I missed this phone all of a sudden. I remember watching pocket now 3 years ago for this phone. I loved this, I wanted it so bad. Now I kinda want to buy one haha. This phone started the smartphone revolution. Started everything and why our smartphones are like this now. Classic. One of the best phones ever made!
greatest phone ever released period what other phone runs every os even the latest builds of android flawlessly and 4 years after launch the beast is still getting updates even kit kat is in development for it what a phone i still use this phone as my every day phone simply amazing ps i have 10 of them also just i case one decides to break
The HD2 was awesome, and probably represented a whole new era for mobile devices, it had the LARGEST of screens, the FASTEST of processors (back in the day, of course) and what I consider to be one of the most incredibly awesome interfaces, which is Sense, its good to know its still an evolving interface in the Android Platform.
what i love the most about this phone is the fact that - just like the iPhone - it is pushing the boundaries. The new Smartphones will being to have have bigger screens because its what people like. The HTC HD2 is the hottest phone right now, and rightfully so.
how does personalization work on this phone - can you get rid of all the stuff on the front like the weather and what not? I've seen the same set up in every video. As far as ringtones go, can you make your own like u can using ringdriod??
Great review... lots of information and moves very quickly. Great job. A couple issues I've had with my HD2 are the inability to email from private domains (I believe it should do it... but, after hours spent with Support at T-mobile, HTC and GoDaddy I still can not Send from GoDaddy hosted domains). The T-Mobile store just 'slammed' Windows and threw up their hands. My other issue is the limited number of apps. Although not a HD2 issue, the limited number of appsl limits the user experience.
Had this phone for ages. It always crashed, the charging port broke every other week and now the screen has smashed (which to be fair could happen to most phones). Getting it refurbished then selling it, can't wait to get rid of it. Also it had many scratches
Is WM so bad? I have used both WM and Android phones b4. But both are pretty neat in each of its own way. Android is too new. It does not have must 3rd apps like WM. Have not used Iphone much before. But do you mind to share what's make u think that iPhone is better, especially with Sense UI now with WM? Pardon me, but i feel that all the icon-based standby screens on the iPhone is like so yesterday technology...
I have a friend who has this phone an he now has android combined with windows downloaded to his phone. How do i find the software to do the same to my new hd2?
@nlex6 do you know if i order the hd2 phone from europe or asia and i unlock it ..it should work once i put my at&T sim card..right? i know i wouldn't have 3g but i don't think i will have 3g anyway if it is realeased here on tMOBLIE because i have at&t anyway.
I am having to soft reset a few times, hard reset a couple of times, transferring music/videos are a pain, phone won't see album art. Might have to return this and wait for the Evo.
@nightvigilante I've got it, it's awesome so far just disappointed with the whole music usage, as in how exactly do I get my songs to play on the HTC's Windows Media Player?
@kemarwalker Why the hate? Are you having issues with reliability etc? I have had mine since march and I can honestly say its the best phone ive ever had. I can stream tv to it, watch downloaded tv etc Use it as a tethered wifi router for my laptop, edit and play music, use the GPS for navigation and all sorts of stuff. Its been great for me. I have read that there have been issues with SMS messaging and some troubles with the UK Vodafone network cutting off calls tho.
@urgum3 remember how great the specs are for the HD2. Basically top of the line. Even so, the cell phone keeps getting better and better. It won't be extremely outdated, after the contract, but something better is always coming out. It never fails.
Something to take into consideration here Brandon is the fact that it is running on AT&Ts Edge network. Comparing the iPhone, when Im places where there is only edge. IE Wichita Falls for 30 days. I was getting 6 hours of use and 25-28 hours of standby. on 3G in my home area SF-Bay Area. I can only get about 4 hours of use and 16 hours of standby. Also did you mention anything about the external storage of the device? I didnt pick up on that part. Its awesome though. but NO AT&T oh well
Most HTC phones are more attractive than their predecessors... and it's cool how different carriers have different phones, while European versions are different yet again. All said, I think the Euro HD2 is THE coolest looking phone from HTC. Although, I'm a fan of sliding keyboards, which always add unattractive/inconvenient bulk. I can't wait until Sprint carries this. Attractiveness aside, I want a capacitive touch screen!
i read that there are problem when sending sms from the Sense UI. Sms messages will sometimes not be able to send out and got stuck in the outbox.... anyone facing that issue?
yes that was what we (the users told htc in hong kong meeting when it launched), if hd2 w/ android, a dynamic duo. and people there sure aould buy it right away. BTW, window phones marketing now united against diff platform in advertising here not against diff brands of wm phones.
we got it a month in hong kong, the price surged up to us$769, n a waiting list for stock. now back to proposed price us$730 gathered all users opnion here : the hard ware is great, htc UI covered most of the weakness of wm. but the early chinese version has some bugs, the eng has less problem. the task manager is the only worry here. battery is ok but not the best as we cant expect from large screen. on line is the fasteast here w/ 3g, wifi, hspda, dethrone the iphone 3gs. n lack sw from wm
i bought my n900 for about 520$ a bargin imo. sure it's a bit imature software but the potential is huge. im waiting curiusly for the 1.1 firmware ;) i dont have no restarting bug as som one pointed out but thats me :) The HD2 is more like a common cell phone while the n900 is everything i dreamt of :) in the end both are very good phones but for ME the nokia is the keeper. over and out!!
@wowcrazy70 I have the tilt2 andi my phone wouldnt let me get in even though the password was right, so i was locked out, and i to re-install stock ROM from HTC website. that sucked and pissed me off.
Yeah its a crappy phone running Windows but when u put android in it its a hot phone.. I know cause I have a hd2 running 3.0 android and it runs great.. so its not the phone is operating that sucks
Hd2 is a great phone I have it and the evo and the inspire 4g and even though the hd2 is the oldest of the three it is equal to evo if not better and still hangs with the inspire
Yeah Ive held it and guys seriously be under no illusions, this device is big. I have the Touch HD and looking at the differences on paper it seems only a tiny bit bigger but in your hand its very noticeable. Im sure for many people thats not an issue but I feel brandon really under played how big this sucker is. Def go try it out before buying
damn im completely in love with this phone, i want it so bad but it really sucks that its going to tmobile =[ damn you verizon for not getting this phone!
hd2 > n1 by far. plus now that tmobile will be selling it through upgrades and activations, you'll have LIVE customer support and not googles email support. Also php insurance covers the phone unlike n1 where there is a lot of stipulations
@akm1516 I would argue no. The only thing the HD2 has that is greater is the larger screen. The Nexus one has the far superior OS, though. Check out the Spring Evo 4G if you can. It's an upgraded HD2 with Android and 4G coverage.
depends what u need 1st, set the mark then u can compare. everyone's pirority is diff. i had set: screen size 15pts, touch 15, cam 5, definition 10 software 5, browser10, hand writing10, UI 10, outlook5, user friendly/ smoothness 10; to add together ,my score on hd2 81, 3gs 77, toshiba tg01 66,samsungi8910 64, se satio 59, moto milestone 59. may be u r not agree cos it rated in my preference, my needs. n i tried all of them. it doesnt mean which is better, it only means one is fit me better
I remember my first smartphone was a HTC HD2.
i wonder how horribly slow this phone is now??
Mine too.
i have had my hd2 for a while, and i love it. with a little tweaking you have a real boss of a phone.
I missed this phone all of a sudden. I remember watching pocket now 3 years ago for this phone. I loved this, I wanted it so bad. Now I kinda want to buy one haha. This phone started the smartphone revolution. Started everything and why our smartphones are like this now. Classic. One of the best phones ever made!
its a legend, did you know android 4.4 is running quite well on it? its so awesome!
feels like a mini nexus 7 lol
greatest phone ever released period what other phone runs every os even the latest builds of android flawlessly and 4 years after launch the beast is still getting updates even kit kat is in development for it what a phone i still use this phone as my every day phone simply amazing ps i have 10 of them also just i case one decides to break
3 years after this comment and it's got nougat

If that thing only had a better camera.
And maybe a smaller version with a 3.5" screen.
The design is very streamlined and minimalistic, love it!
how does personalization work on this phone - can you get rid of all the stuff on the front like the weather and what not? I've seen the same set up in every video. As far as ringtones go, can you make your own like u can using ringdriod??

brandon, could you compare this phone with the n900 or another phone that is comaprable, por favor?
so he said its coming Tmobile in the US? is that confirmed? can i buy one with no contract and use it with ATT?
I heard a lot about freezing/hanging issue of this device. now i'm having a second thought of buying one or getting other smartphone.
Please advice!
It works as good as it looks. Brilliant.
yeah i guess its okay
which one is better though this phone or htc sensation?
should I get this or the samsung vibrant
how did you get the phone to work for AT&T... did you get it unlocked?
Had this phone for ages. It always crashed, the charging port broke every other week and now the screen has smashed (which to be fair could happen to most phones). Getting it refurbished then selling it, can't wait to get rid of it. Also it had many scratches
Does the phone support the latest version of flash player or flash lite? Plz let me know asap
Does Opera perform better on this than IE? And can you upgrade this to windows 7?
Is WM so bad? I have used both WM and Android phones b4. But both are pretty neat in each of its own way. Android is too new. It does not have must 3rd apps like WM.

NICE!!!!! Glass ftw. That thing will never scratch. I have a Zune 80 that I've had for 1 1/2 years, it has a glass screen, it has 0 scratches.
I have a friend who has this phone an he now has android combined with windows downloaded to his phone. How do i find the software to do the same to my new hd2?
htc hd2 or sony ericson xperia x10 ? ho better on multimedia?
@nlex6
do you know if i order the hd2 phone from europe or asia and i unlock it ..it should work once i put my at&T sim card..right? i know i wouldn't have 3g but i don't think i will have 3g anyway if it is realeased here on tMOBLIE because i have at&t anyway.
the HD2 now has 576 MB of ram now with the updates and stuff. Thats a tremendous amount.
what rom did you have on this phone at the time the video was taken?
I am having to soft reset a few times, hard reset a couple of times, transferring music/videos are a pain, phone won't see album art. Might have to return this and wait for the Evo.
i think im in love
i bet the price woukld be 700$
what is the max memory you can get on that device>?
how bad? whats the problem u ve faced can u share details?
Which one is better?? Htc hd2 or htc aria. Please reply back with answer
you really make some greaat reviews! greetings from mexico!
@nightvigilante I've got it, it's awesome so far just disappointed with the whole music usage, as in how exactly do I get my songs to play on the HTC's Windows Media Player?
Wow that the screen is huge!
Well,8 years ago now our phones are 5.5inch+...
Really want to upgrade from my X1 to this but oh well.. Will have to wait for another year and a half :)
so i get it an unlocked htc hd2 will at&t 3g coverage work?
@kemarwalker Why the hate? Are you having issues with reliability etc? I have had mine since march and I can honestly say its the best phone ive ever had. how to restore the phone system? I have the old youtube and my market does't working;(
has ur froozen yet cus wen ever i put in my unlock code it might freeze sometimes, please let me know
why didn't you talk about the camera, it has a 5 mp camera with "touch to focus" and its just gorgeous
the first huge screen smartphone. physically built better than many phones. Metal phones should have a removable slide off battery covwr.

Please Help me because I install Skyfire on my hd2 but when i open it said that "you need connection data" please help me.... sorry for my english :))

can you watch HD movies in it ?
unlocked for att?
I'll buy it...
The screen from the iPhone is tiny in comparisson with the HD2, i have the HD2 and an iPod touch, my iTouch looks tiny !!
from consumer's point, why dont wait for 3-4 generation of this platform to matiure n may be lower $ to buy the nokia N900 series?
yes that was what we (the users told htc in hong kong meeting when it launched), if hd2 w/ android, a dynamic duo. and people there sure aould buy it right away. BTW, window phones marketing now united against diff platform in advertising here not against diff brands of wm phones.

i bought my n900 for about 520$ a bargin imo.
sure it's a bit imature software but the potential is huge. im waiting curiusly for the 1.1 firmware ;)
i dont have no restarting bug as som one pointed out but thats me :)
The HD2 is more like a common cell phone while the n900 is everything i dreamt of :)
in the end both are very good phones but for ME the nokia is the keeper. over and out!!
this video is old but the phone is still awesome
@wowcrazy70 I have the tilt2 andi my phone wouldnt let me get in even though the password was right, so i was locked out, and i to re-install stock ROM from HTC website. that sucked and pissed me off.
100% Agreed.
Awesome phone, if only it had 16million colors then it would be perfect
awesome phone for its time. I still want it. flash windows 7 or android its all good
SkyFire does not work on Windows Mobile anymore. You may want to try dual-booting Android and running SkyFire via Android.
batery life?
the most durable phone ive ever had was the tmobile g1, the phone itself sucks but it is one tough puppy.
Just noticed that the key scratched the screen..
No existen vídeos de explicación del si tu htc se se en español
why is tmo getting all of the good phones this coming quarter?
I'm trying to figure out how he gets such a great battery life even if I don't use it don't last a day n a half
I see... so that error does really exists in certain handsets... oh well, hope my set will be fine when I get it. Thanks.!
Yeah its a crappy phone running Windows but when u put android in it its a hot phone.. I know cause I have a hd2 running 3.0 android and it runs great.. so its not the phone is operating that sucks
does anyone know how to fix all the freezing? its annoying =[
do a couple master resets before using phone and take the msg and email tab off your homescreen i read the msg part freeze ur phone
They made the HD7 for WP7, but haven't made a HD8 yet
iPhone is dead? How so, please elaborate.
Ohh i want that phone gonna try to get it!
Nice video!
is it laggy?
HTC HD2 or HTC Evo 4G?
The N900 is awesome, but the restarting bug is really vexing and no native portrait mode is stupid.
if that screen is big then why does the S4 mini have 4.3 inch
I wish they would make an hd3 for WP8
Hd2 is a great phone I have it and the evo and the inspire 4g and even though the hd2 is the oldest of the three it is equal to evo if not better and still hangs with the inspire

damn im completely in love with this phone, i want it so bad but it really sucks that its going to tmobile =[ damn you verizon for not getting this phone!
I love this phone
best phone ever cant wait to buy it
hd2 > n1 by far.
plus now that tmobile will be selling it through upgrades and activations, you'll have LIVE customer support and not googles email support. Also php insurance covers the phone unlike n1 where there is a lot of stipulations
It would probably be called the HD8. They'll probably find a way to get this to run on Windows Phone 8 though, if they haven't already.
@akm1516 I would argue no. The only thing the HD2 has that is greater is the larger screen. The Nexus one has the far superior OS, though.
Check out the Spring Evo 4G if you can. It's an upgraded HD2 with Android and 4G coverage.
"uses real materials" as opposed to unobtanium?
i sold it already :[

OMG!! I WANT THIS PHONE!! IM GONNA FOR SURE GET IT FOR CHRISTMAS!! I
before i got it, i chose from 3gs n hd2, actually i got 1 3gs that used by my gf. hd2 fits my needs more cos 3gs is more like entertaining device
thumbs up if you were expecting the screen to crack when he put the key on it haha
I still prefer Windows Mobile over Android! If I had to choose between this device and Galaxy S4, this phone would be my choice!
It looked cooler than windows phone which was why I never owned one
@nightvigilante Thanks a lot for the reply, sorry for the delay in me thanking you, I was away on holiday. :)
Thanks!!
