I really like Edward Furlong. I think your right he should have been the only one to play Conner. He is a good actor, He’s gotten some bad roles but he’s also been in a lot of good movies too. I really liked him in Detroit Rock City, Animal Factory, American History X, Pet Semetary 2. I’d really like a chance to get to meet him

I don't think Edward Furlong will have a substantial role in 'THIS' film, but for however length of time he is on screen, i do however think it will have a substantial impact!! I know theres a lot of talk going on about his potential death in this film (which is an idea i just hate!) But i hope eddie coming back, changes that story and sets him up for future installments 👍🏼

The movie already leaked via test audience cams it's not good Eddie's face is just cgi'd on another kids body for Arnold to kill him. Than later in the movie Arnold has "learned" to be human overt the decades and decides to help Linda against the new AI danger of Legion. Since Skynet was destroyed in T2. Even tho the major plot hole is if Skynet was destroyed where tf did this T800 come back from to kill John.
I agree with you 100% When I saw T2 Judgemen Day its opening week at the theater, I felt then that Edward Furlong did a great job portraying John Connor. That feeling hasn't changed after all these years.
I am so happy he is returning. He is the best John Connor and he is a great actor. I also hope they don't waste him....or his role and hope they don't only use him for short role UNLESS they are prepping the story to bring him back in the next one for a bigger focus.
John Conner and Skynet both get killed off literally in the beginning of the new movie when they say it's about all new characters they mean it. Even the AI is totally different being Chinese or someshit and called Legion
The rumor is that he isn't even directly in the movie, instead his image is projected on a younger stand in. Apparently he gets killed at the start.

"Animal Factory" is a super underrated Edward Furlong movie, highly recommend it...
EF was in his real life as rebel as the character he portraits in the movie. 4 my taste. his work was fantastic.

I was so stoked when I read the news last night! Linda Hamilton and Edward Furlong coming back together will be amazing, not to mention being Rated R!!! And yeah Eddie is slightly nervous around fans, he’s usually kind of quiet and anxious at conventions
Edward had such a large part to play in T2 that if he didn’t convince the audience in 1991 and beyond that he was John Conner, the movie would’ve sucked. But Edward kicked massive ass in T2 and cemented his rightful place in American film history as a teenager/person who could work with the best and deliver a convincing, outstanding performance for the world to see. If Tim Miller has killed off Edward’s John Conner character in the first 10 minutes then the film is most likely going to stink. Edward’s character was that powerful and has had 28 years to grow even stronger, that it really doesn’t matter what happens in Dark Fate with action and new characters and Arnold, Linda. Edward was the glue in T2 and our emotions as a world wide audience are tided to Edward. And that’s what the makers, creators, financiers, story writers have forgotten.

Cant wait to see Furlong back as John Connor, been wanting this for YEARS, hope they dont give us Arnold,Linda & Edward back together again just to take them away as quickly.....if you want to do that in a possible sequel...fair enough, but let us have some time with those 3 again. .......Also, Lee did you see the Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles? Thomas Dekker did a fairly decent job in the role, and easily my fave John Connor after Furlong.

Very skeptical about this movie Lee, yeah it's R rated & Camerons involved but I think it's too little to late & do we really need another sequel because T2 was the perfect ending to the Cameron movies (I completely discard T3, Salvation & Genysis as canon).
Cameron is off doing his Avatar movies. I don't think his involvement is anymore than it was for Genysis.
Completely agree. Edward was the ONLY John Connor. Unfortunately, the past several Terminator films have been horrible. I have always felt T2 was and is one of the best films of all time.

Dude that John Connor impression was spot on. I can’t stop laughing 😆But yes I’m excited but skeptical of the whole thing. For one I don’t believe anything James Cameron says anymore. I love the guy, but he always says these extravagant things to promote the new Terminator films. Then again he is more involved with this one so who knows. As far as Edward Furlong coming back I am excited unfortunately from what is on the internet John Conner does not play a major role. I hope I’m wrong because this is something I’ve always wanted to happen as a terminator fan to bring all these guys back. I have faith Tim Miller will do a great job for sure just still on the fence about the Terminator franchise.

I met Edward back in March as well. I was going to ask him if he was going to be in Dark Faye but decided not to. I knew he wouldn’t give me answer besides um well you’ll have to wait and see, lol. However I did ask a good question where he did open up to me, it wasn’t an awkward meeting at all. Could tell he’s a very genuine and honest guy.
I think that Christian Bale is the best adult John Connor I just think the script ruined him and I needed a stronger director but I do think the Edward Furlong is the best John Connor

I totally agree with you! Edward Furlong is a brilliant actor and the best John Connor. People bash him online for his former legal troubles (which is highly hypocritical since nobody complsains about Robert Downey Jr having a career). Furlong should be in DARK FATE and deserves to be given a prominent role to play. Whether or not that will actually happen though remains to be seen.

I was John's age when I saw t-2 and t-1, and I really felt a connection. I was a wild, mischievous boy too, and it was awesome to have kid to relate to. I also loved the emotional music, the compelling thought-provoking messages to reflect on regarding the things we make waking up and seeing us as the thing to eliminate. It is a very emotional film(s) and they are even more thoughtful and emotional and suspenseful due to the cold/bleak story that surrounds the warmth and determination of the characters. I was really drawn to the father/son - boy and his terminator relationship, the mother/son story where she had to survive to give birth and then protect/train her son for the future only she knew might someday happen if they don't stop it, and the Sarah/terminator friendship where it went form her being frightened and pursued relentlessly to learning to trust and shake his hand at the end.
These movies with their practical effects, real stunt work, emotional stories and gritty ideas to ponder and themes to reflect on long after the movie is over are part of why they have stuck with me. The visuals as well with the cold/blue tint, the sound effects and music which has that synth/cold feeling yet full of heart and emotion, and everything else in these movies. I would love it if they were keeping Edward a surprise for somewhere in the movie, possibly even at the end if not sooner, when the future they try to prevent can't be entirely prevented, and Sarah makes it to the future where she meets up with her son. That's always the idea I had, that she'd be there by his side, commending a troop or group of rebels to help fight or defend from the machines - since she raised and trained him to become the leader of the humans.
I don't mind the new one as long as it's important, gritty and emotional like the first two, and definitely not like a slapstick, over the top, cringey marvel movie - those movies have no heart, nothing to reflect on afterwards, and they don't even care about their audience - because they line up all their movies and show you previews for them before the audience even has a chance to react or praise the movie - they don't care and it's obvious. I think those involved with our terminator stories still do care about us audience members and fans, unlike marvel who has rubbery effects, cheesy dialogue, empty story, no themes or plot/character development, all spectacle, forgettable story and music. I want those handling our terminator movies to tell a gritty, heartfelt story. I just hope it has those important relationships the first two did - because those long with the gritty and poignant themes is why those films are so memorable.
This movie does have a chance to pave the way over all the horrible hollywood/marvel crap out there, and show you can still have a real action movie with practical effects, stunt work, throughout themes and ideas and well-crafted storytelling. I sort of wish the trailer began with the nightclub in T-1, possibly in slow motion, with the tech-noire sounds and lights, hearkening back to the synth/cold/frightening pursuing of a machine in disguise after seemingly random woman who needs to become the mother of the boy of our future. Or possibly with a moment from the climax of T-2 that was so gut wrenching emotional but necessary for that story. Or just echos of the dialogue or music from the first two films set in darkness with a low synth sound, "I order you not to go! I order you not to go! I order you n-," since this film is connected to them. Or an echo of the scene where Sarah is standing at the chain link fence near the playground, reciting the worrisome speech. We don't always need new characters doing fancy things to appreciate character and story and the world building of these tales.
When I was John's age, I explored and rode my bike through the many neighborhoods and homes I've lived in growing up, pretending to be chased by 18-wheelers and dodging enemy fire - while getting into mischief throughout the streets! I would fly down a steep hill, wind blowing my hair back, sun on my skin, and swerve into the driveway and let my bike tumble onto the lawn as I hopped off and I'd dash inside and slam the door, my exhilaration and imagination aflame with ideas of being chased by fast machines. I was very much adventurous and quick and had a troubled life much like John did, and have always looked forward to the day, or at least pondered often, what he'd be doing to prepare for the future. In South America, in the desert, training by nearby jungles and with trusted soldiers/rebels/friends of Sarah, a difficult family and environment to grow up in and a challenging but necessary life for what's to come. I hope we get to see that or at least he's alive and well and we can have our John and his mother be together and take on this dark fate. There is no fate but what we make.
Two reviews back to back. As usual awesome video Lee. The impression was really good lol. Since he is returning , I hope the movie is good since the trailer made it look like a cheesy B movie. Anyways lets hope for the best.

Just saw Edward at Indianapolis Days of the Dead and he was looking rough! Nick Staul was actually right next to him lol I agree though Edward was great in Terminator 2 and I hope he gets a decent part in this new part in the franchise 😊

They used his likeness for this scene, that will divide the fan base even further...they also de-aged Linda Hamilton and Arnold.

I met Eddie at Spooky back in March too. I was soooo beyond excited when they announced him as a guest. I cosplay the t-1000 so that was exciting lol & I agree that Eddie is the only one who should play John Connor. I also really miss the T23D ride 😭 I was hoping they could just update it with the new movie. Really looking forward to seeing how dark fate turns out.

For me I always hated the fact they changed Actor as it takes away your feeling and appreciation for the character John Cornor. Nick Stahl was fine as JC in Terminator 3; Bale was okay but he sounded too much like Batman, and Clarke was 100% trash as John connor

Possibly they havent mentioned Furlong at all, because hes only been included now, after many months of getting his act together. Recent interview had someone ask him if he wanted to portray John again, and he said he'd love to. He's also been in rehab and working out since at least November last year. Maybe its only just now that they've given him the go ahead, and possibly slightly altered the story after leak-backlash. (heres hoping anyway, haha)
If true, this changes how I feel about this movie and I’m back in... but, with cautious optimism . Of course, how they deal with his character and the introduction of the new characters will determine my interest in the franchise moving forward.
This news really ignited my interest actually.
He's looking in good form, working on his physique and trying to stay clean health-wise. I saw him in late June 2019 at the Jackson, MS ComicCon and got to talk to him and talk to his manager when stepped away from the table briefly. I get a selfie and autograph. I'll always be a fan and hope TDF will be respectful to him and not just use CGI or a small cameo.

I wouldn't be surprised if Robert Patrick's name isnt mentioned next month. More Eddie Furlong! He was epic omg - feel bad for this dude - omg u have the 3D footage - it was awesome - I remember that , That line goes I rate this a 2 better yet make that a 1 -- and Boom 💥 T 1000 and another epic chase on a motorcycle - loved that ride - was like 10-11 lol !!
After the first trailer I lost all hype for this movie and thought it was gonna be another “Genysis-esque”.
However after seeing the trailer that dropped at comic con I now have belief that this could be a successful sequel to T2! One of my favourite films of all time!
All I’m asking for is original theme tune, Arnold kicking ass, some one liners and the return of Edward Furlong with a boom-box!

They will kill John Connor off in first act of Dark Fate, change the future, end of skynet, rise of Legion.!!!, with a whole load of new faces to carry on the new story.

I'm happy for Edward...I hope he manages to get his shit back together because of this, but I'm just not excited about this film. There's been five Terminator films, and only one hasn't been about two time-travelers duking it out in whatever year is currently the present-day, or thereabouts. Since the first movie I've wanted to see a film focused on the future war. Only Salvation even tried, and it looked nothing like the glimpses we saw in the first two. That Universal Studios ride looks like a better film idea than they've managed so far...how hard is this? Drop the time travel and just give us a great Fury Road-level action film about the final battle with Skynet. I'd pay to see that.

Can't believe this is happening. When I first saw the trailer for the new Terminator movie I just kept thinking if Edward Furlong came back to play John Connor, it's like they read my mind somehow🤣🤣🤣 Totally agree with you Lee know one can replace Furlong as John.
I'm glad it's rated R too.
