FAQs??
-How many squares do I need for a baby blanket?
This can vary, it really can be however big or small you like, but i generally do 4x4 or 5x5.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How many chains shall I do for a *single/double/etc' blanket?
Again, this can vary. I would suggest that you do your chain and lay it down agains the bed you are wanting it for. It should be the same width. You should then ad a few more to make it a little wider.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How much yarn do I need?
Unfortunately, I will be able to answer individuals questions about how much yarn you would used do to multiple factors affecting it. Such as, your tension, the size of hook and the yarn being used.

I am a Full Time content creator for my Blog and RUclips.
Thank you so much for taking the time to make left handed tutorials. I really appreciate it.
You're very welcome 🙂
Thank you so much, i made my 1st square thanks to you ! 😊 all the best and I'll be learning more from you darling 😘
You are very welcome and good luck with your crochet journey :)
I am so grateful for these videos! I am a lefty and have found most things difficult! These videos, however are slow and explain every step throughly. I first learned how to crochet as a girl guide, and my troop leader was also left handed! I lost the ability to crochet over the years and have recently decided to refresh my skills. Thank you for your helpful videos!!
You're very welcome :)
I've always wanted to learn and now I have a little swatch proving I can do it as a left handed person. I'm so happy to be able to do it thank you thank you thank ypu
You are very welcome :)
left hand and a visual of the stitches!! I have had a hard time finding an actual visual of which loops to continue the crochet after the first row. I have been crocheting into the back loop, or the front loop, and neither looked right!! And now I see it's because I needed to include both. THANK YOU!!
You're very welcome :)
I'm back! As a left handed person, thank you so much for your videos again! I have a question. Can I use this stitch to make a laptop pouch? How do I tie the edges if I do so? Thank you, Bella Coco!
You're welcome! 😊 Yes, you could use this for a laptop pouch. You can simply sew the sides together, or work a row of double crochet along them (I would do this with the right sides facing together so you can flip it the right way afterwards, with the seams hidden inside.
@@bellacococrochet Yay! Thank you so much! ♥
Super video thank you
You're very welcome :)
ive rewatched this video so many times and i cant get it right. its a great video i just cant seem to get it right, i need help
You have to remember that crochet is practice and patience so do't give up, keep trying and it will get easier :)
@@bellacococrochet thank you :) i did lean a bit i sit like 5 hours outside just learning and i got it a bit better. its still doesn't look that right but its better. thank you
How do you do this?? I've been stuck on doing a single/double chain for the last week. The chain always gets to tight??
I would recommend going up a hook size for the chain stitches, and then sizing back down again; this will make it easier to insert your hook and make your stitches 😊
do we go back and forth between the double crochet and triple crochet each row? like first row double next row triple, next row double next row triple?
No it's UK double only, so each row is double crochet :)
I somehow got three on my hook sound 3:36 anyone know if I did anything wrong?
Do you have a right handed tutorial or is it relative?
Hi Armiah their is a link in the description box underneath the video, however here is the right handed video link:- ruclips.net/video/80YEYnyw11w/видео.html :)

Umm so my 'V' is upsode down... What did I do 😂😂
Are you working the right way, from left to right? 😊
@@bellacococrochet honestly I couldnt tell you 😂😂 the hook is in my left hand if that helps at all?
My 85 year old mum who is also left handed tried teaching me to crochet and had really hard time doing it. She had to teach herself as no one could teach her either, this was years ago before the invention of computers and internet. It’s almost as if crocheting was invented only for right handed people. Told her I’ll go to RUclips and see if there’s a tutorial. Thank you so much for this! Everything looks “normal” to me with you doing it left handed. When I see right handed people crocheting, it looks awkward and uncomfortable.
You're very welcome 😀
Quick hint: Your mom can teach you things by doing it in front of a mirror. (That's how my left handed grandma taught my mom to write)
Yes. You are so right. I've had people try teaching me but it was awkward. I finally think I'm learning because of this video.
I love that you make left handed videos too it’s a huge help!
You're very welcome :)
@@bellacococrochet Jul
Yes! I’m just beginning….like today, and being left handed can make crafts like this very difficult.
I'm just beginning today and it's great that you do videos for left handed. Hope I get the hang
Thank you so much, I’m a lefty and I have the hardest time trying to learn right handed...
You're very welcome :)
Thank you so much for this left handed tutorial!! Everyone always tells me to 'just mirror it' but it's so hard when you're an absolute beginner and trying to learn something completely new at the same time!
You're so welcome and good luck with your crochet journey :)
this was my exact same experience when i tried to learn from my mom. i'm left-handed and she's right-handed and she'd always get frustrated when i got confused by her telling me to just mirror it. not very easy to translate it in your head when you're not even sure what its supposed to look like in the first place!
Thank you so much for this! As a child I was made to feel so awkward for being a leftie and that I would never be able to crochet. Tonight in 10 minutes I have made 3 rows and am feeling really proud of myself 😁
You're welcome and well done :)
Omg
I've been struggling with the right handed ones until I found out you also have these. Thank you so much
You are so very welcome :)
Best left handed tutorial I’ve come across! Thank you for sharing! This was extremely helpful for my left handed brain! 🥲
You are very welcome :)
Just started learning to crochet with your videos and discovered you’ve done videos for us lefties too. Thank you so much!
You are very welcome :)
This is so refreshing! Ppl have no idea how hard this can be being left handed! I suffered with right handed desks in school! Etc! I wanted to crochet for years but gave up because I just couldn’t wrap my mind around using my right hand 😂 im getting yarn and supplies today!
I'm glad it will help :)
Thank you for making this left handed Tutorial! I was relearning how to crochet since I did very little as a kid (it was difficult because my right handed sister tried teaching me). Thought I could try again and this video makes so much sense to me.
You're very welcome 😀
I'm so late, but thank you so much for this! In a fashion class we're learning crochet, yet the teacher is right handed. Though she sent me these videos and I can really understand, you're very clear with your instructions
I'm glad that they helped you :)
I’m having a hard time with the double loops. Any advice?
same :(
Looking at it from the top helped me! Make sure the hook goes through the entire 'v', and not just one half.
my son wants a toothless crochet toy and I did this a long time ago and I forgot how been doing this all day over and over again and I think I finally got it down for now. also thanks for doing it left handed and being clear every step of the way.
You are very welcome and well done :)
I am so happy to have found someone left handed. It was so hard to learn as a kid with my mom being right handed. These videos are so easy to follow. Thank you so much for your videos
You are very welcome :)
fabulous, yours is the clearest most easy video to follow slow and many repeats to watch
so i actually feel like i am able too crochet my infinity scarf now thx so much 😊
You are very welcome 😊
I too have spent hours trying to work out right to left. Now I have finally got over row 1. Thank you
You are very welcome :)
Thank you so much for the left handed tutorial!! You taught me to crochet in a matter of minutes 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
You are very welcome :)
My friend showed me these videos instead of teaching me themselves, so half way through this on I said out loud “please mommy explain with more context” they started laughing at me 😞
Thank you for making these left-handed crochet videos! I’m just starting to learn and very happy to have found your channel. 😊
You are very welcome, I'm glad that they are helping you :)
Thank you so so much! I got some crotchet stuff for Christmas and my granny tried teaching me, but as I am a lefty I couldn’t get it right. I also received a crotchet book and tried to follow it but it was also for right handed people! Then I went on RUclips and found this!! Thank you so much for taking your time to help everyone to be able to do crotchet and not only right handed people!! It really helped me because you explain everything very clearly so I really appreciate it. I subscribed btw and hopefully I will learn to do crotchet!
Ana xx
You are very welcome and thank you for subscribing :)
I’ve just decided to learn to crochet and wouldn’t even know where to begin if I hadn’t found your left handed video’s, thank you! I can’t wait to learn over the next few days 😬💕
You are so welcome :)
So I'm right handed, but I crochet left handed. I tried right handed 3 times and it felt wrong and weird. (I'm also a knitter.) But this was great thank you so much. It no longer looks backwards ans weird.
I'm glad it was of help, I've heard quite a few people say that they are right handed but crochet left handed :)
Thank you for making a series for lefties! I had a stroke 5 years ago and was right handed. I have adapted my knitting but could not find clear instructions on crochet for left. My right hand has some movement so I think I can manage holding the yarn! I’m excited the try this out!
You are very welcome :)
This is the first time I have watched this done for left hand. As a lefty this makes soooo… much more sense! Your instruction is wonderful. Thank you so much ! Looking forward to using this to learn a new craft!
You are very welcome :)
Loving these left handed videos as wanted to crochet but no one can show me right handed. I can see happy hours of crochet from now on
Thank you do muchhhhhhh for posting this left handed videos it really helps me it seem as miracle cause i am trying to learn crochet from 1 month but its so hard coz all videos are right handed and my teacher is also right handed she said you cant learn coz you are lefty start doing it with right hand i was so broken and its to hard for me to do it with right hand thank. You so much and i have a question - my crochet doesnt seem to be in line it goes uneven double crochet again thankyou so much i wish i could do a voice note to thank you😅😇😇
You're so welcome, I'm really happy to hear that I've helped you - you absolutely can learn to crochet as a lefty and many crochet patterns are beginning to be written for both left and right handedness 😊 Is it possible you're missing out some stitches by mistake? It can be easy to do this as a beginner but you will get better at learning where you should be inserting your hook the more you practise. Using thicker yarn such as aran weight can help 😊
Brilliant video! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video for us left-handers! I was able to pick this up straight away ☺️☺️☺️
Thank you and you are very welcome :)
Thank you so much! As a lefty I really appreciate this series!!
You're very welcome :)
So glad I found your videos. I’m very new to crochet 🧶. I’m also left handed, so these tutorials are very helpful. Thank you so much for making these videos. I hope to get the hang of it soon!
You are very welcome and remember that crochet is practice and patience so keep trying and it will get easier :)
Ugh, it all finally makes sense! I’ve been trying to learn crotchet for about a year now and kept giving up because I couldn’t learn the most basic parts and it took watching your videos to realize that it’s because I was trying to learn right handed lessons as a cripplingly left handed person. This is a game changer
I'm glad I could help :)
Day by day I’m getting better. Smaller steps possible but with your video I’m hopeful that one day I’ll be able to make something cute
I have tried SO many times to learn to crochet and until your video, I just couldn’t get it. Something about this one just made it click so thank you SO much for sharing your talent.
You’re very welcome 😊
I never thought I can learn crochet by my own due to my bad coordination and the fact that I am left handed. You prove me wrong :) I just made my first 3 lines or crochet, yes they look horrible, yes some parts are more loose than others but I made it! You are amazing
Well done for not giving up, you have to remember that crochet is practice and patience so keep trying and it will get easier :)
Im a left hander I taught myself how to crochet right handed because i thought it be easier as it more common. If only i knew of left handed crochet. Its a little awkward doing left handed now but once i get my muscle memory id be able to crochet left and right. I can write with both hands but more left dominant so be a piece of cake.
I can knit but I have never crocheted so I've got my crochet stick and yarn coming tomorrow I'm just gonna try a small simple blanket as my testerso I can get used to this I've knitted for blankets my kids have got them all but I want to try crocheting this seems pretty simple to do famous last words lol I see how I go hopefully I d smash it in one go just seems like the technique slightly different but simple enough thanks
Thank you so much! As a left-handed person who knits I wanted to learn to Crochet also and now, thanks to you!! Blessings!!
You are very welcome :)
My sisters tried to teach me to crochet years ago but they are both right handed so i never could figure things out. Now that I've been knitting for a few years i wanted to try crochet again, finding a left handed crafter is awesome. Thank you for sharing your skills.
You are very welcome :)
I have a cool pattern that’s making me do both right handed (I’m rh) AND left handed crochet and I’m like WHAT
Thank you so much for this left handed tutorial! Makes it so much easier for me!
You're so welcome :)
I tried following another one that was not left handed and just confused the bejeezes out of myself! Thankful that I came across your tutorials for left handers! Yay! Yay! Yay! Thanks so much. Very easy and clear to follow! 😊
You are very welcome and glad it was helpful :)
Yay another lefty « hooks « up.
Help my first slip knot keeps on slipping when I try to pull both of them through :,( any tips ?
thank you! I gave up trying to crocheting and knitting because I could never find a good understanding lefty video but thankfully you make this and I hope soon I will make my own creations!!
You are very welcome :)
Thank you so much! I can't believe I have actually managed some crotchet for the first time ever. Very well explained. I am looking forward to learning more with your videos.
You are very welcome :)
These are the best videos I've found for beginners!!! Very thorough and makes it very easy to learn- thank you!!!
You're very welcome 😀
I'm a little lost -- I wish this showed the completion of a few additional rows, because I'm not sure what to do at the end of each row as you build more. When you get to the end of row 3 (and 5, 7, 9, etc.) do you just do a stitch and turn the work as you did with row 1? And then, regarding the stitch that was done into the bottom corner at the end of row 2 -- does something like that get done at the end of every even-numbered row?
After completing row two you're simply repeating that same row until you reach the size you want; it doesn't matter whether it's an odd or even numbered row, it will work up the same 😊
I don’t know why I’m struggling so much with this. I feel like I visually understand what you’re doing and try to copy it but it doesn’t seem to be working out for me 😩 super frustrating
You have to remember that crochet is practice and patience so keep trying and it will get easier :)
This tutorial is absolutely amazing! I have been trying to learn how to crochet for the longest time but always had problems learning due to lefty issues. Following this video is the first time I have ever been able to finish anything other than a chain with any successful results. I was a little confused about when to throw in the stitch before flipping it to start a new row (mine seemed to lose the defined edges), but besides this, I had no questions at all. Everything was well explained and gave plenty of time to grasp the concept (with multiple reps) before moving on. Thank you so much for completing these. I can't wait to go watch the other ones!
You are very welcome, remember to count count count, its really important to make sure that you are not loosing or picking up stitches. Good luck with your crochet journey :)
My crochet ended up kind of folding(?) on ome corner, any tips how to avoid this? Is it because There’s too muchtension on my yarn?
I would make sure you have the same number of stitches each row, and that you aren't skipping any by mistake. It could be due to tension, which will improve the more you practise. Crochet does have a tendency to curl at first too, so you may find that after working a few more rows, it begins to lay flatter 😊
This is my very first try and I cant get passed the loop thing where you make the chain for the first time mine won't do right and im already frustrated!! I was so excited this is my first day and I was waiting to get my stuff and im stuck!! 😭🥺
You have to remember that crochet is practice and patience, don't give up keep trying and it will get easier. If you find yourself getting frustrated put your work down and go back to it later or even the next day. Good luck :)
I am really struggling with this, I can do the first line fine but the second line is tricky, I have taken it out and started again 10 times I don't know what I am doing wrong
It can be tricky to get the hang of at first but don't give up 😊 The second row looks different to the first as you're working into actual stitches, instead of chain stitches. When you look at them from the top you should see each stitch makes a V shape; you need to insert your hook underneath each V 😊
Thank you for this! I still am struggling with the tension and making it too tight but I love your videos so helpful!
You are very welcome, tension is one of the hardest parts of crochet to get right, practice and patience is the key so the more you do the easier it will become :)
Ahh this is a lifesaver as a beginner lefty! I had a quick question, does the initial row of chains count as a row that would need to be turned afterwards, or does the turning only begin after that first row of dc?
You don’t need to turn after your chains as your hook is already in the correct position to work along them; you just need to turn at the end of the row once you’ve began working actual stitches 😊
my highest record is 4 stitches and I'm proud of that.
i know this is five years old but this was so simple that i was able to catch on within a couple hours, thank you so much for looking out for us lefties!!!
I'm glad it helped :)
I did this but I noticed mine looks more like a flag shape than a rectangle… I’m not sure why is not straight :(
I’d make sure you have the correct number of stitches for each row; it’s easy to skip a stitch or work a stitch into the same space by accident. It helps if you use stitch markers to mark out each stitch at first too 😊
I'm left handed, but my right little finger was sawed off and reattached straight with no knuckle. I can't hold the yarn tight .
I'm glad that they helped you :)
The fact tht you taught me in less than 24 how to stitch/double stitch & I knew NOTHING about crotchet before, is PHENOMENAL 🥹🙏🏾 TYSMMMM
You're welcome :)
Thank you so much... I'm a leftie and all l can say is l thought crochet was meant for right handed people 😊
You are welcome :)
i am very grateful for this! i am not left handed but i need to learn how to crochet left handed, because i am trying to teach my left handed friend to crochet and it wont be very helpful for her for me to show her how to right handed crochet. thank you!
You're welcome :)
omggg i thought this would've been hard! my hand feels a little cramped but i did it first try 😼
Well done and remember that crochet is practice and patience so the more you do the easier it will become :)
Thank you for this left handed series! I am a 38 year old man learning this.
You are very welcome :)
My stitches end up twirling around so when I come to stitch the second row I can’t tell the difference so the stitches end up all crazy how do I stop the twirling
Crochet does have a tendency to spiral until you've worked quite a few rows; you just have to use your fingers to straighten it out and hold it flat as you work into it 😊
Thank you very much! I finally managed to make a square swatch due to your excellently filmed and clear instruction for lefties!
You're very welcome :)
Thank you so much. I have tried to learn how to count stitches and how I’m supposed to turn my work so many times and this is the first video that I could tell what you were talking about every single step!
You're very welcome :)
THANK YOU 🙏🏻!!!! No one can teach me. Lefties suffer so much 😂🤣
You're welcome :)
An hour ago I was freaking out bc my first ever crochet kit had all the instructions for right-handed people and unadapted for total beginners. Thanks to your videos now it all makes sense to me bc it's left-handed and made much easier. Now I can't wait to get used to chrochetting and I feel like it's not so hard !
Thank you so much for making these videos, I had been wanting to learn how to crochet for years and my mom and grandma tried teaching me, but they’re both right-handed and I’m a lefty so I didn’t really get it. I just have one question; do you count the slipknot as a stitch in the chain and if so, why make the chain 11 stitches long and not 10?
By the way, this is the best left-handed tutorial I have come across 😁
You are very welcome. The slip knot does not count as a chain :)
I think I'm holding the yarn wrong but it's to tight and I'm failing every time
The way I show you how to hold the yarn in the video is just a guide and I would really recommend experimenting and trying different ways to see what suits you best. If you find you're pulling too tightly you can try and relax your grip, and also going up a hook size may help you. Remember that it takes practise and patience to learn a new skill so don't give up 😊
i love your channel.. you’re so thorough 😊
I’m teaching young girls to crochet but two are left handed. I will try to learn do crochet using this method but it isn’t easy. Thanks
I do both left and right handed tutorials :)
@@bellacococrochet I how to. Crochet so I could teach the right handed girls but not the lefties who really tried. I will learn how using your video. It’s uncomfortable using my left hand. Some people say I should teach them like a right handed person because the patterns are meant for right handed people, what do you think?
Thanks for your response. I have subscribed to your channel and liked it.
I am struggling to relax while i am.doing it. I am struggling yarn over
You have to remember that crochet is practice and patience so the more you do the easier it will become :)
Thank you😊 my right hand is sprained and out of commission.
Oh no I hope it's better soon :)
Thank you you explained it so well, best video out of all the ones i saw
You're very welcome :)
Thank you so much for this, easy and beautiful!!! 🙏🏼😇
watching this i got a little carried away and made a circle.....
It’s all good practice 😊 Just remember to count as you go and turn at the end of each row.
Thank you! It's taken quite a few attempts over a couple of years and finally I am beginning to crochet thanks to you. Being left handed just throws people off, even if the teacher is a well accomplished crocheter. It's quite funny until it becomes quite sad. I've cast on double stitches with the aim to make a cloth and after 3 rows I am confident I'll have this completed tonight. Thanks again, from Australia
You are very welcome and well done for not giving up :)
Thanks so much for the left handed video I never used to know how to do crotchet but now I do and I would like to say thank you 😍
You are very welcome :)
@@bellacococrochet but then bella I need to know why my crotchet is not straight and crooked what could be the problem?😊
Even though I am left handed I can't seem to use my left hand to crochet instead i can use my right hand
I have actually heard a few people say this, I think you have to crochet whichever is the best way for you :)
@@bellacococrochet OMG I didn't think you would actually reply to me as you are very busy and have many other comments. But if you see my reply may you please make a crochet scrunchies video? As I am a beginner and do not understand other crochet RUclipsrs that well.Thank you
hello! thank you so much for these videos, they've been super helpful in getting started.
I do have a question though if it's not too much trouble. if I'm working with a circular pattern, will it still look like two close-together loops during the step around 5:58? thanks!
You're very welcome 🙂 Yes, even if you are working circular, a stitch will always have two sides and look like two close together loops.
Regretting starting with 4mm wool and hook...
If you are struggling you may want to go up a hook size or two :)
Righty trying to learn lefty ways. I think I can.
Let me know how you get on :)
Brilliant that you teach left handed and at a slow speed so I can follow you. This is my first go using vidios,as I have tried using books without success I am feeling chuffed that I am able so far to make a reasonable pattern I will practice lots more before embarking on making something functual
You are very welcome I'm so glad that they have helped you :)
I'm mixed handed due to which I write and eat using my right hand but do most of my other activities like chopping, playing sports and others by my left hand. Have been looking into crocheting recently but the first time I held the needle in my right hand I freaked out. So thank you so much for this left handed tutorial. I have been able to do a few stitches as of now and I know practice will make me better😊😊 thanks again!
You are very welcome and good luck with your crochet journey :)
I learned it so quick!Thank you🥰
You’re welcome and well done 😊
How do you know what hole you have to go through
When you are working into the chain, you need to insert the hook through each little circle. When you are working actual rows, you need to look at the top of the piece to see a 'v' shape, and this is what you should be inserting your hook under. Hope this helps! 🙂
