Poor Eefje is a bit more sensitive to her surroundings, got a little spooked, probably sensed the excitement in everyone, and tightened up so her movement wasn't what it might be. From one sensitive soul to another, you're a star to me, Eefje.

Hester’s trot is perfection. Great … Star Hester … what a beautiful horse. Eefje is also a beautiful horse. I think she has a gorgeous trot too. I think Eefie should have gotten the Star rating. She is beautiful and did an excellent job, plus it was pouring rain. I hope she was sold to a good home and is very happy. I would love to have gotten her.

I think they are both gorgeous. Eefje didn't have a great environment to work in with the rain. I would be so thrilled to be her person.

I agree whole heartedly. That was not fair to Eefje to compete in the rain. I find that unacceptable and she paid the price.
I like her "short" reaching trot...won't ever worry that she steps on herself and trips. I don't blame her one bit about not liking the rain...the handler didn't like it either and seemed to lean on her a bit and not take full strides...possibly afraid to slip and fall for both of them🤷♀️ but I like her "smaller" looking build...vary light and dainty compared to some of the heavier built body types. Vary elegant carriage horse built for a lady. I know I'm a sucker for heavy body horses but she has the lady vibe all through her!
@@RedHybiscus Eefje is sickle hocked, a conformation fault (i.e., born with it) that you don't want passed on in a breeding program. The weather had nothing to do with her skeletal issues.

I love Eefje, but comparing her with Hester, her walk is a tiny tad weaker and her trot, too. So, I get why she did not make it. But as she has a good home now, too, she will probably live a happy horsie life and she won't mind not being a star mare. She will be a star in her own world.
Yes. She's beautiful, but seemed a little sluggish compared to Hester. Still, whoever owns her now is very fortunate. I can only dream of having a horse like that.
It was not fair that she had to compete in such a heavy rain even the Handler didn't like it How do you want her to relax her back when it's raining cats and dogs and everybody wants to get dry I was angry the first time I saw that video and I am still angry rewatching it I miss my little feisty Houdini

This was quite informative. From what I understand, when it is time to breed Hester, a stallion will be chosen that has the traits or qualities that will help correct any flaws or low scoring areas found during her inspection in order to produce a superior foal.
They are so beautiful in flight (trot). Literally floating forward. Magnificent.

Hester has a beautiful high step when she is in trot mode.
Yes that's what I meant at the right speed her trot is perfect. They're so easy going I think they watch out for the handler but when they get going her trot is perfect. Also in the film you can see, as they explain it, the back leg has to come up almost to step in the print of the front leg but EEFJES' beautiful when she trots.🤩🥰
Look, they are fabulous animals but I can see that there could be more propulsion from the hind quarters

Eefje having such a successful & charismatic sire & dam (Friesian King Jasper 366 Sport Elite preferent & Our favorite Queen Uniek Crown Sport) one would assume she'd have star status in the bag! I guess things don't always turn out how we'd like, and that's ok. Eefje is a stunning mare who I'm sure has won the hearts of her new family the same way she has ours. Really happy overall! Both Hester and Eifje seemed,to my untrained eyes, to present so well - I would give them all a star ! I am so happy for Hester and for everyone at the stable ,especially Rein and Yvonne 😊

Hester’s hindquarters and legs are amazing!
Eefje comes back into the stable from her trip home. "Hey, girl! Where've you been? Glad to see you back with the gang". Loved all those curious faces looking out at their herd "sister".

While Hester"s trot is beautiful, I do think Eefje's trot feels lighter somehow. A shame she didn't get a star grade, though she did seem a little tense despite a beautiful demonstration. I'll certainly miss seeing her, she's a lovely horse and will bring a lot of joy to her owners!

Eefjs didn’t have a good chance at all since it rained both times she was in the inspection, I remember her first time n now raining 😏 but she is a beautiful lady

Rick gore's chanel Think Like a Horse is another one who gives excellent honest advice and information about the horse!!! He recently lost his 24 year old mustang and his gelding Buddy who was raised by Rick and his mustang Tanner or Mr T has a new pasture mate.
I could go on but there's not enough space. You can learn a lot from him as well!!!

I’m no a professional but the judge mentioned that her hind legs and back is a bit tight(16:28) , and when you touched her back before she was shown she had a “shaky spot” on her back and that usually means that the vertebrates are locked and not moving properly, that also leads to muscle knots. So I would strongly recommend that you bring a chiropractor to your stables and let them check her whole body. Maybe there are other spots too that needs adjusting. After the chiropractor she should move her hind legs and back much more “springy” with longer strides and more flow. Just some advice from me. ❤️ Love your stables, your horses and my cousin is also breeding Friesians (in Sweden). Good luck!! 👍🏻
@@LindaEll89 yes I saw the text later in the video (that she was sold) still that’s an advice for whoever is currently the owner. And Yvonne can, if she wants, relay the information to the new owners.
Beautiful Hester and Eefje🖤🖤 When they have been prepared at stal Chardon for the inspection they always look so beautiful shiny and sleek and streamlined🤩 I probably use the wrong terminology, but that’s my untrained eye😯 Congratulations to both Hester and Eefje for starting a new future from this point❤️❤️❤️❤️
This video was made shortly before I found Yvonne's channel, so I only know of Eefje from the older videos. Beautiful girl, I hope she has the best life with her new family. And Hester is one of Stal G's star 🌟 mares! Goedzo! 🎉
Eefje had a few tiny minor points they thought. Nothing was said of her being happy, alert, sporting her tail high. There should be points indicating the horses' health between the ears.
If that was the case Eefje would have gotten a double star at least !!! (^8
A bit unrelated: We have a two year old pony stallion at the stable and he is supposed to go to inspection in winter. When I asked how he is doing, the owner told me that he is very well behaved, does everything perfectly. I answered: "Sadly that is nothing they will judge during inspection ..."
You can have the nicest horse, but if they are not moving well, it will come to nothing. There should be more awareness of character imo.
It should not be overly weighted on the side of movement. Her sickle hocks are a significant conformational defect, and could cause problems later.

@@lisajoyaslanis - Who knows? Yvonne has spoken often about deformities and other problems due to inbreeding during the time Fresians were so rare. Although every effort is being made to breed out those things, some genes may lie dormant, and pop up from time to time. One of the Stall G mares had a foal with a deformed jaw - that I assumed was put down - just last year, I think. Another foal born a few years ago, only lived a few days, and Myrthe lived several months, but had to be destroyed because of a neurological problem. So even though the very best mares - Star and Crown - are being bred to the very best approved stallions, defects are still happening, but every attempt is being made to breed them out. They seem to have come a very long way in a relatively short time. I saw a video recently of a rescue - in Switzerland, I think? - who brought in an aged Fresian stallion, who still had a beautiful head and neck, but was very deformed with swayback. The center of his back was way below the level of his hips and shoulders - and I read somewhere that used to be a big problem with Fresians, so we can see that problem has been corrected. They will just continue to get better with careful breeding.

@@LindaEll89 can a horse be reinspected, for example, if the horse had a bad day or movement and presentation would benefit from building up muscle and more fitness? I don't really understand the judging process of course but it some of it seems arbitrary for a young horse that's still developing. I also wondered if that is how some mares become Kroon at a later date?

I really enjoy the architecture of the beautiful large Friesland estate homes…. One does not see that type of architecture in the USA . The barns that some people have are enormous. To own Friesians in Friesland is not for the financially meek. Last but not least throw in the cost of the friesians. The surface that they did the inspection on was perfect. That is a very handy little horse transport vehicle. I would have had one when I had my stable to transport the horses. But some vehicles that are sold in Europe are not sold in the USA. I could not make out the logo on the. Steering wheel. Beautifully translated and edited as always yvonne!!!… what a dream to own one of uniek’s mares or stallion’s

Eefje is spectacular, but I see the difference between her & Hester. Eefje is all one could ask to pull a small parade type buggy. More that than dressage, I think, to bring out her show qualities. Two very willing horses. I’m sure Eefje’s buyer was glad she didn’t get the star, & they had a chance to snap her up! Such a sweet horse!!!
Pity Eefje didn't make Star but I'm sure she's making her new family very happy.

Wow, well, this was so interesting! I've missed seeing Eefje and knew she was sold, so it's helpful to compare her performance and conformation with Hester's to see where Eefje was lacking. I don't really understand why improving a horse's gait from year to year can earn a star rating, if this is for breeding purposes. But I guess if the owners try to correct the gait and the horse can't do it, it may say something about either the mare's trainability or her anatomy. In any case, both looked beautiful in their different ways.... Fun seeing horse Yvonne with person Yvonne! I hope we get to see Eefje again.

I remember being told a gallop is when all feet are off the ground for part of the stride. Hester is off the ground a lot with her beautiful trot.

Eefje is one of my favorites because of her beautiful color, great hair growth and she looks to be smooth and comfortable to ride. Her large stature is a plus for me. Neck and head are held lovely when she moves. I think she should be trained over some low jumps to get her to loosen up and gather herself more balanced when she pushes off from her hind legs into her gait. I wish I could afford her. You really breed lovely stock.
