Everyone seems to ignore these shelters can last a year in the sun without problems. Yes, a fishing tent is a fraction of the cost, but durability waivers. Tents start to lose durability and water resistance after 20 days of direct sunlight, leading to having to reseal them, tears, fixing tears, or replacing your tent (after 3 equally sized tent replacements, you're looking at the cost of ONE shift pod on special). I have the mini, and it grew on me. I preferred my gazelle t4, but I ended up enjoying the shift pod way more. You can feel it's more rugged. The poles don't easily collapse in the wind. No bugs got in (surprising because there's holes in the corner no one talks about), which I think is due to the extensive liner at the bottom. The black out material allowed me to sleep better. Less noise due to insulation. Very cozy.
How do you define Expedition Shelter? I think this is the PERFECT Expedition Shelter: to me that you have the best thing I've ever seen in my life for all four seasons in review how to summer or the coldest winter. I invented a subsurface Rocket Stove Earthen Thermal Mass Heating System and I was planning to Showcase it in an Ice Fishing Shelter and my favorite was the Otter Vortex Pro Resort. One reason because it was hexagonal closest to round to Sheer high winds, they have a skirt for putting a rocks dirt sandbags ice snow on to keep the air out, it has a full door which I think shift pod will go to possibly anyway, nope, just remember to have one where you open up the whole side so I just remember Christian saying that can wheel two gurneys in at once. So forget my full door thing yeah just put the vestibule on! All the other thing I liked about the otter is it was about a hundred square feet which I think is like perfect a good size shelter plenty of room but also small enough to heat with my subsurface heating system. I think I can heat... Actually, I was thinking about my smallest possible model proof of concept heating system I have all the parts for that right now and I'm in the process of setting it up under a small ice fishing shelter. But, I KNOW that's big enough to heat even a large hundred foot square foot tent so if I upscale it made it up to where it'll heat up 50 ft diameter shelter - Yurt, Tipi, Geodesic Dome, etc, I could do that easily!!!
Good question. He said it was his first time sending it up and he's trying to do video for everybody so everybody sees it and my guess would be that they either moved it they're very light you can drag it anywhere or they filmed that part on a different day. Maybe they didn't get to it the first day or forgot about it and they wanted to show the floor being zipped in from the start. Pretty easy to figure out that he is not trying to be dishonest etc.
I have a more important question: does your unit have holes at every corner where the floor meets the walls? I noticed that on my unit there's 2-4 inch holes where the stitching just stops. You can stick your fingers through the holes and reach the ground. And these holes aren't very high off the floor... How does it keep water out?And how is it going to keep bugs from crawling into the tent? I've never bought a tent designed to have huge holes in it before... I'm returning this because some of the stitching is actually an issue and is ripping out, but I'm really hoping that I don't get my unit back with the holes in the corners. If it's designed that way there's no way I could recommend it or feel satisfied owning it.
Florida Gonzales comment from one year ago says yes it does have a hold of the corners but no bugs got in there they're still happy with it. just deal with it some other way. Not a deal breaker for me at least it shouldn't be because of the super high quality of the materials and every other aspects of the high quality of materials the design and the constant improvement. I but by one just to support the company for what they've done around the world instead of whining. Just Saying:-(
These ShiftPods are just an overpriced Ice Fishing Tent.. The company that makes these things are just hoping nobody has a friend from a cold climate who will point them toward much better options from Eskimo (among other brands) who offer the same tent design for a fraction of the cost..
They also have what's it called a blast shield and you can always put a tarp over it I think they have a rainfly system for it I'm not sure. I WANT one in the worst way, because I invented a heating system that will heat A LARGE tent /Shelter. It is a subsurface Rocket Stove Earthen Thermal Mass Heating System.
I love the idea of the ShiftPod Hub Tents. I was ecstatic when I first saw their promotion videos, so excited at the time saved setting & taking down camp, no more back pain, more time for enjoying camping instead of working at camping, etc but then I saw the price. $1200 is just beyond my ability. I tried to contact their marketing person with idea's that they suggest I contact them about, but they did not reply.
From what I know, that company is always super busy, seems like theres a lot of demand and their having a little trouble keeping up! Not an excuse, just what Ive experienced myself. I would say try again.
I think it's a strategy or is it something else....because I send two emails and a friend of mine too, we were really interested but we never got an simple answer!
If your interested in a fiberglass pop out hub tent as this shiftpod is...look into polar bird ice shelters, clam ice tents and many more thay are 1/3 the price of this one and fully insulated
I just learned early this morning that it was born at Burning Man. That is why they invented it! I have been looking for this for twenty long lonely years!!!
This is very much like a standard Ice Fishing Tent..ice fishing requires no floor..Ice Fishing Tents are available in all kinds of sizes..prices start at $150 and go way up..for my needs an Ice Fishing Tent serves as a shower house etc..so much less weight..
These ShiftPods are just an overpriced Ice Fishing Tent.. The company that makes these things are just hoping nobody has a friend from a cold climate who will point them toward much better options from Eskimo (among other brands) who offer the same tent design for a fraction of the cost..

There are some differences, especially for hot climates. I do agree that the pricing is a big road block for those that want to get into one of these pods but dont have the budget. I think most people love shiny things (me!) and thats why they continue to sell! Yes, I do know why its shiny... so you can find it in crowded camp ground duh.
I know Im randomly asking but does anyone know of a tool to get back into an instagram account..? I was dumb lost the login password. I love any assistance you can offer me
Amazing that this video is a thousand times better than all of the videos made by shiftpod. They are a joke. Thank you for making this.

Wonderful Testimony!!!. Thank you very much!!!
Tim Ferris sent me here and this is really COOL!!!
Thank you so much, I think it is too ;)

Here because of 5-Bullet Friday from Tim Ferriss @tferriss
No way?! So honored.
I don't fucking care
Tim Ferriss sent me here.
Looks cool. However, you put down the tarp but when you zip the floor in at 1:15 you are on grass. Did the grass eat it?

Mine def. does not have holes in the corners and yes return it.

I need one of those it looks really
Nice the design and the silver
And it looks big for 4, or three.
Pop in pop out.
3:53 had me rewinding/replaying lmao
Luckily I find myself really funny.
How about an opening in the top for an insulated stovepipe?
That would be sick, my fear is the material used on inside able to handle the heat!
You just add it when you buy the stove like any other tent. It's called a Stove Jack Heat Shield.
@@BitcoinNewsTodayLive yep yep yep
Put down a tarp prior to set-up at burning man
Dave Delve Delve yeah I totally agree. To be honest though I’ve never gotten dust through the floor.
These ShiftPods are just an overpriced Ice Fishing Tent.. The company that makes these things are just hoping nobody has a friend from a cold climate who will point them toward much better options from Eskimo (among other brands) who offer the same tent design for a fraction of the cost..
How do you stay dry if it starts pouring down rain?? Don’t get how this tent resists leaking
All the port holes zip up from the inside. I haven't had a leaking issue.
They also have what's it called a blast shield and you can always put a tarp over it I think they have a rainfly system for it I'm not sure.

Outstanding video! Very helpful. Thank you!
No port for a wood stove?
I think it would melt before your very eyes tbh!
Precio para Bolivia

From what I know, that company is always super busy, seems like theres a lot of demand and their having a little trouble keeping up! Not an excuse, just what Ive experienced myself. I would say try again.
look into clam ice hub tents...same thing 1/3 the price
N
I think it's a strategy or is it something else....because I send two emails and a friend of mine too, we were really interested but we never got an simple answer!
5-bullet Friday recommended
Am I famous now??
Does the floor go on shiny side up or towards the ground?
Great question I need to check!
Is this the 1.5 or the 1.8 version of the Shiftpod?
sorry I missed this, its the older version.
If your interested in a fiberglass pop out hub tent as this shiftpod is...look into polar bird ice shelters, clam ice tents and many more thay are 1/3 the price of this one and fully insulated
John Hales, those ARE all good alternatives however, none of them have the zip in floor like the Shiftpod.
Nathan Alten so a floor =75% higher price ? I have a self made tub floor cost less than 100 dollars in materials
Do you have any links for one?
@@yonihales9133 I bet you have a draft also and pests
@@650tonyd draft, pests yes I sell the drafts on Amazon and the pests on EBay lol
Is it just my hearing or does it sound like he's saying "Shitpod"?? LOL. This tent looks amazing though!
Some would say it is!!!
It $1,299 US dollars it is very expensive lol.
Thank you Tim!
Thank you for watching, it means a lot
Tim referred me here
팀 페리스가 나를 여기로 보냈어요 :)
I have no idea what you said but I think your saying Im awesome so THANK YOU!
pretty cool
Gorgeous such easy setup and dismantle !!! ( sounds like SHITpod ) 😂🙌🏼😂
Sometimes I feel like it is....;)
tim sent me here,it pretty cool.
Thanks, I really appreciate it!
I miss Morton Downy Jr..."Zip it!"
Nice
that filter would actually work well for burning man hahaha
I just learned early this morning that it was born at Burning Man. That is why they invented it!

Guy wires so the wind does not collapse your tent

Ice Fishing Tents are available from Bass Pro,Cabellas,Frabil etc..insulated Ice Fishing Tents come in at about $350 to $450
I see what you mean, thats crazy!
excuse me, but I fail to see the justification for a $1400 price tag on a tent. At that price, a generator, heater, and facilities should be included
These ShiftPods are just an overpriced Ice Fishing Tent.. The company that makes these things are just hoping nobody has a friend from a cold climate who will point them toward much better options from Eskimo (among other brands) who offer the same tent design for a fraction of the cost..
your links dodgy wont load
Damn, just tried it. Worked for me!
way over priced for general public.
Yeah its a bit steep I agree. I think its for people that really want something like this and thats it.
Man the shitpod is over price it is made in American it cost like gold.
Zippity Duda bye bye.
Great video....but 1600 dollars...no thanks
Yeah its a bit steep I admit but think how cool it would be to live in a spaceship?! ;)
You lost me at having to install and remove the floor each time you set it up.
I actually left mine in and have had it for 3 years and its better in my opinion because you keep the shiftpod cleaner.
Shit pod.

Heavy and expensive! It take an L..
Its funny I agree on one level butttt for how fast it sets up and the protection it gave me, Im not sure I wouldn't buy another!
