    Nice Ranger! I'm a bit bummed out. I thought I was being original with my self made dash cluster. Full set of autometer gauge's in the exact same configuration and dual a-piller. Down to the black carbon fiber backing.😭 Lol. Oh well, both of ours are cool. Mine is a 1997 with a V8 also but a fresh 1966 289, forged with many many goodies. N/A and carbed.

    Nice looking truck! I have built MANY v8 s10-s, But tired of them. Fixing to do a efi v8-5 speed ranger, what are you guys doing with the wiring harnesses? Any cooling problems with ac on sitting in traffic? Don't know a whole lot about the rangers with v8's..

  • @19jody72
    @19jody72 8 лет назад +1

    Your truck is one of the reasons I'm doing a v8 swap! I was going to do a 98+ because of the coil springs up front, do you have any issues out of the I'beam's at high speads or alignment?

    • @fordfanjem
      @fordfanjem  8 лет назад

      +19jody72 Thanks man Its been a fun project. Money pit for sure. I haven't had any issues with the front suspension. It has poly bushings up front so that really helps stiffen it up. I do my own alignments but it wasn't any harder than any other vehicle to make drive straight. The nice part of coils would be not having the steering box on the frame rail. Its tough to find headers to clear the steering shaft. I built my own for the turbo setup but otherwise you are limited. Anything can be done with enough money though.

      +fordfanjem Aprecciate to info. was going to build an LS6 6 SPEED s10.. but hell I would have over 12k in just the basic swap . After further research.. the ranger is more in my budget for a toy. Again.. truck looks great and runs on down the track pretty good! Be safe!

      That's a clean truck I like it. My truck just has a 302 in it and I'm running a bigger turbo and stainless manifolds and e85 now. The setup in the video went 11.75 @118 mph. I just went to the track tonight and forgot my computer for tuning so couldn't fine tune it. Best time was 11.63 and best mph was 125. My torque converter is slipping bad so getting a new one this weekend. I'm chasing 10s this year and then I'm done. Just want to drive it

    Other than as a thematic choice, it's hard to imagine why anyone would choose to install Cobra brakes on a project like this. They are truly awful brakes, compared with more modern, comparably priced options.

    • @fordfanjem
      @fordfanjem  2 года назад

      The only down side I see so far is how heavy they are. They are way overkill on a small truck like this. A good 11in setup would have done just fine. As far as price I'm only 400 in the entire setup that includes the custom milled hubs.

    • @kevindavis5966
      @kevindavis5966 2 года назад +1

      @@fordfanjem If it was just a V6 Ranger, sure, but add power and speed, and mass is far less of a factor. I have a 570whp ‘03 Cobra with stock brakes and I can assure you, there are FAR better options. They’re next on the list of upgrades. If I had done the build myself, they would have been a much higher priority.

    • @fordfanjem
      @fordfanjem  2 года назад

      @@kevindavis5966 yea idk I've never had to push them to the limits. It ran low 10s on the street before my dart block and 6r80 build. I may be upgrading after doubling the hp haha.
