    What I really liked about this series, was the accurate presentation of computer systems, and where the tech is right now in 2024. One can currently sign-on to an LLM, and carry on a very intelligent conversation with a computer system much like Takuma has with Mina. The author even got it right that the "person" of the AI is not in the hand-held device, but rather is networked to a vastly large server farm. The running joke throughout is outstanding. Sometimes Mina looks up at the ceiling and those around her ask if she sees a bug. In computer software a "bug" is some coding error, a mistake. On the trip to visit Takuma's parents, Mina chooses an outfit that covers most of her metallic parts and still is quite lovely. If my rice cooker could present to me a meal every night as good as that which Mina gives to Takuma, well the rice cooker would be number one in my heart.

      The author's respect towards the nuances surrounding AI really deserves a shout, others would just disregard them for a quick buck

    Can someone explain why japanese mangakas like the silent/mute/disable girl with no emotions so much? It may be that the first one I saw was the girl with the eye patch in the anime "Another" but i find scary like dolls that suck your life force.

      If you mean 'reserved' women (the ones who are less expressive than other women on average), it might have to do with Japan's history where one of the hallmarks of a woman is their 'reserve-ness' (being demure, not much of a troublemaker, gentle, those kinds of traits)
      Liking reserved women isn't a issue by any means (I am Catholic btw and I grew up with a Catholic background, so I can see the appeal behind such a trait).
      What is an issue is if certain individuals force women to be reserved against their will, to the point of objectifying them.
      I don't know which mangakas you referring to (I never watched 'Another' so I have no say on that), but yeah, you shouldn't feel bad if certain presentations of women feel creepy to you (For one, I dislike Gyarus full stop, hence I didn't watch shows such as Dress Up Darling).
      EDIT: I actually find silent, doll-like girls to be creepy as well if you're asking

      @@justforfunvideohobby But they had to like it to make it into an archetype. I don't see the appeal to my eyes is kind of scary. I would like to understand what they see that i don't?

    What does pragmatism even mean ?

    • @AngeHikari
      @AngeHikari  3 месяца назад +4

      Pragmatism is the concept that an idea is considered to be 'true' if the believer is better off in life (in the anime's case, since Takuma's life has improved for the better ever since he had Mina and Mamoru, then the idea of 'human-robot relationships' can be considered to have its merits and is 'true')
