I high quality handbag that has a timeless design and great quality is expensive. My grandma still has her Hermes Kellybag and it's like new. I have one Armani Handbag that I have been using since I was 16.
But I am extremely picky with handbags and my boyfriend knows my style. Because he cares about me and that means he knows me.

My fiancé drew me a picture for our 3 year anniversary and I keep it beside the bed because every time I see it it makes me feel like crying in a good way. Xenoshot, you're right. I've seen somebody get more excited getting socks as a Christmas present. That was me. My friend Tim bought me a pair of Mona Lisa socks for Christmas back in the 90s and I screamed with joy and delight! I LOVED them! It was one of the coolest and most unique gifts I've ever received. I lost one of them years later. I was so sad and upset!😢I kept the other one though and I still have it in my drawer to this day. Anyway, I certainly hope this guy dropped such an ungrateful wench of a girlfriend after this ordeal.

I was tired of societies norms that said you had to celebrate birthdays, holidays so about 5 years ago I made a vow to not celebrate my birthday anymore or holidays I feel like we are conditioned to obey what we are told, our lives are controlled and most people don't even see it, I want to be the one who decides what I can and cannot do, I feel great knowing it's holidays are just another day, no pressure to buy anything, no pressure to receive anything Im done with these rules we given and expected to follow...

Same I made a vow this year to not celebrate my birthday either, but my mom still insisted..
My family and I decided to celebrate by hanging out and having fun doing stuff together instead of feeling pressured to buy gifts for everyone. Christmas was spent with my mom eating home cooked meals and watching movies. We opened a bottle of wine we’ve been wanting to try. No gifts, just quality time together. It was really sweet and a lot more gratifying than giving and receiving random objects!
My mom, grandma, aunt's all said to check the card first, of course after you say thank you. I truly don't understand how people can be so ungrateful. Five bucks says if her friend had a Louis, and she was given a chanel then she'd want the Louis

Ran a hot bath, put out some LED candles on (gotta be H&S conscious lol), put on her favourite Jazz playlist, got her bath bombs, washed her back, cooked her favourite meal, went for a walk down the canal and ended the night at a little pub near us. That's what me and my gf did on her 40th birthday. Total amount, £50-60. Her happiness, impossible to estimate. My happiness seeing her smile, burned onto my heart and soul. I think some men and women are so materialistic, that they're beyond saving.

The whole idea of spending thousands to 1)advertise for the designer 2)impress others baffles me. What is impressive about that? It’s not to anyone I care about in the least. Of course I use reusable shopping bags at every opportunity, I’m not special, why wouldn’t I? Personally luxury items are a red flag in my opinion. Not necessarily that someone is bad, but that we have wildly different ways of looking at the world and ideas of what’s important.

If this is honestly what happened and not a setup, then I would've taken the bag and the money she tossed away, got the money back from the purchase, changed the locks on my place if she had a key, and said goodbye permanently to this person. She wouldn't deserve any consideration whatsoever. I'd just chalk this up as a learning experience and be happy she was only my girlfriend and not my wife.
Some of us grew up in families where we're taught that a gift is something people DON"T have to get you, but get you out of the kindness of their hearts. My husband took me to NYC. We saw a couple of performances and went to the Statue of Liberty (my husband knows what I like) he even suffered through a ballet (dislikes them with a passion) but it was for my birthday. Even if he got me an expensive bag, I'd still appreciate it. That trip cost more than a bag but it was better than that because we can look back on the trip as something we shared. The woman was ungrateful. I'd tell him to let her go. I hope he finds a woman who will love HIM not for what he can give her. By the way, my husband and I have been married for 42years. 🙂
