Excellent review! I bought a pair about a month ago and love them. I have always bought Red Wing boots but this is my first Irish Setters. I always suffered wearing iRed Wing until they were broken in. I can't say that about Ashby's, they were confortable from day one. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants a good work boot.
I have a pair of those same exact boots and by far the most comfortable boot I’ve ever wore, will definitely buy another pair again and again. Great review 🤙🏽
I have a pair of the exact boots. Ive being wearing them for months and they are really comfortable and look great. They are great NY summer boots, not insulated or waterproofed. Great boots.
Great review thank you brother I just bought a pair of myself nine and a half thought I had to get the double e but they are a wide shoe worked out great New York City electrician all different terrains, weather, hard construction!
I love these boots. Several others I work with have this boot, some have even had them long enough to be resoled, and they love them. Still others comment on how nice they look. In a warehouse work-situation, these are tough boots that still have a nice clean and professional appearance with regular maintenance. Like was mentioned in the video, I wouldn’t wear these for heavy construction, but for most light-to-medium-duty work they are perfect. And a +1 on no break-in period, these were comfortable right out of the box. Going from a boot with a heel to a flat wedge like these took some getting used-to, but I’ve enjoyed wearing these boots for about 6-7 months now.
I have pair of Carolina's as my work boots, and I just bought pair of these boots for when I'm out and about. So far so good. They're comfortable right out of the box and they do look really good.
Just bought a pair of these boots today with some redwing insoles for extra comfort. 2 years in the electrical trade in LA and I owned thorogood boots, but they left me a callus on my ankle where the rivets are for the laces. Hopefully it goes away wearing these new boots. I’ve heard great reviews. Awesome video.
I got seven years out of mine! Well worth the money. I dipped the toe when it started coming apart a bit. I took them back to red wing and when I got them back they looked so clean!! My new ones are the water proof real Red Wings and they are even better! 10 months in and they feel great. I just cleaned and reconditioned them with the red wing oil!
I had a pair of these about 5 years ago, was a framer and these held up for about 18months which is amazing for framing, would have last longer if I did the tuff toe since framers kick the shit out of walls to line them up or set walls on your toes. I went to rebuy them but the Ashby became so popular they weren’t stock so I had to buy the next mode up, the wingshooter 6inch. The wingshooters have a bit more insulation and are water proof, they also have been amazing boots. But the Ashbys just have such a classic look to them. Next pair forsure is going to be another Ashby pair if they’re in stock. I’m a superintendent now, moving up to project engineer but I still love me the confidence and safe feeling of having my steel toe redwings
I'm a hard core bird hunter and have Three pairs of the Wingshooter 9" boots. While water resistant, wool socks are a must when they do get soaked. Great boots. I use extra long(88") laces to wrap ankle and shin. The more use you use and a use them, the better they are. Yearly treatment with SnoSeal in hot summer sun is de rigueur. Very comfortable and tough. Following my setter through shin tangle and briars doesn't phase them! Worth the money.
I had some and used them for landscaping. It's not supposed to be waterproof (I don't think) but they sure held up to water pretty good. My feet stayed dry even in wet grass and puddles. Absolutely great boots. I agree, they are the best work boots.
When I bought my Ashbys it was a toss up between the Danner bull run moc toe.I have that color I believe it’s brown.I just wish for $150 they would have not used plastic around the wedge. So insanely comfortable
I have a hard tims finding boots that fit and are comfotable found tnese by accident at a farm store fit perfect comfortable right out of ths box these have become my favorite boots no break in at all very durable also
All the boots I used to like are no longer being made. Maybe that's a sign. Been looking for a new pair that's better on pavement than what I have had in the past. Was looking at 10875 but for the price I have to give these a look. Thank you.
I work 6 days a week and walk 30-40 a miles in these a week and they only get more comfortable as time goes on. I replaced the insoles but other than that they hold up great.
Great budget moc. I've used a few pair in industrial Auto work. They're no redwing heritage or thorogood but their great work boots and they look awesome. Great deals often. Guy my least pair for $80.
My Irish setter wingstoppers are my favorite work boots. I’m currently looking into replacing my danner bullruns with Irish setter ashbys. My only complaint em with the wingstoppers is that you can feel the added weight from the water proofing
I scored these for sub $100 on Amazon a few months ago. Swapped in better laces and they do the job. Once I got past the cheap looking stitched welt and learned to deal with having no speed hooks, I can’t complain otherwise. As long as these stay priced below $200, I’ll buy another pair next time around.
Had a pair and were very comfortable. However, the leather never softened up and felt like rubber. Went back to my old boots. It was passed the warranty so …
I’m not even trying to be rude or what ever just generally wondering what u do for work because those look very good for 6 months at least compared to mine
I've been wearing these boots everyday since 2016 I get bad trench foot and ingrown nails.. these boots are cooler then skate shoes light weight crazy comfortable. I have super high arches so I have to use 2 sets of insoles but makes em just right I LOVE THESE BOOTS like I said every day since 2016 I build cars in em ride my harley in em weld in em and go to the movies in em if your considering these boots just go buy em like I said since 2016 and I'm on my second pair can't beat bang for your buck
Hi handsome, I just ordered a pair of keen san jose 6inch non steel toe tan boots to wear daily shopping errands and filling up the cars gas tank at Costco. Im going to tell you that I'm addicted to Costco and the value that it offers to it's members is the best . Have you considered wearing keen sanjose light duty boots and why not? Thanks.
I ( HD Truck repair mechanic) bought a pair about 6 -8 years ago ….and they only lasted ( kicked a tire and sole fell apart….literally) 1 month and a half
Good for anything but your toes on the ground I had a similar pair years ago and they came unstitched after a couple of months ,the owner gave me credit towards another style after telling me they're really a warehouse boot (I told him when I first went in what I did for a living, painting) they didn't have anything else that would fit me so I ended up getting a pair of casual type shoes which were so uncomfortable I could barely wear them more than a couple of hours at a time. I may a give them another try sometime but they didn't win my vote the first time. :(
I’ve worn the marshals, they’re pretty good lasted about a year of everyday use at work probably could get more out of them if you take better care of them than I did
I bought these in Steel toe… I love these boots!! Now the insole sucks! You need to buy some Dr Scholl’s or your feet will be hurting.. besides that,, 2 years and still rocking them hard in construction…
If you are working with material that dries and cakes on to the boots (drywall dust, mud, cement, etc) it’s important to not let your boots go more than a a few days to a week with that stuff caked on. Any type of material that sticks to leather and dries will pull the moisture out of the leather. If left unwashed and untreated it can cause the leather to crack and split. So avoid going too long without washing any caked on material off your boots. Then after you wash em (if you use soap only use a tiny bit) grab some mink oil and a rag. Buff the mink oil into the leather and try to get every nook and cranny you can. Spread it evenly. Let it sit for a couple minutes and then take a dry rag and buff them out. If you are working with oils and grease im not 100 % sure but i feel like you could probably just rub most of that into the leather and it would be fine. Theyd be stained and dirty but i dont think motor oil or equipment grease would hurt the leather. Anyway, hope that helps.
I only wear the 8" lace up work boot --- been a super for almost 35 years. Red Wings are overpriced and they don't hold up -- Die Hards from Sears are about 1/3 the price and last 3x longer I have found. The problem I had with my Irish Setters is the inside lining at the back of the boot along the heal rips apart pretty quickly trying to get the 8" on without completely unlacing each time you take them on or off. Once the inside lining rips, you need to have a 12" shoe horn to get them on and you have to push the lining around because it will get all bound up in one spot making the boot uncomfortable to wear. For my money -- Thorogood Heritage is the best out there
You simply cannot beat the 6 in. US made redwing steel toe boots. Or the steel toe regular mocks. Both styles are so comfortable right out the box. No braking in needed. That's real quality 😁
Im. Thorogood guy for a few years now. Decided to try these because my Co workers swear by them. Took them home and was disappointed theyre made in Vietnam

Most comfortable boots, Ever! Great video!
Keep it coming brotha. I’m enjoying your videos. I too I’m a boot freak lol.

Just pick up my 3rd pair of red wings but I just got my first pair of these and after the first week I think I’m sold for life

Haha yeah sorry i thought i was commenting on the main post section.
I have to agree with you you pay 100 bucks 200 bucks 300 bucks for boots they all last the same amount of time depending on what you do
Honestly really good review dude. Exactly the info and no nonsense I needed to hear. Keep it up!
I appreciate that! Thanks man
@@BootsandWatches your Irish Setter boots...I wear a men's 9.5 work boot. What size for this boot?
I like your reviews!
I wore in the 70’s early 80’s back when they were all USA. Very comfortable. Lasted long and weren’t too expensive.
A man just telling it how it is, thank you.
So comfortable and they hold up great
Just got mine today gonna be putting them through the paces as a mechanic

Nice review. You should be on Irish Setter payroll cause you sold me.
I love these boots so much i hate that they are becoming a trend with trends lowers the quality
I have some thorogoods but I might buy some of these to rotate between my thorogoods
Thanks for info!
What’s the inner sole material made of? Underneath the removable inner sole?
Everyone says good for hard surfaces but how do you think they would do for a landscaper in Florida ?
Great endorsement!
Thanks! Lol

Had the same thing happen to me. Really comfortable, but that leather was terrible. I also went back to my Thorogood boots.
Do you think the sole would last a year everyday use ?

The petroleum products you stepped in could cause the sole to become undone. Really.
Still liking them? I wear a men's 9.5....would I order the same with these boots??
Redwing Heritage 1907 for me. Soak them in neatsfoot out of the box and there’s not a close second on the market.
Nice boots to be working in lol! But yea I like those too!
I work at Amazon and do alot of walking and cleaning, we wear steel toes would this be a good boot?
I’m a size 8 in sneakers. 7.5 in all boots. Danner. Cactus. Should I go for the size? Thanks y’all
I still love my Therogood boots
Same here

These good for roofing ??
Is it really that hard to make a light boot, seems so.
Best boot.#1 on the Union jobsite
Have you ever worn Irish setter Marshalls? If so, what's your thoughts?
I have not, I’ll have to check those out

Mine took two weeks to break in. It was absolutely horrible
They tan the leather in Vietnam. Not the supply they use for the red wings. It’s slightly less quality. But still good leather
They are comfortable great workboots I'd to have steel toe
Just got these how often should I clean these and how do I clean them?

Esse solado é o todo.
Did they stop making these ? cant find them anymore
I just got a pair from Amazon last week and been wearing them daily. Love em!
do these run big or true to size
True
Do they have steel toe ?
Irish Setter makes these Ashby boots in a steel toe AND soft toe version, both look exactly alike.
My ever best is Caterpillar.
they need speed hooks
Where can I get this boots?
Amazon
I haven't seen one negative about these boots
Tried them, were made in Vietnam, did not last a season in Mech Construction, aluminum toes no good for nuclear x rays.

USA Made?
Unfortunately not, the leather is from USA but it wasn’t put together in USA

These don’t last. The insoles go bad, and the welts crack. Buy heritage redwings.
Irish setter used to be a good value. They now have turned to crap. I will not buy another.
Made in Vietnam or China, mostly China. Great job supporting foreign jobs, how very patriotic of you good sir.
The Ashby? That is like the cheapest crap boot by red wing
Red Wing does not make Irish setter Irish setter is made China
Too narrow. Uncomfortable.
Really, I think they suck!
Hot garbage, made in Vietnam.
