or Yami Yugi) drew 7 “MONSTA CADO,” and berserker has 1500 attack points. 7 times 1500 equals *10,500 attack points.* Just for reference the default amount of life points in a real life game of Yugioh is 8,000.
Actually 8 slashes in total, plus Black Magician Girl, there is a ninth one. If Anzu dies not stop him, he is likely attack until he draws out all monster cards in his deck.

In the TCG, Beserk Soul work almost exactly the same. The difference is that you deal 500 points of damage for each monster card drawn instead of an additional attack, and you can only draw a maximum of 7 monster cards.
HOWEVER, Yami would still win this duel.

The scary thing is, the Orichalcos makes the damage felt during duels real. Had Tea not stopped Yami, its likely the seal wouldn't have had a chance to take Weevil's soul because Yami would've KILLED WEEVIL before that happened.
I mean, Weevil kinda had it coming. Throwing Exodia, luring Yugi into a trap and sabotaging Joey's Deck? He's extraordinarily lucky Téa actually cared enough for Atem to get him to stop.
And nothing of value would be lost.

It's because Dark Magician Girl is an important character in this arc. She was the one who asked Atem to save the world from the Orichalcos. Having Atem draw her was a way to snap him out of his rage and remind him of his mission.

Interesting how in the original Japanese version Yami just seems to be enraged, hence him saying 'Draw! Monster Card!". Yet in the English version, he has more diverse lines that sound somewhat sadistic towards Weevil when attacking him, my favorite being when he says "Looks like you're out of luck." when delivering the attack that wipes out Weevil's life points.
He definitely takes a bit more sadistic pleasure in the English version given the quips.
So English Yami is S0, while Japanese is just pissed.

Despite memes, This scene is very well executed, let me explain, so, Yugi activate berserker soul.
He explain cards effect as per usual and he do his first draw doing a winding explanation of his actions, the type of the card and the name of it and sending it to the GY and orders Breaker to attack.
Them his states that's his second draw and says the card type, but, only show the card, he does not says the name, he does not order Breaker to attack nor say that he send the card to the GY.
From there he states that it is his third draw and do the same as the second but, slightly faster even Breakers attack is faster.
and from Fourth draw-to the Seventh draw he stop saying the number of his draw and only repeats "Doro, Monsta Cardo!!" doing it faster which time until the eight draw we simple see breaker slashing Weevil/Haga.
Basically, Yugi was entering on the Frenzy of a berserker, when the only thought is to attack relentless and nothing more other than attack.
Robin The Delivery Boy. This was also fresh out of losing to Raphael as well. That one duel made Yugi a more ruthless duelist overall.

Well it's a good thing Yami used Berserker's Soul otherwise he would've bricked for the next few turns.
The seal of orichalcos takes your soul after the duel was over, so Atem was basically the only person from keeping Weevil’s soul from being taken (by basically slashing him with a sword over and over) Tea technically murdered weevil because she stopped atem.
Even with the cards actual rules (Maximum of seven monster cards can be drawn), Weevil would still have his soul taken.
Uhh, no?? Weevil’s soul was already taken by the seal and Atem was going to keep going anyway until Tèa intervened.
Those times when you realize that the moment Haga hit zero life points he’s soul was gone. So yami was literally hacking a soulless dead body to pieces after the second attack.
Technically Weevil was still there.
The seal only steals the soul after the duel ends, and Yami hasn't finished his turn yet.
Legend says that if Tea didn't step in, he would still be drawing MONSTA CARDO.

Duck although I prefer the original version (mainly the godlike soundtrack) over the god awful 4kids version, I definitely see where Duck is coming from.
For one, you have to remember that this is a cartoon revolving around a children's card game, and the lengths to how overdramatic it can be as shown in the Japanese version just makes it silly in general.
While the 4kids dub is absolutely trash, one aspect of it that you have to appreciate is that it's brand of stupidity in how they localized it made it meme-worthy and enjoyable (albeit ironically) in its own right.

The dude has been nothing but a cheating slimeball. throwing the exodia pieces off the boat, slipping a parasite into Joey’s deck, and now toying with Yami Yumi’s emotions. He 100% deserved this
I love it when a character who was specifically made to be hated is ineffectually crying as they suffer. All those other examples you gave were atrocious people but unlike Weevil they had *traits* besides “deserves this.”

the card makes you keep going, even in the TCG, 8 is the limit but even when ur opponent lp hits 0 you must keep drawing.

Hiryu the Dragonite sadly, in a timed duel you must keep drawing until a non monster card is drawn meaning, if you don't you pick one up on time its a tie instead of a win.

DarthFalcon64 Nah the rules are that you have to finish the effect of the card being played. So in Berserker Soul's case, you'd be able to overkill your opponent after their LP already reached 0. A more useful application of the rule would be for example if you used Graceful Charity and drew enough cards to have the 5 pieces of Exodia in your hand, but you don't win the duel because Graceful Charity would force you to discard 2.
I like both dubbings for this scene but the fang of critias playing in the background makes this scene more epic

I've probably contributed a good 10 thousand or so of the current views of this video. I don't even WATCH the show, english OR japanese. This scene is just so damn visceral with Yugi's VA and Weevil's screams. Combine that with the Fang of Critias theme, and the general badass play in question, and this video is so damn addictive to watch, or keep on loop.

Nah, it makes him sound like he is sane and *completely* not beserk. The whole thing is way more intense and emotional. Also the music is nice.
