Can you leave all photos and videos on the JD Drive or do you have to transfer them somewhere? Also can you go to the JD Drive app on your iPhone and pull up any photos or videos? Sorry, just got this little gadget and this is my first time of attempting transferring anything.

Great information. You are so right on using the lighting cord, your will get errors. Sometimes your photos are still in storage, never deleted. The Flashdrive storage device is truly a better option than paying $38.00 plus a year or 250g of storage. Downside obviously is that you will not have the photos available on your phone, I have not problems carrying the Flashdrive with me. Thank you very much for sharing.

I downloaded the app and it appears it’s making copies of all my pictures and not actually transferring any of my photos. I have an iPad mini 4. I have 6k pictures I want to get off my my iPad. Hey Johnny, love your video! bought the memory stick you suggested and loaded all on my iphone 14 pro, question, it loaded all the pics fine, but when I put them on the PC, they loaded as icloud photos and everytime I want to look at a photo I have to wait forever for all of them to materialize from the icloud "blue" logo to a picture that can be looked at! This is a nice device, unfortunately iphone 13 & 14 can only transfer at USB 2 speed through its lightning port which is a max of 60 MBps. There is talk that the iphone 15 will use a USB C type connector instead of the lighting type connector. This will speed up things greatly to USB 3.0 speeds or greater. Question: can I record 1080P at 30 frames per second video directly to this devices internal memory in live time without dropouts or errors in final data. Is this device fast enough to record on the fly as just mentioned. Thank you. I’m a current iphone 13 max user.

Yea you can edit RUclips videos. but eventually if it’s an edited video from iPhone video it can be corrupted not be able to play. And this USB could kick you out most of the time.

Great vid BUT... You didn't mention if there is any info on what IOS version you need. I have an iPad with IOS12.55, Most firewire-USB adaptors require IOS13. Also you talk about copying from FROM phone/pad to the I-Flash, you don't seem to cover copying the other way, ie from I-Flash to ipad. (I may have missed it if you did go through that - sorry if I did miss it) Thanks.

Just got my 1TB drive. I like it & wont have to buy more iCloud storage, but all of the files I xferred don’t have thumbnails. Any tips on how to fix that? Using the software all my files just have an orange square for thumbnails.
Hey Johnny, I purchased one of these flash drives and used your video for my first transfer. I moved photos from Iphone to SD card and then to a portable hard drive. When I was done and opened the folder in my portable hard drive many of the photos had been changed to .heic format even though they had all been taken on the same Iphone (on the same vacation). Can you tell me why or maybe just how to prevent this. The others that did successfully transfer came over as .jpg and that's how I would like all of them. Thanks!!!
In the Settings/Photos section of the iphone you can choose: 'Download and Keep Originals'. I suspect that you have the setting set at 'Optimize iPhone Storage'. See if that works.

Hypothetically-
if I store my pictures and videos on this flash drive device then delete those pictures and videos off my iPhone to free up storage, at a later date, say I wanna show someone pictures, can I plug the device back into my iPhone and view pictures/vids?
And if that is possible, are the pictures and videos that I transferred from the device back to my phone, are they not on the device anymore and do I need to transfer them back onto the flash drive device?

Thanks Johnny. This was helpful. I had purchased a memory stick but have been afraid to delete anything off my phone after the transfer. I thought I’d done it wrong. Is it necessary to transfer it to a computer or can i just keep it on the stick? I want to just keep it my firebox for safe keeping.

Great vid BUT... You didn't mention if there is any info on what IOS version you need. I have an iPad with IOS12.55, Most firewire-USB adaptors require IOS13.
Also you talk about copying from FROM phone/pad to the I-Flash, you don't seem to cover copying the other way, ie from I-Flash to ipad. (I may have missed it if you did go through that - sorry if I did miss it) Thanks.

Just got my 1TB drive. I like it & wont have to buy more iCloud storage, but all of the files I xferred don’t have thumbnails. Any tips on how to fix that? Using the software all my files just have an orange square for thumbnails.
Hey Johnny, I purchased one of these flash drives and used your video for my first transfer. I moved photos from Iphone to SD card and then to a portable hard drive. When I was done and opened the folder in my portable hard drive many of the photos had been changed to .heic format even though they had all been taken on the same Iphone (on the same vacation). Can you tell me why or maybe just how to prevent this. The others that did successfully transfer came over as .jpg and that's how I would like all of them. Thanks!!!
PS. The photos came over from the I-flash to the SD card in .heic format. Thanks
In the Settings/Photos section of the iphone you can choose: 'Download and Keep Originals'. I suspect that you have the setting set at 'Optimize iPhone Storage'. See if that works.
