Your nesting technique is awesome. I tried it and it works great. I have been quilting for several years and never managed to get every intersection so well matched. THANK YOU,
Becky I have always as you said gone crazy with corner squares. You solution is genius. I've never heard any other teacher explain not the problem of coming up short but the solution. I will use you method of marking the short side from now on. Thankyou.
YAAAY! I hope that helps. Once I understood WHY they weren't working, I was able to figure out a solution that works perfect every time. Had I not been a garment seamstress and understood turn of cloth for collars, I'd of never figured it out. Making that little mark on the short side allows you to mark a stack at one time. Without the mark, you can draw a line but if you sew the large side to trim off, it won't fit. Glad to help! Good luck!
These videos came to me backwards - just getting to Video #1 - now understand ScanNCut making a SVG file from the scanned page. Then use other software to make it an applique! Thanks for great instructions!
I'm behind!! Ordering my products now (April) and excited to jump in to learn how to add quilting skills to my embroidery since you shared how this was a good learning/skill builder project! I'm trying to find the files on a USB or via download instead of a CD so I hopefully don't need to buy a CD drive to hook up to my computer. I'll contact the quilt shop and see what options they have. I'm excited to join along and learn! Thanks!
Thank you Becky, I’m excited to learn how to use my new scan n cut and my BES4 that was purchased just before the pandemic . Now I’m in pursuit to find the book. I’ll be checking with my local quilt shops first thing in the morning. If I hit a brick wall, I’ll call all brand.
Gals at my embroidery store said to use the product Awesome from dollar Tree to clean stuff off mat. They had used felt to demo the store machine, got all that off of mat.
Becky, you probably already know this but you can protect your mat from the fleece by putting down clear contact paper and then removing after you cut.
I already have the CD and book for these, and am so very excited to start this journey with you! Looking forward to my new table toppers! Thank you, Becky!
Thank you so much for the tip in you video pt. 1…..I really needed to see how to sew those squares on the diagonal without them being short on one side. That has been a big problem for me…..now I got it! Currently picking out my fabrics & can’t wait until my pattern book gets here, so I get get started with prepping my fabric using your method. Your the best, Becky ❤️
Great tip for doing corner squares. I have always tried to sew a thread width away from the line without the best result. This way seem less stressful.
I just cleaned my sewing room and pulled these two off the shelf! I was so happy to find this and that you’re gonna do all of the months!! Is there any chance you would do the Birthday Table Topper, too? It’s in the vault for $6!! Let me know:)
Love your channel! Found you when you taught the Designs by Juju end to end quilting. I have both the book and the embroidery designs that I purchased several years ago, but have never done so I’m excited about the tutorials for this. I can’t find the links to products that you reference or your Amazon link. Not You Tube savvy here. Can someone help?
you had a measuring guide on your machine that was tape and red lines to sew correctly where did you get that or did you make yourself. Oh and love your videos.
Hi Merry Christmas just started to watch your RUclips and straight away thought great I will do this with but as usual can’t get it in the UK I have just emailed them to find out if it’s available but guess just have watch. I know you not using Embrilliance In this video but I just wanted to say I used it to convert some embroidery files into SVG files thanks to your RUclips. It work fantastic you really do explain things well thank. Jan, from a very wet and windy Wales Uk.
Yes, I too like to use Embrilliance to make the svg files if I don't have them on the CD. They come on the CD for this project however. This is so fun!
Hello Becky! - I have a question on the table top cuties - August. I am fairly new to embroidering and quilting but have quickly fallen in love with it. My question is : on the August table top, I saw your video that you quilted the entire topper before adding the appliques. So, before I cut the #3 fabric (white - where appliques go), it states to cute 14" x 14". Should I actually make it a little larger due to the fact that it may shrink due to the quiltin?
Becky, you are the best teacher! I can’t wait to start this project which is the best mix of everything. You are an enabler too - I spent too much time adding things from your Amazon page to my wish list. I couldn’t find the pattern/book holder. Is that on your page? BTW, I love that piecing machine and don’t regret getting mine last year. I love having this machine with my babylock journey.
Thanks for the heads up. I just added the book holder to my Amazon store in Sewing/Quilting Favorites. I think I bought that before I created my store. I love that thing!
When I look at ordering the book and the CD the CD description on one website says I'd need a 7x8 embroidery field...but when listening to your video I thought my 6x10 (largest my Flourish does) would work. Can you confirm or deny? I just bought my Flourish (first embroidery machine) and I've always wanted to learn to quilt...seems like if I can use my 6x10 hoop, this would be the perfect place to follow along and learn. Ready to order the book and cd, but not if my hoop won't work🤷♀️
The back cover of the embroidery design CD says you need a 6x8 embroidery field. All the designs on the back have their measurements and they all will fit in your 6x10. Your 6x10 should be fine.
@@PowerToolsWithThread perfect, thank-you! I'm just starting to learn. I wasn't even sure if the working space was 6x10 or just the hoop size. Measured my hoop a bit ago and its 12x7.5" or something like that. So, working stitch space is 6x10. I'll learn. I can't wait to be able and follow you to learn🥰Off to order now.
No, unfortunately, this is for at least a 6x8 hoop. However, you could make the topper using the pattern book and then do the applique the old fashioned way by sewing the designs down. If you have Embrilliance or other software, you might be able to resize some of them down to fit.
I hope to get an embroidery machine one day and I have a question, you talk about a CD but my computer does not have a CD player, do the embroidery machines have one? Happy New Year!❤️
You can buy a stand alone CD player that hooks up to your computer thru the USB and shows up in Explorer as a drive like using a thumb drive. Not terribly expensive. Amazon has them for $22.98
No, emb machines don't have them either. You'll need an external CD drive and then transfer the designs from the CD to your laptop and then save them from the laptop to a USB stick. If you ever get an embroidery machine, make sure it takes a USB and not an old one that uses those cards. Many of the new ones have wireless ability to receive the designs wirelessly, but that's hit and miss right now.
So am I correct in understanding that BES4 is built into PE Design 11? Do you happen to know? I ordered both but if I don't need the CD I'd rather send it back and save the money
BES4 is not part of PE Design (to my knowledge). The ability for BES4 to create the embroidery applique file is through a File/Import FCM command on the menu and you cannot import FCM files into PE Design.
My brother 3600d is no threading the needle “it’s trying”. I’ve already done all the simple trouble shooting techniques….. change the needle , rethread, Off/ on. Nothing works. Help me🥲
Oh sweetie...I wish I could help. Is the needle in all the way? If so, push the Presser Foot UP button so it's at the highest point and then try again. If the presser foot isn't all the way up, it won't thread it correctly. Hope that helps!
I'm so glad I watched your video before I started making the snowball blocks, which I have never done before. Thank you so much for the great tip.
Your nesting technique is awesome. I tried it and it works great. I have been quilting for several years and never managed to get every intersection so well matched. THANK YOU,
Becky thank you so much for what you do.

AS always I look forward to your videos. I find inspiration and I learn so much. Thank you for being so generous with your time and your knowledge!!!
Thank you so much!
Love this, will be doing this along with you. Thanks Becky

I would love to win a Bella box. Thank you Lady M for your generosity. I love learning new techniques and new shops and sponsors
You are the best. Taking everyone in consideration and doing then all ways. Thanks so much.
Looking forward to joining this tutorial.
I just ordered the book, decided to make these with you Becky, I will hopefully get caught up quickly.
Love your turn of the cloth tip! Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your talent! Plan on sewing my topper soon too!

Will watch videos a few times each. I am just learning. Your work is perfect 😍
This topper is soooo cute.thanks again for all you do in showing HOW TO DO IT!
You are so welcome
I have had it for years & haven’t tried it yet. Looking forward to watching these & doing them at my own pace!
Love your videos. The topper is going to be so cute!

Love this. I can't afford the supplies so I will watch and do my own thing. Thank you Becky..you are a great teacher.💟
I have the embroidery CD & will be ordering the book. Looking forward to following along with you.
I already have the CD and book for these, and am so very excited to start this journey with you! Looking forward to my new table toppers! Thank you, Becky!
Excited to start this project as my sister gifted me with Simply Appliqué for Christmas…and my birthday…and sewing month… She’s the best.
I have the Brother PQ1500sl and love it.
BEST piecing machine on the market for the money!

Just ordered my book this evening. Looking forward to seeing with you all
Super great detailed tutorial. Thank you so much!
finally received my book! yippeeeeee
It’s beautiful 😍
I would love to have the love notes kit.
Great tip for doing corner squares. I have always tried to sew a thread width away from the line without the best result. This way seem less stressful.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for doing so muc.
Thank you for the video, I am noticing the book holder you have behind your machine. Can you tell me a little about it?m
I looked in her Amazon store, it’s there.
Hi Becky! I have that pattern book and your tutorial will help me get started! Thanks!
Yay Carol! Let's make some toppers!
Thanks so much Becky enjoyed this video
Glad you enjoyed it!
My book should be here by January 7th

@@PowerToolsWithThread Thank you so much for your quick reply!🤩
Becky what side is the short side the one you mark or the other side
The short side has the mark. That's the side you cut off.

@@PowerToolsWithThread thank you for updating!
I wish that you had held the one close to the camera so I could see the sewing line.
If I buy simply applique will I be able to change the files to the Jef format I need for my machines?
Yes! Simply Applique saves to a JEF format. :)
@@PowerToolsWithThread thank you!
Becky can I use a 8 x 10 hoop?
Yep! That will work just fine.

I am still having trouble understanding the nesting seams technique. Maybe in another video you can go over it again with a clearer view.
I'll try for a better angle next month.
If you purchase CD do you still need book
