by no way this is a boring/uninteresting show. i expected this from a show adaptation of hyouka's author. i loved how this show fleshed out exactly like hyouka did and ended similarly (the viewer in limbo about their relationship albeit this being in a more negative connotation). i didnt expect any romance to happen between them but i am still sad how S1 ended lol and they going their separate ways. i hope they team up again in S2

Ngl, I actually didn't expect that Osanai talked about how they looked like a couple (something everyone and their mother thought)

The original novel is a well-known work that has already sold one million copies in Japan and has a decent-sized readership. This anime is an adaptation of the first work of the Shoushimin (literally translated as "petit bourgeois") series, “The Spring Special Strawberry Tart Case” and the second work, “The Summer Special Tropical Parfait Case". One of the notable features of this anime adaptation is that it has been reorganized to weaken and somewhat conceal the explicit demonstration of Osanai's unusual character and trait described in the first novel, which corresponds to the first half episodes (Ep1-4). The purpose of this change is supposedly to effectively shock the viewers with her unfathomable and seemingly psychopathic behavior revealed at the end of the second case (episode 9 and the final episode of this anime). I was appalled and a bit horrified at that point. I thought it is a right and successful decision to create this anime adaptation.

I already had the feeling that Osanai is likely to have a few loose screws in her head as early as episode 3, but when the author actually WENT THERE with the fake framing of a crime, that was absolute cinema in my opinion ❤

Episode 5 is one of the best episodes of this show for me. I loved Hyouka but this show won me by a mile than Hyouka ever did.
The summer tour arc leading to the kidnapping is probably one of the cleanest and most impressive mystery execution I've witnessed in anime. Damn Osanai skyrocketed to one of my favorite anime characters of all time

I like to think of Hyouka as everything Shoushimin wouldn't be and Shoushimin as everything Hyouka wouldn't be (at least that's how I see it from the two animes), hence why I called Shoushimin in my thumbnail as Hyouka's 'Negative, but Daring' Sibling, the show does what the author wouldn't do in Hyouka
