It’s cool to see new technologies or ones outside of my budget (like Miroki/Miroka or Spot). Unitree’s Go2 robot is actually cheaper than Sony Aibo as it’s about half the price of the ERS-1000. It’s on pre-order now.
Price is a lie, always is. Shipping and import rates make it well above 6k for a package that makes these functional robots. Source: I got the first version which was supposed to be 2700 dollars but was wayyy more.

It seems Ukraine already uses it, at this consumer electronic price. Lidar spinning mouth means it can be full self driving with AI software. In future, these things are radically different from human extension devices, since AI will make many decisions doing things. It is human competing technology.
I’m uncertain how to respond to your comment. Anyone familiar with Spot from Boston Dynamics knows it’s used in situations dangerous for humans (gas leaks, burning areas/buildings). If a robot can take the risk to save humans, what precisely is the issue?

I think the company might need to try to put a skin on it that looks more like a dog or a cat depending on your preference and market it to the average joe Like I said the biggest selling point It won't leave a mess on the living room carpet

Was this being remote controlled or moving on its own? This seems like the ultimate affordable robot pet.
Go2 was being remote controlled but they have a higher level one that can be coded. This one may have basic coding and AI as obstacle avoidance (refusing to run into us) was there. It’s pretty impressive and I’m looking forward to seeing the first wave of owners to decide if I want to buy one.

Unfortunately it’s too expensive for me to purchase if I’m going to end up a beta tester. Did you find the constantly spinning sensor annoying? Was it noisy?
@@robotsaroundthehouse The conference was noisy with all the people so I can’t say it was noisy for that reason. It was less noisy than the people in the area were. As for the LiDAR sensor, it was open there but isn’t if purchased. I asked them that the next day. That area is covered by a part that wasn’t on the demo unit. As such, you won’t see it spinning as it will be covered.

Yeah, although the Go2 is plastic-based and lighter, so not as robust as the Boston Dynamics version. I’d rather have a lighter weight one myself as I could carry this one 😁

I like the design, But the mods suck, They should had made those lights on the mod integral, All they had to do was make the head bigger to hold it. Why did they put Lights on the Rear?

Boston dynamics has been doing this long before them
Sony has been making robot dogs (Aibo) since 1999. What is your point? This costs $1600 USD. Spot by Boston Dynamics (now a subsidiary owned by Hyundai) costs around $74,500 USD. Unitree’s robot is intended for consumers. Boston Dynamics is intended for corporations.

This looks like Spot from Boston Dynamics, so this robotic dog form has been around for years, predating Black Mirror episodes
somehow it's not visually appealing, that's a less gentle way to put it...i'd prefer a real dog over it anytime
I actually like this ok. Every robot has its own look. Not all can look as amazing as Moxie or Jibo
