The notes are gentle and drops like dews on grass. It's so sensual. It exudes softness..I saw him perform in Vancouver in October.
After suffering a headache that won’t go away, only some Bach by Schiff could help me feel calm and better ❤
Laying in bed while listening to Bach just brings great joy to me. I'm grateful.
Never heard so many grace notes and embellishments. Beautiful 😍
in schiff's hands,anything sounds heavenly
I knew Andras Schiff's name by looking at records but I had never listened to him nor to Bach's Inventions (I know almost every other keyboard works). It's a pity I'm discovering his playing only now but... better late than never ! Magnificent. It's the kind of very delicate performance that I love on Bach's music.
And who cares if they were "exercises" ? Many pieces by the composer are apprently labelled as such and that's probably why he was despised for almost centuries., before being discovered again in the middle of the 20th century - maybe better appreciated than he had ever been... These inventions - performed this way - are really beautiful music, with this unique talent for counterpoint. Yohann Sebastian Bach was too humble, probably.
Probably the best Bach player alive. Check out the French and English suites.

Really excellent! He plays music, not speed. Speed crushes the meaning.
It doesn't get better than this...sublime!
Is it possible that this addictive? I don't seem to be able to stop listening to it.
Gyorfi Anna me neither hahahaha
Gyorfi Anna this the twentieth time that I am listening to it
each voice is so beautifully consistent and separate
Too good! This playing leads me deep into the world of Bach's transcendental imagination of musical beauty.
To imagine these were mere practise improvisations that he just write down for fun. Years of piano students played this to death.
I know Im randomly asking but does anyone know a way to get back into an Instagram account?
I stupidly forgot my account password. I love any help you can give me
@Major Kai Instablaster =)

Beauty of this makes me cry..
This talented pianist " has composed" new and very fresh invention and opened our minds for the next ones which we can make ourselves.Let's try!
It's so interesting!!!
Most beautifully played.
Elegant, secure, well-mannered, polite, sensible, sensitive, polished and , well,
just damn´ good.
Guys it's not too much ornamentation, don't forget that inventions are basically musical exercises! Schiff is one of the most talented modern pianists, his touch is pretty unique.
The first invention with the triplets is actual an alternate versión contained in the autograph 1723

It's very beautyful!
Nagyon szép!
Das ist sehr schön!
Magnifique!
Molto belle queste interpretazioni!
I play most of these inventions myself as an amateur and I really like Schiff's interpretation and flawless execution. Kudos!
Other than that, Bach is a unique genius... but that's not breaking news :-)
Dear Irish; You're funny. Blessings.
That's really nice and clear interpretation.
Bravo!!
🌹 "Classical music is a testament to time, resurrecting profound and mystical emotions within each note." 🎼✨
I personally love the ornamentation.
I do not. Find it awful.
The phrasings and articulations were superb! Truly beautiful playing!
Phrasings are how the performer communicates the beginning middle and ending of a musical thought. This is accomplished by a combination of dynamics and small silences placed between the notes.
i agree
Fantastic!
Listen also to Tatiana Nikolayeva for a very different (and totally wonderful) perspective on these splendid pieces.
Amazing tone, especially invention 15..
T T いい
Very good!
Gracias.
just awesome
Really nice invention
Beauuuutiiiiiifuuul!!!!!
Awesome
Love the music
la máxima expresión de arte : )
thank you!
Listen also to Tatiana Nikolayeva for a different (and totally wonderful) perspective on these splendid pieces.
the ornamentation of the n. 1 is in the manuscript, but with a different ink: i don't think that it is an original meaning of bach
but
wonderful performance indeed!
Always the best!
My personal reference recording of this 15 musical perfections. (called "inventions" in Bachs language of understatement). Who but Bach could restrict himself on two lines, and yet the listener (and player as well) don´t miss the slightest thing ?
Those aren't "ornamentations" in the 1st Invention. It's a different Version(1a) BY Bach.
13:34 its my favourite one
We all learned it from "Switched On Bach."
@@samuelcampos217 the easiest is the first invention 8 is the third on that line
@@samuelcampos217 for a good pianist this piece actually needs 1 day to learn and master
@@t_mm_r invention not written for "master" pianist
Good substitute for meditation!
I like h-moll-invention 15
Famicom Detective Club Part II track: 15. h-moll 23:26
When you listen to Mr Schiff playing invention no. 1 then you try and copy it, but come away unable to play it with his ornaments, or even as Bach originally wrote it!!? 😅🤣😭🥰🤪🥵
Yes. Big emotions!!!

Crazy trills lol
Interesting
In case anyone's interested in music for 2 pianos... I've just completed writing arrangements of all of Bach's 2 part inventions. One piano part remains as Bach's original, whilst the other plays a new additional piano part. Available via my website: www.simonpeberdymusic.com
what?
Invention No. 11 at 17:50
It is good
Where in the world did you find a copy of the first invention with those triplets? Sounds wonderful... but surprising. I love the way one can play Bach in so many different ways and still hear the simplicity of the human heart. Thank you for being you dear. CVD
good

As for articulation, if you see a Bach score, he hardly ever writes any indications besides notes. 2 things - there was a consensus on Baroque playing style so anything Bach wrote would be redundant (generalising here) but this has now been somewhat lost to the ages perhaps aside from historically informed performances. It also means that the performer is free to interpret how he pleases.
METATRON!
a spiritual ballet
Please don’t put ads on these kinds of videos. Going from Bach to an Extra gum commercial is really jarring. As for the music, no need for any comment - we can all hear how wonderful it is!
Are you guys sure this is Andras Schiff? I have his recordings of the inventions and it definitely sounds a little different and different tempo....maybe he did two recordings or this is another pianist? Any ideas?
Afaik he has only one studio recording of the inventions and sinfonias from around 1985.
@@ampac It seems like this is a different recording released by Denon, recorded in 1977. I like this one a lot better.
Invention 4, like Ussain Bolt running the 100 m, but without missing any of the beauty..
My only point of criticism are the ornaments in the first invention.
FirstGentleman1 Bach wrote two versions for the first invention and Schiff played the second
My only point of criticism is all these notes between the first and the last ones.
guess Schiff thought it could be a little more baroque
where has this recording come from? I want to buy it on cd
It's on Decca.
Request to the uploader: could you please remove the '~' symbols from the times in the description? that way they can work as links within the video. Thanks!
I edited :)

You can compare it to a poem. Do you think that the written form of the poem will be the same in the hands of everybody?

Both editions I have of this show that as being a c double sharp in bar 31 of the sixth invention. What gives?
@Luka Meah Yes, there is an F## and a C## on M31 of invention No 6. These two notes occur between M29-43 since the piece is in a region of g# and c# minor tonality and not E major.
Go hear G. Gould.
at least in the c major

and for Ayala, especially 13:29 and 20:29

.
Camillo Flaim te l’ha detto Bach? 🤔

That's the beauty of great music and being human in that everyone can interpret their own meaning from the same source. Think of reading someone's facial expression and how many ways it can be subtly interpreted - a smile can be a grin, a smirk, beaming, while it can also be forced and hiding something. While the fundamental is there, it speaks to everyone individually.
mah!...
Too precious, and even a bit dull. I know many people adore Schiff but besides playing note perfect I don't think he brings much to the table. Argerich is far superior, to name one of many
14:29 is the piece, i'm playing!
Gergő Zalán Bíró
You are playing the best piece ever.
Wow! Wonder if u can also play "Very Softly & Far Away".....Thanks!

To the complete opposite of this is Serial music where every note/marking has it's place and does not stray from it.
