While Grace was the current voice of Woody at the time, she wasn't his original voice. That was Mel Blanc.

Grace voiced Woody from 1950-1991 then Billy West from 1998-2002 and now Eric Bauza is the current voice of Woody Woodpecker.

Ms. Stafford wasn't credited with Woody's voice until the late 50s, by choice. She got the job with an anonymous audition recording. I have a 1957 45 rpm record of hers entitled "Woody Woodpecker Song".

Grace was also sped-up by about 20% in the cartoons as Woody's voice.

A lady barber, I've seen that when my son was in middle school. The barbershop had a lady barber and she did a wonderful job on my son's head. I also was a CNA/HHA and some of the residents had to be shaved. I didn't clip or cut their hair though. We were trained to take care of the beards and mustaches. I got very proficient at it. Funny though, some of our female residents needed it too. 😊

@Watson Everly Are we talking about the same guy? I was commenting about Jimmy Stewart, who, by all accounts, was certainly a true gentleman. He obviously was involved in a very public profession and is one of the very few personalities everyone seemed to respect and admire. At least, I have never read or heard a single negative comment regarding Mr. Stewart. Yes, he was from an era when a man was more likely to place his jacket over a puddle for a lady. Unfortunately, that kind of gesture is foreign to many guys today, who are more likely to expect the lady to carry THEM across the puddle instead. So yes, if we're speaking about the same person, I think "gentleman" is a perfect description... his reputation, then and now, supports it.

That's because they usually speed her voice up in the studio.
