What memories that pie brings. At Christmas time all of us kids would go to my moms for what we called Christmas Eve. My mom would always make my twin sister (RIP Sis. I just put your pecan pie in the oven. Can’t wait. Thanks so much! I had to bake it for 60 minutes, The pie came out of the oven, cooled and my husband, my son and I ate half of it . It was so delicious.we finished it off the next day.
Also..thank you for demonstrating how to do the pie crusts. I’ve always struggled with that, but now I know how to get it right. You certainly have taught me a lot about cooking.
I’ve made pecan pie with the dark corn syrup before and it does taste quite a bit different from the white syrup but I find it very difficult to acquire dark corn syrup here in Texas. You just about have to go and buy your dark corn syrup during the summer months and stash it back in your cabinet until the holidays because by the time October rolls around they don’t have enough of it on the shelf for people to buy. The dark corn syrup does give it a much richer flavor and I like both, the pecan pies made from the white corn syrup and the dark corn syrup, and I have also eaten pecan pie made from just white sugar, no syrup. And that’s good too. But I will tell you if you’re ever stuck with having to use the white corn syrup or just plain sugar, if you will add a fourth of a cup or even a half of a cup of molasses to the pie you will get a very similar flavor that the dark corn syrup gives. It’s very good. And actually when people use the brown sugar rather than all white sugar they are also getting more molasses because that’s what brown sugar is made of and of course the dark brown sugar has more molasses than the light brown sugar. Since it is so extremely difficult to find dark corn syrup in some areas of the United States, I really believe it would be beneficial if you could pass this information on to your audience. Hopefully together we will be able to help people in a predicament. I’m sure many many people would love to make the pecan pie that you’re making because it is much richer and much more flavorful than what they could make or pick up already made at the grocery store. That’s for sure. Thank you for sharing your recipe 😋!
I too use to make homemade pie crust until this brand premade pie crust. Very good, just hard to tell not homemade. You won’t be sorry. 🦃🍁Happy Thanksgiving 🍁🦃
Thanks Tom and Melissa! 🥧 🍰 Thanks for the tip on that pie shield. Never heard of it. Always fought with aluminum foil around the edges. Blessings from Arizona 🌵
I enjoy watching u bake!! I thought how wonderful for a husband who likes to bake. I have always been the one who tried something new...how I would have love to have come home to someone baking in my kitchen. But I find it a joy to watch you and listen to your wife.,as she helps u!! Such a nice blessing to work together!! Many blessings to you both!!
Love pecan pie, my favorite! This recipe looks so good. I will definitely make this recipe. I’m enjoying the recipes and your channel. Thanks. Kindness, Teresa
This is a really good tutorial on this and also some great hints on that piecrust. I just bought six of them at the store to make pies. Happy Thanksgiving to y’all. I bet this is a great recipe he’s got!!!🦃👨🍳
Looks delicious! Have you ever tried the pecan pie with cook & serve vanilla pudding in it? Not as sweet as the traditional. 1- 3.5 oz vanilla pudding, not instant! 1 cup light corn syrup, 1 egg, 3/4 cup evaporated milk, 1 cup broken pecans or more, mix all together pour into pie crust deep dish 9 inch. Bake 375 - 35 to 40 min.
I enjoy watching y’all! I’m in Ormond Beach, but I’m originally from Georgia..so I laughed when you pronounced your pie..pecon. 😄. We pronounce it peCAN here in the south. 😉
My Mother always used both dark and light corn syrup it was like a happy medium in color. Love pecan pie. Thanks for the recipe ❤❤ Oh, very helpful about the pie crust too!
Thank you for explaining the difference in flavor with the dark and light corn syrup. Love the recipe, and my son love the way you deliver the recipes... Like a school teacher!!!
We love pecan pie(I think we love most pies) 🤭 Love watching your easy to follow demonstrations and recipes... always ready to learn .. ❣️Thank you both..from Paducah,Kentucky (school cafeteria worker for 19 years) retired ...have a lovely day
Thank you for the great tip on the pie crust! I will add it to my recipe so l don’t forget it. I am creating a favorite recipes cookbook so l have them all in one place and l will donate my cookbooks. It’s part of my downsizing since l am 75 and don’t want to leave a lot of unnecessary things for family to go through and decide what to keep, donate, or toss. One thing l always do when using pecans in a recipe is to toast them. I spread them evenly on a rimmed baking sheet and bake at 350 until they begin to turn darker and become aromatic, making sure to toss halfway through, 7 to 10 minutes, remove from the oven and let cool. You just have to keep an eye on them because you can overcook them!
Great tip! Thanks for sharing it with us. We appreciate that you've reached out to us. We've been so blessed with wonderful connections to people through this channel. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I have never made a homemade pie before but I’m definitely going to give this a try. You make it seem so easy with your instructions on making this. Thank you for sharing your recipe with us. You’re great at explaining everything.😊
You are such a good cook and a really good teacher! 🍎 I always learn something new watching your videos even if you're making something I've made before. Always a pleasure. Hope you will be free of those allergy issues soon 🙏
I just love watching you cook and bake Tom. I am watching you two over and over. I told my son about your dry brine for turkey and I think we're going to do that this year because he has a turkey frier and can't wait to use it.
You two are so cute! This is the first of your videos I’ve seen - you had me at “pecan pie”! I’m a native Californian but my husband is originally from Mississippi - one of 5 boys. They all have such wonderful memories of the big pecan tree in their yard back home, and Daddy shelling the nuts for hours so Mama would bake some pies. Pecan pie is still his absolute favorite, even at 70 years old. I made one for him many years ago, using his mom’s handwritten recipe, but something was “off”. I can’t wait to try your recipe and loved the step by step demonstration. I’ll make a couple of these for our family Christmas gathering here at our home…one for him and one for the four brothers! 😆. Thank you!
Hi y’all I love pecan pie and will be making y’all’s pecan pie for the holidays ! Thanks for always adding the recipe and instructions with each video ! God bless ❤️🙏🙋🏻🌈🌈
This looks delicious. Always good to see a different pecan pie recipe. I make a different version and baste the rim of my pie crust with egg white instead of using a pie rim (going on 50 yrs). I also prick the bottom and sides with a fork to keep the crust from bubbling up.
I just canned pecan pie filling yesterday, but used no eggs or Karo...used clear jel as thickening. If I can find a pressure canner at a reasonable price, I'll can some filling with all the frills. Always good to have things on hand to make a fast treat when needed. Thanks for sharing. When I get to can, I'll definitely use pieces instead of whole pecans 🥰
I made this yesterday for Thanksgiving. It was delicious!! There were a few more pecans than a traditional recipe, but my family was happy about that! If anyone is wondering about the added cinnamon, the taste was very subtle and reminded me of the cinnamon pecans that are sold around Christmas in the mall. Thank you so much for all of your videos. I’m a teacher and it’s been my morning routine for the last couple of weeks to watch your videos while I get ready for school. 😊
Hi, I really love all your videos. I'm not a big fan of pecans unless they are very finely chopped. 😊 That pie looks delicious. I have never used the box pie shell, however, I do use the frozen that is already in a pie tin. This Thanksgiving I'm going to try the box pie shell. I'll give it a try. Mr. Tom, I also purchased the pie crust cover I think they will work better instead of aluminum foil that I've been using for years. Melissa, you do a great job with the camera. 😊
It is true.. Tom's dishes are very rich with all the butter, sugar and all the delish ingredients which are oh so loaded. But the man ploughs trenches thru my soul with his stunning recipes he teaches us. Thank you Tom. Tasteless food is not my fortè
I just wanted to thank you for sharing your delicious recipes. I made the one with the cream cheese and pastry roll however I tweeted it just a bit. I added a can of apple pie mix , spreading the apples evenly over the cream cheese then the rest of the mix . It was simply DELICIOUS !!!
Thanks for your many great recipes! I love the Pillsbury pie crusts but have never rolled them out before placing in the plate. What a helpful idea! You guys are a great team!
Your pie crust looks so good. Your sure make it look so easy. My pie crust always shrinks, now I know why. I bought some pretty frozen pie shells to make my pecan pie. They are not like the other kind, they are Marie Callendar frozen pie shells. I found them in my Food Lion store and they were on sale, so I stocked up. I do not know if they are a holiday item or not, but the edges are so pretty. I got to learn how to do pie shells, all it takes is time and practice, but you sure make it look so easy.
We appreciate those nice words. Thanks so much for watching our channel and enjoy the pies! It's always a happy day when you can stock up on items you like that are on sale! Happy Thanksgiving!
Your pecan pie and pumpkin pie will be on our Thanksgiving table! Thanks for your demonstration of rolling out and flouring the pie crust! Wishing you and Melinda a blessed Thanksgiving!
Can't help but wonder what genius came up with pecan pie 🥧 I can imagine them in the kitchen at winter ❄️ cold outside and a fire roaring and came up with it.
Made a many of pecan pie but never but pecan in first. Always mix in filling. I use Blackburn table syrup instead of Karo works well love the taste. Love your channel.
We love that food can connect us with special people in our lives. I'm going to send you a link to the mini pecan pies video we made a few weeks ago. It sounds like what your aunt made. Thanks so much for watching our channel. We hope your Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are great this year. studio.ruclips.net/user/videoKaS4wkJKFHs/edit
I remember my first attempt at a pecan pie and this was before the internet. It didn't set very well, still good Like you said very little or no jiggle. As my taste refined, I use light syrup and add molasses for a medium dark color. Most store bought ones use light syrup and IMHO they are lacking but the dark syrup is a little much, I've found a middle ground. Great video will help many young cooks this Thanksgiving.
I had been thinking about making a pecan pie for Thanksgiving, and I think that I will be using your recipe. I may use a technique that my mother taught me years ago to use 50% Karo Syrup and 50% Golden Sorghum Molasses. I live just across the Ohio River from Paducah, KY in Southern Illinois.
This is a wonderful recipe. Perfect for Thanksgiving. I just love all of your recipes!😍 Tom you are such a gentlemen. You and Melissa are such a blessed couple. Yes if you publish a cookbook I will definitely purchase one and gifts for friends. I eagerly await for a new recipe. I am in Hawaii so some of the recipes are new to me but still dishes that I would prepare for my family. God Bless you both and Aloha from Hawaii 🌺🥰🌺
I will have to say,to make this pie.... looks very easy to do. You are both amazing....Thank You for being here and showing us how to do what you do.....
Thanks so much 😊 We really appreciate the nice comment. In our opinion, this is a very easy recipe to put together for the holiday. Happy Thanksgiving!
I love that mat for rolling out my pie shells and especially for cutting out biscuits. I just remodeled my kitchen and put quartz counters in. I won’t cut out biscuits on my counters. Of course I didn’t when I had Formica counters. This has got to be one more delicious pie. Thank you for sharing. Have a beautiful, peaceful day. ❤🙏🏻There was more than one piece of pie cut out of your pie… 🤔🤔😂
I am definitely going to make this pie this season. Thank you for sharing your recipe and your ideas such as spraying your measuring cup with spray oil before measuring corn syrup and the detail of the cap of vanilla extract equivalent to a teaspoon. Thanks y'all and God Bless!
Good morning Tom & Melissa, Tom, how can you eat that pie in front of us? That happy face, well do enjoy. The pie turned out so delicious looking and the pie crust baked beautifully. This sure is a winner. I agree, the smaller pecans make the cutting of the pie much better. Eat with ice cream, just cream or just enjoy this is always welcome at the table. Thank you for sharing the tips with the flour on the pastry, and the great recipe. We do not celebrate Thanks Giving but there is no reason not to bake this Pecan Pie and be grateful. Thank you for sharing, many blessings. Do have a wonderful Thanks Giving day in any which way you are going to spend it. Kind regards.
For the holidays my momma always took good vanilla ice cream, softened it and added cinnamon to it. She had a metal pan she would scoop it into and let it harden back up.
I was always afraid to make a pecan pie. Your tutorial and instructions make me feel a lot more comfortable in trying it now. Thanks for the recipe and wish me luck because I will be making this one. I have to also tell you that I love what you say at the end of your videos and I feel that I would be welcomed to "Come Sit At your Table."

Me, too! I always do half light and half dark corn syrup. I think that makes the perfect pecan pie.

Because it won't have the right texture

Iam from New Orleans la and I can tell you awesome job you guys are very nice to watch thanks enjoy the holidays to you and yours
Pecan pie is one of my favorites it looks absolutely delicious a beautiful pie
I got my mat At Michael’s! They are great!
Nice to know where to locate them! Thanks for sharing that. .
Oh my! This pie looks absolutely delicious! Thank you!
Making this for Thanksgiving and Christmas this year, thank you so much!
Pecan Pie is my favorite, and I use the same recipe! Comes out perfect every time.
what you said about not stretching a crust is very good to know, i never heard that before
You do Kentucky proud!
Aww! Thanks so much. How very kind of you to say that! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Looks scrumptious 😋
I am from Crossville, TN. I live in Kentucky now. Glad you like the rolling pin.
Your PIE CRUST IS BEAUTIFUL!!
It looks like a go to pecan pie 🥧. 😊
Love Pecan Pie yummy
Your pecan pie and pumpkin pie will be on our Thanksgiving table! Thanks for your demonstration of rolling out and flouring the pie crust! Wishing you and Melinda a blessed Thanksgiving!
Can't help but wonder what genius came up with pecan pie 🥧 I can imagine them in the kitchen at winter ❄️ cold outside and a fire roaring and came up with it.
Love pecan pie ❤
You guys are fantastic. I LOVE your recipes. Joy
Made a many of pecan pie but never but pecan in first. Always mix in filling. I use Blackburn table syrup instead of Karo works well love the taste.
Love your channel.
My late Father's Sister made Pecan Pie Tarts for ages for Holiday dinners. This video brought back great memories of those days !
We love that food can connect us with special people in our lives. I'm going to send you a link to the mini pecan pies video we made a few weeks ago. It sounds like what your aunt made. Thanks so much for watching our channel. We hope your Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are great this year.

Warm pecan pie with whipped cream. Yum!
Your pecan pie looks positively YUMMY!!! 🥰❤️🎶🇨🇦🙏🙏🙏
Makes me miss my Mom's pies so much! Thanks for the reminder how yummy pecan pies are! Happy Thanksgiving to you both
I love that mat for rolling out my pie shells and especially for cutting out biscuits.
Thank you for easy recipe, I’m watching you from New York, Thnks again I’m gonna make as we speak 😊
That pie crust looks perfect 👌!
I am definitely going to make this pie this season. Thank you for sharing your recipe and your ideas such as spraying your measuring cup with spray oil before measuring corn syrup and the detail of the cap of vanilla extract equivalent to a teaspoon. Thanks y'all and God Bless!
We hope you enjoy it. Thanks so much for watching and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Yummy 😋 delicious 😋
Looks delicious.
