Thank goodness you did this tutorial! .. as Bitwarden was about to lose a customer due to their poor guides on How to do anything from a Beginner's perspective. I hope they are paying you !
Same. I'm going to be a paying customer too. I'm leaving Lastpass on 4-16-2021 ...
I am a beginner. I viewed several tutorials before I stumbled on to this video. Most others go very fast. In spite of repeated viewing other videos, I was nowhere near to understanding the steps. You go slowly, repeat the steps linearly and non-linearly so the viewer understands the steps. Excellent video! Bitwarden should pay you. Thank you for helping me.
Thanks for this great tutorial from a German user. No one has managed here so far to explain the topic bitwarden so extensively. Thank you very much and the channel is subscribed!
That was a very comprehensive tutorial! I thought I knew how to use Bitwarden, but I decided to watch your tutorial on the off chance that I might learn something. And I actually learned quite a bit, so thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial.
You're so right, it's been very hard to find good information about Bitwarden. But not anymore :-)
Who is here after the last pass change
me :(
Me. Bitwarden has been more reliable on Android.
+1
Yo
Looks pretty good, but I see no Bank Vault import anywhere. Just my cards. Tia
Thanks for a great tutorial for new users of password managers, I tried 1password but all the comments on that video led me to Bitwarden as the best so far, this was very helpful since I am starting exploring. You are a good teacher.
This is THE BEST video tutorial on Bitwarden! I viewed many to learn and prep to teach it, and this one is outstanding. Thank you!!
Thank you, sir. That was really very helpful. I just started using Myki after attending a seminar on online/password security. And I just found out today that it will soon be a dead product. After researching again I figured I'd use Bitwarden. So this tutorial is excellent. Cheers
Man, such a crystal clear video. Thank you so much. This could be the best tutorial / set up video i've ever seen. Thanks again.
Very helpful tutorial. I understood it, which means anyone will understand how to set up Bitwarden. Thanks a MILLION! Saved my life lol
wooh, you are really patient explaining, that makes the lifes of millions easier to understand
Totaly awesome vid. I thought it would be too long but my rec to everyone is watch it, it's worth it.
goodbye lastpass, hello bitwarden!
Kudos, All. Yes, leaving Lastpass on 4-16-2021 -- being an early adopter of it (even giving them email ideas), and I'm going OPENSOURCE ... Today, a new world is opening up.
This is really good, thank you. Much much better than trying to follow the official Bitwarden guide - they make it too complicated for a beginner. I was about to abandon using Bitwarden, until I saw your video. Liked and subscibed.
Great tutorial. Clear. Methodical. Well paced. Better than the info from Bitwarden itself. Good Job!
Wish I had watched your video first! Thank you thank you
Thanks for the video. Can’t tell you how long I’ve been searching for somewhere to store my family recipe 👍
Honestly this is the BEST bitwarden tutorial I could find! 👍👍👍
What a great, clear video! thanks so much!
Very clear and concise tutorial, thank you.
Brilliant, thanks for this, just d/l and installed Bitwarden and this made it so easy to learn to use.
Thanks so much for the great guide. And yes I'm here from lastpass haha
Excellent guide, thank you.
One of the best videos on youtube.
very useful and valueable information. However please note that due to Bitwarden changes over time, the exact fiels and placements are sometimes a bit different, however the logic and information is still very, very useful.
Thank you so much, this was so helpful and informative for me.
Love it, the best and most easy to understand tutorial!
Very good and comprehensive video thanks for sharing
Because off this vid i used it and i like the way it workt
This is exactly what I needed, thank you!
THANK YOU! super well explained!
Great tutorial, just a question, when you generate a password on Bitwarden does it override your original password that you may have had for that particular website?
Thank you for the comprehensive tutorial. I am just starting out with it and so far so good! How do you normally run the extension for unlocking it?
Extremely well done, thanks!
love this guys accent lol
Amazing explanation
Thank you very very much. That is exactly what I needed. Great job!
great video!
Thanks for this video it's so helpful for me.
I'm just wondering is it safe to sign in with google?
for some reason it keeps saying unable to autofill even tho I do have that option enabled. other than that it's been a very good user experience with your video.
TYSM!! you need more subs :D
Thanks for the full tutorial!
Very helpful information!!! Thank you!
This is such a great video, so clear, so nicely paced, no unnecessary information, thank you so much!
Hello there,
firstly, great video! You've explained so much. I just had a question.. I literally have no idea what the "fingerprint-phrase" it meant for. I would appreciate it if you could lmk what it's used for and whether it's important or not. Thanks!
Great video, thanks!!
Thanks for your sharing!
Thanks ,very informative
Very good tutorial
I would like to see a video for using bitwarden across mobile devices like tablet and cellphone.
Very good tutorial!
Just what I needed because I was blind and didn't see autofill in option
Great vid. Very helpful. ...And then I realize mobile is totally different and none of this applies to me. Damn. Still, good job.
Is there a way to share passwords “secretly”? As in, without the recipient seeing the password, but being able to access your login.
No, it comes down to the web browsers and none of them support that. Bitwarden has tricks that will help, but if the user is smart enough (or lucky) they could figure out the password.
This video helped me a lot, thanks.
Thanks so much for this video. Since you deleted your credit card details from chrome does that mean you'll have to manually enter them everytime or can Bitwarden also do this for you?
Bitwarden will fill the credit card info you just need to add it to the card section of Bitwarden.
Do you recommend storing your email password within the password manager?
great video thanks

Great video thank you, very helpful clear guide through the setup process
Hello! How do I change my PIN in the desktop app of Bitwarden? Thanks in advance!
I'm halfway through the vid, but I have a question: will I have to do this for each of my 200 passwords? Or will the Master Password work for each URL? And will I have to open the Bitwarden site each time I want the password? Thanks
Hey. Do u recommend writing all
Our password as backup ( whatever Bitwarden creates) just in case Bitwarden fails one day and we could loose all our passwords all at once,?
Fantastic thx
Very helpful...thanks so much..
very pleasant video thank you
first time trying to get into using a password manager. i do have to go to every site and login and manually 1 by 1 set this up? sure, i have many many accounts somewhere on sites i have never used and probably only really use 10-15 sites that require login.
Yes, you have to go to every site and change its password and save it in the password manager. I suggest starting with the important accounts like your email and banking and then slowly work your way to the other ones.
Thanks for a good guide! Which is the best way to transfer (and upgrade) your passwords when moving to Bitwarden? I understand how to add new ones, but is there a best practice to move over in the smoothest way possible?
Use the import button of the password manager you are using. I changed my PM from LastPass to BitWarden. I transferred all my data from LP using the import button. You can also use the export button of your current password manager.
Watching this had ma craving Starbucks
Great tutorial! Are you able to change your master EMAIL ADDRESS for the Bitwarden account?
Yes. You need to understand some cautions: See this Help instructions on bitwarden.com/help/product-faqs/ or do a search there.
Excellent thank you
Can it save other security related categories such as software licenses, id-cards, wifi password, bank accounts ?
My master password is, this is my master password. No one will ever guess that!
Mine is the same!
If i just use the software on my computer without the browser extension will it be more safer? Are all passwords inside the bitwarden sotware encrypted locally?Since itll not support syncing do i have to manually save passwords on each device if im using the free plan?
just great! Thank you!
good info
Excellent guide; thank you! Do you know if the desktop application keeps a copy of your vault locally? I.e. could you use that to access your vault without an internet connection? (Obviously the vault would not sync unless there was a connection.)
Yes, a local copy is kept but you can't update logins unless you're connected to the internet.
@@passwordbits Thanks!!
thanks for the tut
im confused....whats the difference between downloading the windows App and the web browser. ??
Question how do i stop bitwarden from asking to save my passwords? Like there are some passwords i want saved by google and some saved by bitwarden yk
How does it handle multiple passwords for the same site (e.g. a separate personal email and a home business email that use the email provider)?
I use different gmail accounts for my games and other sites like twitter, reddit, etc. Does it mean that I have to create two Bitwarden accounts? It's my first time using a password manager so i'm kinda confused.
Than you for this video, it was really informative.
From what i understand, once you're on the gmail page, bitwarden will tell you how many logins it has for that site and you pick which one you're going to use. So you would name one login: gaming, another: reddit etc... and it can autofill the correct email address and password
Do you logout every time you leave computer from Bitwarden?
Thank you Mr. Willy Wonka
There is a new icon right of the copy password icon in the login, could you make a video on what it is and how to use it? Thanks.
That is the button to copy your TOTP 2FA code. It's the same thing as what Authy or Google Authenticator does. It's a premium feature and you can learn more here: bitwarden.com/help/article/authenticator-keys/
@@passwordbits I only have the free version, it just popped up a week or two ago, I wonder if there is a skip in the program, or have they added it for everyone?
@@terrybreen3331 Bitwarden just released it a few weeks ago. It will show for everyone but only premium users can get the benefit of it.
@@passwordbits Ok, thanks.
12gallonsifhorseshoeberries. That will be my next password thank you
I don't want to use my old passwords - I'd like for Bitwarden to create some awesome NEW passwords
So just out of curiosity: if you are going to write the master password down and store it in your safe, is it not a better option to not use dictionary words as parts of it but a set of random characters? Or maybe it doesn't matter at this point when we use at least several words with mixed cases, spaces, numbers or some other special characters?
You want to use multiple random words as it's easier to type and less likely to mistype, none of that "is that a 1 or an l". It's also easier to type words on a mobile device with their keyboards too. The reason you write it down is that things happen and if you forget it you're locked out forever. I've created a passphrase cracking calculator if you want to see how long it would take to crack your passphrase here: passwordbits.com/passphrase-cracking-calculator/
@@passwordbits Hey, thanks for a quick answer. I didn't want to prefice my original question with it, but didn't want to appear as an asshole - I am a developer with several years of experience and I was wondering specifically about the words vs random characters argument, but I should just google it first instead of asking right away and wasting your time - sorry. I am not sure whether to bother with something like Yubikey, what is your opinion on that? Thanks for the link, but I don't need it, also which hashing function does it calculate the results for?
@@EpicKillstreak Not wasting my time, I like this stuff. The best place to learn about cracking passwords has been here on RUclips, here is one recent video that I found interesting about cracking long passwords... ruclips.net/video/_bYDbr853Uw/видео.html
Yubikey using U2F is the best protection you can get but most people don't need it. I'm more concern with getting people to use unique and long master passwords first and then email or TOTP 2FA next.
The passphrase cracker goes off PBKDF2 SHA-256 that Bitwarden and most other password manager use. I've included in the post a source for the calculation and how I came to the numbers from real-world examples.
@@passwordbits what would happen if I lost my master password?
@@pongchannel. You would have to start over and create a new account most likely.
I have a question, suppose I have 2-3 accounts for the same website then how can manage autofill?
Thank you for your Bitwarden videos, very helpful for a newbie. Can you use more than 1 email address in Bitwarden? I have 2 personal email accounts and I really don’t want to have 2 Bitwarden accounts.
I'm not sure I understand your question? It's one email address for login per Bitwarden account, you don't need another one. Your other email account doesn't need a Bitwarden account, you can do everything from one. You can store as many email accounts as you want in one Bitwarden account, they're the same as any other online account. Bitwarden only needs an email address for login and to send you alerts.
Thank you for your prompt reply. Sorry I didn’t make it clear in my question. I am new to password managers and was unsure if I could use multiple email address within the one account. I am slowly learning what I need to do and, from what I understand, I would enter the alternate email address when logging in to the website. Thanks again
Can you make a video where you change your email in Bitwarden? I'm having a hard time here since I can't find the input where I put the code I received in my mom's email inbox. Thanks
Can password manager avoid keyloggers or they pickup what it pastes too?
Do you use a Yubikey with Bitwarden?
16:47 what prevents the user to see the actual password clicking on the Eye Icon? :)
Nothing, the user can see their passwords if they want to, you can even see them in your vault.
How do I enable Touch ID to auto fill my password on MacBook?
Is it okay to use your name in your email address?
does the chrome remember the password when we click on the remember password popping up?
The answer to your question is ... YES !! All browsers ask that question, and you should either turn it off in the browser settings, or ALWAYS click on ... NO or NEVER !! To allow any browser to store your passwords, is very UNSAFE !!
What is the install location of BitWarden? I hate programs that do not allow users to choose an install location.
I just installed and tried BitWarden... which did not offer me an option to change or select a location for installation. After the installation, I looked for the install location but could not find one... instead, seemed like it just shat and dumped bits and pieces in various folders all over my system drive. So I immediately uninstalled it without even bothered to create an account or use it. It did not even fully uninstall itself. It left some messes in my hard drive, and I had to manually delete the leftovers.
There are plenty of password managers out there, and I would not suffer an app that does not let me choose an install location and just piss all over and left messes in my hard drive.
please give allotted time for beginners tutorial
if you are using bitwarden password manager, why are you saving passwords in the browser password manager?
You don't. You disable the browser's save password function. I know he covered this but maybe it was in a different video -- this is, after all, a BEGINNERS guide. :-)
