Thanks Lance, your video and step by step instructions have enabled me to set the governor on my 1957 MF 35 petrol tractor, so that it preforms so much better. You are a GEM !
Very good video Bundy and easy to follow your instructions. I noticed how all your jubilee clips are all neatly inline, your a man to my own heart, attention to detail, I bet all your split pins are nicely trimmed, it’s like a signature of the work you have done. Thanks for a great presentation 👍
Just set mine up this week after having the front end apart with leaking timing cover and govenor seal. I couldn't get it idling right, and finally worked out it was the vertical governor shaft not putting enough pressure on the horizontal governor arm!! I wound it out and now it's running like a dream 🙂. Just some advise for all the people seeing this. Thanks lance!!! Ur vids are amazing, and preserving many generations of tractor enthusiasts!!
Thanks for the great video, Bundy. It is really easy to follow and shows me how to get the governor adjusted on my TE-C-20. Much easier than following the instructions in the manual.

Hi Lance . My name is John vanden Akker. I live in London , Ontario in Canada . Thankyou for the tutorial on governor settings. I have just purchased a 1952 tea 20 that has not run for ten years. My fergie is outside amd today's temperature is -17 celcius. Your videos and personality are always a gift for me to watch. Thank yours
My screw doesn’t go in much at all and then it’s like it hits a dead stop no real tension at all just free then within a half turn it’s tight and it’s like it’s not holding it back it sounds like it will just keep revving if I let it
Just bought a TED 20 and I am really looking forward to watching all your videos. I have looked at this one and already have a question about the governor arm on mine.
@@BundyBearsShed it’s the arm on the governor. Mine has two holes. Not sure if the throttle one is in the right one. I will try and send a photo if I can. Thanks
Hi Lance, Just seen the latest video, a great explanation, I will run through it on my 1950 TEA 20 here in England, I'm slowly restoring and your videos have been giving me the confidence to get it done myself, It's been 30 years since I used to mess about with engines and i'm really enjoying it, I've just completed the tappets... thanks to you. Looking forward to the next. Thanks from the UK. Simon
Hi Lance, great explanation. I started my restauration 2 years ago. But with your videos i'll solve any problem. In Germany its not as easy to get all this information. Many thanks. Best regards from the Baltic Sea. Stay healthy and happy
Very helpful Lance, you clearly know your stuff, unlike many on RUclips! ( I saw one recently where a bloke started to put the carby onto a TE20 back to front!)
Thanks Dude. You just made my day. I have been having this problem for months on my tractor with no power kick when put under a load, your video just made it easy for me to fix and get her running much better. I now know too that my spring is just very worn out, so I ordered a new one and will be putting that in when it arrives. But for now she is running a lot better.
Mr Bears I too am having troubles with my rod. Where yours is sticky, mine is sloppy. I have looked behind where you stick it in the hole and it's just slopping around. After watching your video I see it can be adjusted, shall do it tomorrow. Thank you this is not the first time you videos have helped me. I have inherited a neglected 49 Fergie and I am determined to fix it, wouldn't be possible without your information, Thanks again.
I have been watching your videos, I grew up on a farm with three brothers and a guy cousin and my dad and uncle had a tractor repair business. I worked on tractors for years enjoy watching your videos, can’t do much anymore being 70 some years old with arthritis Keep up the great work!!!

That is very useful information, my governor shaft seems a bit sticky, so something is not right in the timing cover I think, looks like I have to take off the front axle and have a look in there. Chris B.

Great video Lance ☺️ I've just rebuilt my fergi engine been in the motor trade long didn't know nothing about tractor even though come from a farming background but your video really helpful 💯👍👌🥰
Thank you for this great instruction Lance. I adjusted my governor system after a complete service of the timing cover with new seals and even new needle bearings but I have one strange problem. When I open the throttle from idle position and go back to idle again like you do around 19.30 the link to the carburator does not move back to idle position. The link is moving when I open the throttle but when I close it the link does not move. Everything is working free and fine on the carburetor. My only idea is that the spring sitting on the rod is too long or not strong enough but the spring is new and the only length you find nowadays for sale. Description says it fits for TEA engine. The parts list says 2 different springs were available depending on the serial number under and over 100000. When the engine is running and I open and close the throttle the engine goes back to idle. A much bigger issue is that I cannot reach more than 1500 rpm because of the governor stepping in much too early. Without the links connected I can open the carburetor throttle and rev up much higher but as soon as the governor is working it pulls back the lever much too early. I will open the whole thing again and check the weights of the assemby first to compare with another weight assembly I still have somewhere.
@@BundyBearsShed I did exatly what you teached in the video and used the service handbook as well and the procedure is the same. It does not work and I reach only 1500rpm what could be the proof that you are right and I have to face the fact that I am to stupid to adjust my governor. And I have no idea why...
Hi Lance Looks like my Xmas wish came true and couldn't have come soon enough as I was getting really lost in the manual explanation. I have watched all of your vids on Tea20 which a true God send, keep up the good work.
You are an excellent teacher! I like how you don't leave out little tidbits of information. I have always avoided any work involving governors because i just don't understand them. My TEA20 had this annoying issue with the throttle leaver always wanting to be in the idle position. Today, thanks to your video, I figured out that the previous owner installed the idle arm and spring upside down. So instead of sitting below the Throttle rod, it was over the top.. Hopefully that fixed it! Thank you so much from Canada!
Awesome video! I hope it helps me. I rebuilt the carb on our to35 and pulled the clevis end off of the rod. I did measure the length but found out later I didn't get it back to previous length. I could only get tractor to start but not run. My kit instructions were terrible! My kit was from tractor supply. After searching RUclips videos, I found that I didn't replace rubber seal on throttle shaft. When I tried to replace the seal, I popped out the brass piece that holds it in and lost it, but found it a few days later. I'll work on that as soon as rain stops today. Not sure if this seal prevented tractor from running. I originally rebuilt carb because something stuck open in carb and an entire tank of fuel drained out through carb from one evening after use to next afternoon after work. My carb was so gunked up, it looked like a kid made a mud ball. The inside looked like someone was using it to pan for gold. I had to soak it for two weeks in my parts washer. But, even after cleaning and new needle and seat, needle doesn't freely drop with float while bench testing for float drop measurement. Hopefully it will with fuel pushing on it. My kit doesn't have spring or clip on needle. A mechanic friend suggested making a clip from a paper clip. Also, throttle would never stay, always had to be held in place. So I removed long rod. Spring was broken into a few pieces. I replaced round gasket and cut down a generic spring. Now I need to get everything back together and adjust tension. This video should be of great assistance.
Very many thanks Lance. This is a great video. I have a 1954 Massey Ferguson TO 35 that I got as a gift from a good friend of my mine, who left this world a year ago, and I have a great time getting it to run right. I think my girl-friend Fergie is more fun to work with than my wife. For one thing, Fergie does not nag. And by the way, those who think I have an accent, I have a lance to prove I don't. If you would spare me your comments, I do not have to go looking for my spear, which in all likelihood my wife has thrown in the trash.
Very well done and a VERY helpful video. And now a question. Where can I buy linkage parts? My 1/4" adjustment rod is broken just above the lower "fixed" adjustment nut. Yes I can use a piece of all thread but it won't be as strong and I want an original look. Thanks and keep cranking out those videos! You/they are a LOT of help!
Thank you, I've been waiting for something like this. I have a Fordson Dexta with the Standard 87mm, and no petrol manuals exist for it, apparently. I'm located in Ontario Canada and will have to wait until the temperature gets a bit closer to freezing before I adjust it. :)
It warmed up a week or so ago, and I got the throttle linkage and governor adjustment straightened out. Now when I'm piling snow and can't go any farther the wheels start to spin and the engine doesn't bog. Thanks.
I have a TE20. My Zenith Carby was in bad shape. I ended up putting an aftermarket carby on it modeled on the Shebler carby. It has never run the same since. I have done a heap of troubleshooting but can’t seem to get things right. I watched this video and realised I never reset the govener so I will try the adjustment and see how I go. Should I rebuild my zenith or continue to use the aftermarket carby? Thanks for the great video. 👍👍👍👍👍
Hi lance, ive got a fergie 20 tvo im only young and would love to start this as a good hobby but im having a problem with my throttle leaver it is stuck on high acceleration and wont go down i took the throttle linkage off the carb to see if the throttle linkage was too short from the governor but it just is moving a tiny tiny bit, i still dont know if the throttle linkage is too short but i highly doubt it because it does move the same way with it connected to the carb but only if you push it, not with the leaver atall. Sorry if you found this hard to read i have adhd and find it hard to describe stuff 😅. Thank you, Kevin
Thanks mate My TEA has been giving me the shits. After rebuilding the carby all it does is hunt. I’ll give your treatment a go and see if we can get it sorted Cheers Rusty
My Ferguson FE 35 idles very high and sounds like the radiator fan wants to take off when stationary or on a downhill. My throttle leaver does not do much. I think this video will solve my problem! Thank you.
Another spot on explanation on a subject which up until now always worried me to get involved with , I am off to check my TED20 this morning as it has suddenly started to cut out when I go from medium throttle to idle , I hope this maybe the reason why unless you know of any other reason .brilliant video once again , thank you very much
Lance, watched this video so many times I can mouth the words you are saying...LOL. Great video! The Spring, Plunger to Lever does not seem to be available anywhere that I can find. Would you possibly have a source? Compensator springs all over the place to buy. Having to resort to buying used governor parts to get this square ended spring. Of course, the old ones are tired. Any thoughts? Thanks for all you do and pray the family are all doing great!
Happy new year Lance . This video has been posted just in time for me . The govenor was hung up inside the timing cover pulled all the front end off fitted a new govenor , put it back tougher but had now idea how to set it up . Alls good now as my ( phanny ) is running spot on cheers mate love your videos
Hi Lance, love your videos, the setting of the governor in your case seems pretty Straight forward, however my fe35 has not been rebuilt so I was wondering if you have any tips on goner adjustment for an older tractor as my governor weights keep getting stuck at full fling when I adjust to your/factory settings. I feel I’m close to resolving the issue but it keeps happening . Thanks in advance Regards Kerry
Thank you I just bought a Te20 that needs a lot of TLC and your videos give me a lot of information can you tell us what the difference between the Te tea to and the others Thank you
Thanks Richard, The TO20 was for overseas markets like the USA, TEA20 was petrol only, TED petrol/kerosine, TEF20 Diesel with a 20C Standard motor company engine. Send me an email to bundybearsshed@gmail.com and I can send you some info.
Hi Lance any chance you maybe changing or checking the friction plates on any Fergies in the near future , after checking it looks like my be at the end of their life , I’m no mechanic but what you have shown so far has given me the confidence to tackle most things
Hello Lance from Southern Arizona, Excellent video, I have a 49 TO20 that has a significant surging issue. I've tried carb adjustments, with little help. When it surges I can pull then release the choke knob and it clears for a moment. Do you think my issue could be the governor? I plan to adjust it per this video. Thank you for all your great videos.
I have a TE-20 that I recently bought and they had a big spring going from the carburetor to the governor rod. Anyway I started following along to this video to set the governor and at about the 4 minute mark of this video with the linkages un hooked I found the the governor rod doesn’t move ? What’s your thoughts
@@BundyBearsShed Thanks for the advice. I’m planning for the worst and buying a new replacement governor it’s an umbrella type. I’m told it will replace the old weigh style that mine has. This tractor has very little wear so it may very well be stuck.
I had the screw fully removed and it still didn’t move well. Online the sell a umbrella type governor replacement for what I presume is a weighted system that I have in mine. Are the old weighted type better or is the new umbrella type better?
I have a fergie to 30 and the thorttle is very loose, i have adjusted it how you explained and it will just starts thorttling up by its self when i start it up, any idea on what it could be? Is there a tension adjuster somewhere im missing?
@BundyBearsShed ok I will look for that in the morning, is the lever on the governor coming out of the engine block suppose to have allot of up and down and side to side play ? I temporarily fixed my issue by adjusting the lever on the carb farther out then it should be pushing the governor rod farther out, the governor seems too work now it didn't before.
they had a hours shoe lather custom filed whit horse hair . I'm surprised you haven got one on after all that hard work you have done They were mad of Lethe so if they got wet they could be trend over so you did not get a wet bottom. when ploughing.
I watched this video a half dozen times. I still can't get my tractor to idle. If it idles , it won't rev and the governor does not call for more throttle when under load. I have to settle for one or the other. I go for no slow idle. Thanks for the video. It is very good. I just wish it worked for me.
Thanks. I just tried. I think the problem may be the idle adjustment on the carbitself. I removed the screw entirely and no change. By the way, who's the genius that put the idle adjustment behind the carb. where no one can get to it to make adjustments with the engine running?
Terrific video - thank you! I'm going to give this a try on my 52 TEA20 to rule the governor out as the cause of the surging I experience on and off. Tractor idles fine and drives ok but when under load as when towing something heavy it will surge repeatedly unIess I hold the throttle full open.
Sorry to be offtopic but does anybody know a way to log back into an instagram account? I somehow lost the password. I would love any help you can give me
@Eric Rogelio i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Hi and thanks for a fantastic video. On my TEA 20 from 55 the govenor kicks like a mule when i open the throttle a bit. It kicks two or three times in a row, every time. What could be the problem?
Brilliant instruction.....thanks from uk.... just advice please....does the actuator rod from the dashboard to the governor linkage go through the hole in the thermostat housing as my ted20 had parts missing and the original rod seems too thick to go through the hole in a new housing I bought and the hole seems angled down don’t seem to line up with the level rod....mine had the housing missing completely so don’t know how it goes....help please. Robert
G Day Robert, Yes the rod should go through and the hole should be directly straight in line to allow the rod to pass through. Possibly your housing has been machined wrong.
Gday Lance watch your video with great interest i had to put a new timing cover on my TED20 cause the spring was broken in there all replaced chain lined up to cam like you showed run really great however the governor does not work i done all the setting you showed on this video you got ant ideas what going on many thanks Ron ps keep up the great work
G DayRon, It is hard to say but I would start with running the tractor and see if the governor arm moves at all. You may have to adjust the side screw out a little.
Gday Lance i have done that i started out with the screw in 2 turns so i came to 1 turn no different so i turned it in 3 turns still no difference many thanks Ron
Hi Lance, been following all your Fergie vids. Been trying to adjust my governor linkage, but when it comes to attaching the governor arm to the carbie it's pulling the throttle forward, it's as though the spring for the bumper screw is pulling it back forward. Can you help? Also the carbie is running a bit erratic and can't seem to get the tuning just right. Got a good spark at the Distributer
Hi lance , hopping you can help me , I have put new weights and gov or cup on my tea20 as part of the rebuild , but the govnore keeps jamming , when it take the front cover off the cup has come out too far and got caught on the weights and Carnot go back in . if put back together twice now and it keeps happening ?ant clues as to why , maybe a faulty new weight basket ? regards Mark New Zealand
Lance Great Video, very helpful. I have TEA 20 1948 model. In video you show lots of movement in the governor arm at time 4:29. I have very little movement maybe 6mm at the pin location. Does this mean i have a issue within? Do i need to remove the timing cover and inspect? What will i be looking for? Thanks in advance.
I rebuilt my MF135 engine about 2 years ago because the governor fell apart inside. put all new back in and I still for the life of me cant get the governor set at all. Its like it doesnt work at all while pulling my brush mower. Any ideas? Also, the screw on the timing cover screws in way more than what youre showing before I feel and tension.
Took the missus to the big box store to look at fridges. The one she likes won't fit thru the door. I think she is trying to get a new fridge AND front door! Smart girl!
Hi Lance,I watched another video of yours, where it shows the injection pump been totally upgraded, great video, would my diaphragm need replacing as this might be the cause of the very high revs, O I wrote earlier in a reply to you that, I bought the TED 20 diesel, year 1950. Not a single wire in it and needs a wiring loom, but got it going and revs very high.
Jimmy the serial number should be on a tag on the dash just in front of your steering column. It will start with TEA, TED, TEF etc. The TEA was petrol only, the TED was petrol TVO and the TEF was the diesel ones. There were many more models but we don't see them often.
@@BundyBearsShedThanks so much for all the effort you have put into answering all my questions. I'll keep watching all your videos there very good. Cheers. Jimmy.
Great video and useful info. Thanks. I am in Australia, trying to source the rod and ball set which has the balljoint on it. Any one know where I can source from in Australia ? Local supplier says no longer available?
Bundy For a TE20 I require the governor linkage and spring from hand throttle rod to governor linkage. Do you know if these are still available and from where I have run out of places to look if you can help that would be appreciated. Regards Wayne
Thanks for this video. We were missing some of the parts for the governor, including the compensation spring at the top and the small arm. We located replacements. It’s not obvious from videos, manuals, or diagrams what the compensating spring is attached to on the fuel tank mount/radiator end. There’s a small hole at the top of that bracket, but the spring is so stretched when there, there’s no way to adjust thst it just touches. I don’t have the bracket on the separate tractor you show. Any links to diagrams or photos to show what the compensating spring mounts to on a ~51 TO20? Thanks!
On the Standard motor company engines it is onto the thermostat housing, I have not owned a continental engine as they were not bought over to Australia so hard to say.
Bundy Bears Shed thank you. I hope someone else watching will know one the Detroit Z120 Continental. I messaged a couple of photos and will grab a few more when I go to replace the fuel tank in a few days. I hope that if I use an eye bolt and adjust length to compensator spring, we can get it to smooth out. It may be the internal mechanisms, but parts were missing/poorly adjusted. Going to start from scratch again to see if we can get it smooth.

I will open the whole thing again and check the weights of the assemby first to compare with another weight assembly I still have somewhere.
The rod in the spring is adjustable and it should physically push the carb back to idle. Try adjusting both the upright rod and the one to the carb.
@@BundyBearsShed I did exatly what you teached in the video and used the service handbook as well and the procedure is the same. It does not work and I reach only 1500rpm what could be the proof that you are right and I have to face the fact that I am to stupid to adjust my governor. And I have no idea why...
Hi Lance
Looks like my Xmas wish came true and couldn't have come soon enough as I was getting really lost in the manual explanation. I have watched all of your vids on Tea20 which a true God send, keep up the good work.
Thanks Terry, I'm glad you get something useful from them.
Yep, the TO20 needs carb rebuild. My dad didnt want me to touch it, But Im going to Touch It,leaking fuel!. Great video and Life Saver. Thanks
You can do it!
You've done a good job restoring your 35 there Lance.
G Day Calum, Thanks but it is showing its age now being an older restoration, I am thinking of a tidy up soon, see what happens there.
Bundy Bears Shed .. Well Lance it still looks good you've done a first class job on her 👍
Thans a lot Lance, after Mohammed Ali you are the greatest. You guided me a lot with some problems on my TEA 20. Thanks
Thanks Nick, Not sure about that but glad it helped you out.
Very helpful, .. I love all your videos ... Thank You.
Glad you like them!
Very helpful video. My FE35 petrol/tvo runs fast on idle, so I'll be having a go at adjusting the governor following your instructions. Thank you.
Good luck! I hope this helps.
Thank you for that movie. My Tea20 runs great again! Greeting from Sweden.
Thanks Linus, Glad it helped.
Thank you very much Bundy Bears 🐻 ❤❤
My Fergie 35,
After following this amazing man and his video, I have saved myself a whole lot of $$$$'s !
That is good news.
Thanks Ken, Im glad it helped.
Good explanation Lance, going to check over my TED tomorrow, Thanks.
Thanks Michael, It took me a while to work out how to explain it, hope it works well for you.
G day Daniel I hope it does help you it seems you have had quite a lot of trouble so far.
Awsome. Very great explanation and advice. I will be trying this tomorrow.
Did it work?
Very many thanks Lance. This is a great video. I have a 1954 Massey Ferguson TO 35 that I got as a gift from a good friend of my mine, who left this world a year ago, and I have a great time getting it to run right. I think my girl-friend Fergie is more fun to work with than my wife. For one thing, Fergie does not nag.
And by the way, those who think I have an accent, I have a lance to prove I don't. If you would spare me your comments, I do not have to go looking for my spear, which in all likelihood my wife has thrown in the trash.
Tractors are easier to work with Im sure. lol.
Thanks for another great video, just wondered if you've covered the governor on the Continental Engines? Cheers
Not yet! We dont have them over here sadly.
Thanks for this Lance , my tea20 loves you
G Day john, Thats great, lol.
Thank you lance , helped me out - from Leon Guernsey, Channel Islands 🇬🇬
Glad you found it useful
Very well done and a VERY helpful video. And now a question. Where can I buy linkage parts? My 1/4" adjustment rod is broken just above the lower "fixed" adjustment nut. Yes I can use a piece of all thread but it won't be as strong and I want an original look. Thanks and keep cranking out those videos! You/they are a LOT of help!
I have the ball and rod on the queensland tractor spares web site.
Thank you, I've been waiting for something like this. I have a Fordson Dexta with the Standard 87mm, and no petrol manuals exist for it, apparently. I'm located in Ontario Canada and will have to wait until the temperature gets a bit closer to freezing before I adjust it. :)
I had a look at the petrol Dexta recently and I believe it is the same engine so hopefully it will work for you.
It warmed up a week or so ago, and I got the throttle linkage and governor adjustment straightened out. Now when I'm piling snow and can't go any farther the wheels start to spin and the engine doesn't bog. Thanks.
Thanx! Got me to understand how it works.
Great!
I always prefer the Zenith they are not too hard to do.
Follow the video step by step. Start at the front and work your way back. It is hard to say what is going on without seeing it.
@@BundyBearsShed thanks lance will try that today
Jees lance, that motor sounded just like a radial aircraft engine starting up not a bleedin tractor, sounds nice. cheers, Derek
Yeah shes a nice old tractor, runs well/.
Thanks lance,great video,.Somthing I dread touching.
It is easy when shown how, my gold tractor I did the video on is working much better now, I hadn't realised it was in need of adjustment.
Thanks mate My TEA has been giving me the shits. After rebuilding the carby all it does is hunt. I’ll give your treatment a go and see if we can get it sorted
Cheers Rusty
It seems to work well.
My Ferguson FE 35 idles very high and sounds like the radiator fan wants to take off when stationary or on a downhill. My throttle leaver does not do much. I think this video will solve my problem! Thank you.
Hopefully it sorts it for you.
Another spot on explanation on a subject which up until now always worried me to get involved with , I am off to check my TED20 this morning as it has suddenly started to cut out when I go from medium throttle to idle , I hope this maybe the reason why unless you know of any other reason .brilliant video once again , thank you very much
G day Paul, Your tractor shouldn't cut out due to governor adjustment as it should just push it back to idle, I would check carb adjustments.
Will do cheers Lance
Lance, watched this video so many times I can mouth the words you are saying...LOL. Great video! The Spring, Plunger to Lever does not seem to be available anywhere that I can find. Would you possibly have a source? Compensator springs all over the place to buy. Having to resort to buying used governor parts to get this square ended spring. Of course, the old ones are tired. Any thoughts? Thanks for all you do and pray the family are all doing great!
G Day Marvin, I dont have a supplier and there is not one Im aware of but it would be handy at times as I get asked from time to time.
Great 🥰 help Lance I've managed to get my fergi running beautiful 👍
Fantastic!
Happy new year Lance . This video has been posted just in time for me . The govenor was hung up inside the timing cover pulled all the front end off fitted a new govenor , put it back tougher but had now idea how to set it up . Alls good now as my ( phanny ) is running spot on cheers mate love your videos
G day Robert, Glad it helped, not too scairy really once shown how.
Thank you been fighting my Dexta petro going to try adjusting Governor tomorrow 👍
I hope it works out, same engine really.
I feel I’m close to resolving the issue but it keeps happening
.
Thanks in advance
Regards
Kerry
set the screw in the timing cover in a few mort turns, that will stop it coming out so far , to a point.
G Day Paul, Possibly, I will see what I can come up with.
It could well be the governor, it is a good place to start. Lengthen the rod from the carb to the governor and see what happens.
@@BundyBearsShed Thank you very much, I adjusted per your video and it did help a lot.
Sorted my Standard powered Ford Dexta out too - Cheers.
I just got a parts book for one of them the other day thanks to the Fordson club.
I have a TE-20 that I recently bought and they had a big spring going from the carburetor to the governor rod. Anyway I started following along to this video to set the governor and at about the 4 minute mark of this video with the linkages un hooked I found the the governor rod doesn’t move ? What’s your thoughts
See if the side screw on the timing cover is not in way too far but it could be possible that the shaft is stuck.
@@BundyBearsShed
Thanks for the advice.
@@jasonkilgore1977 they usually have weights that hook onto the umbrella I'm only aware of one kind over here.
@@jasonkilgore1977 I just realised you are ona Continental engine and we didnt have them here but I wouldnt mind a play with one.
I have a fergie to 30 and the thorttle is very loose, i have adjusted it how you explained and it will just starts thorttling up by its self when i start it up, any idea on what it could be? Is there a tension adjuster somewhere im missing?
There should be a cork washer and a spring that holds it in place.
I'm surprised you haven got one on after all that hard work you have done They were mad of Lethe so if they got wet they could be trend over so you did not get a wet bottom. when ploughing.
.
At the end of the video you mentioned the throttle kicking. Did you cover this in another video? Ours does the same. Very good videos by the way.
Fiddle with the length of the rod going back to the carb.
Thank you Lance. That was a big help.
Thanks Roy, Glad it helped.
This video helped me so much. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
I watched this video a half dozen times. I still can't get my tractor to idle. If it idles , it won't rev and the governor does not call for more throttle when under load. I have to settle for one or the other. I go for no slow idle. Thanks for the video. It is very good. I just wish it worked for me.
Not sure why Lynn, just check for slop everywhere and remove it if possible.
Give it a go, hopefully it helps.
Sorry to be offtopic but does anybody know a way to log back into an instagram account?
I somehow lost the password. I would love any help you can give me
@Walker Melvin Instablaster =)
@Eric Rogelio i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Eric Rogelio it worked and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much you saved my ass !
very helpful I am going to try that to get it to run smooth
Have fun
Hi and thanks for a fantastic video.
On my TEA 20 from 55 the govenor kicks like a mule when i open the throttle a bit. It kicks two or three times in a row, every time. What could be the problem?
I would look at the carb settings as it should even out reasonably quickly.
My newly bought housing was the same, had to ream the hole out to suit the rod.
My job for next weekend..... Thank you for the info.... brilliant.
Good luck!
@@BundyBearsShed ok thanks will try that many thanks Ron
Gday Lance i have done that i started out with the screw in 2 turns so i came to 1 turn no different so i turned it in 3 turns still no difference many thanks Ron
Hello, Is there a video for the Z120 governor adjustment. I have a believe a 1949 TO20, I'm still trying to figure all that. Missing tags
No it is not an engine we had here in Australia.
thank you very much, your video helped me a lot.
Thanks Daniel.
First up try lengthening the rod a fair bit it seems to work wonders.
Thanks for the help Lance, really appreciate it!
Try tightening the screw in the side of the timing cover to put tension on the spring so the cup cant travel so far forward then do the setup.
G Day Todd, Normally not much movement will help with these governors, It depends on how far the screw is in.
This stuff is awesome, i do hope after my rebuild she purrs cause its been awhile
Good to hear.
mate you're a star! Just what i needed.
Thanks, I hope it helps.
I rebuilt my MF135 engine about 2 years ago because the governor fell apart inside. put all new back in and I still for the life of me cant get the governor set at all. Its like it doesnt work at all while pulling my brush mower. Any ideas? Also, the screw on the timing cover screws in way more than what youre showing before I feel and tension.
i would suggest backing the screw out to give the governor room to move possibly.
Happy New Year, Lance!
Happy New Year Bob, I hope its a good one for you.
Took the missus to the big box store to look at fridges. The one she likes won't fit thru the door. I think she is trying to get a new fridge AND front door! Smart girl!
Ha Ha she might just be working you over for it by the sound of it lol.
Yes you actually have a TEF if it is diesel and the crook diaphragm will do it for sure.
@@BundyBearsShed Cheers but on the tax book it says TED 20 may need more investigation thanks Lance.
Cheers.

I find I need to check information now a days as it has been many years since I did my time as well.
Great video and useful info. Thanks. I am in Australia, trying to source the rod and ball set which has the balljoint on it. Any one know where I can source from in Australia ? Local supplier says no longer available?

For a TE20 I require the governor linkage and spring from hand throttle rod to governor linkage.
Do you know if these are still available and from where I have run out of places to look if you can help that would be appreciated.

Wayne
G Day Wayne, In Australia Gordon Ellis would be the bloke to try at Inverell NSW
