I am always mesmerized by the gentle touch and caress of the wood while you work. It is part of the life and spirit preserved in the final piece. A sign of respect to the tree and care of its legacy.
I love that you showed your fix for the small gaps in the breadboards! Gives me hope for my less than perfect joinery. As always, keep up the great work
I found your channel because one of my videos was being recommended by the RUclips algorithm after someone watched one yours (for a couple hours anyways). So happy I did. Great build and wonderful storytelling Laura. You've got a new fan. Cheers!
I. LOVE. THIS. VIDEO! Gorgeous, project - very well executed. Fantastic shots in the video - extremely well edited. Perfect music choice - fits the mood of the editing exactly. I think it's one of your best, if not the best, so far. I can't wait to see part 2.
THANKS! that is great to hear! i am super happy with th edit as well-this might be one of my favorites too...which is funny because when i started editing this morning i thought i droped the ball on this one :) but to be honest i always think that until the video is finished haha
When I saw those big beautiful slabs of maple I was sick with envy. It is going to be a magnificent table. The bowties were just the thing to add that little pop of contrast, Can't hardly wait for part two
This turning out so beautiful! I can see your passion, your love for what you're doing. And the choice of the music even emphasizes that. Thank you for sharing this, Laura.
I think it's your artistry, music, and execution that has me so looking forward to your videos, oh of course your dog who's name I always forget, sorry because she'/he is adorable. I have been unwell for 7 years and unable to work with my hands as I love doing so i guess I live it through your hands.
The top is looking fantastic Laura. I really like the bows for the split too. Cant wait to see the rest of the build. I love the track saw, they are a great tool to have and they are so versatile. Thanks for sharing!
Looks great so far - the thick table top and the live edge look awesome. And great, great atmosphere due to the excellent music choice. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful Laura! We are about to start a dining table project and wanted some live edge somewhere, love how you put it on the breadboard ends only.....might swipe that idea.
Amazing work, the idea of the "stitches" in the crack of the wood was awesome! And it gives a lot of style and personality with a really subtle detail. Thanks for the video. Greetings from Argentina.
Loved the bow ties. Reminded me of stitches I had in my arm at one time. I still have the scars and people comment about them. They were once necessary and are now decorative. Such a good vibe in this video.
+Laura Kampf yup, but don't forget the editing. As the music plays you can't pauze, delay, timeshift it. So therefore you need to search the right clips and time them right. If done right you get a video, just like yours!
I have loved every video that I've watched by you. Love love the end product and the journey to get there. Great sound tracks! Keep up the awesome work!!!! So much creative inspiration, thank you!
So, Laura - there is just making and there is art. This is art, magnificent. And to echo Mark's comment - this is among your best, in both form and content. You are growing!
I always enjoy your videos. They are calming and inspiring at the same time. Great music selection and great editing and, of course, a beautiful table. You are one of the few people I watch at 1x speed. :)
I agree with Frank Big L! That was a GREAT Story being told right there! The Base HAS to be Steel! For the contrast of the Two materials. Softness of the Wood offsets the cold rigidness of the Steel. It will show that You tamed both materials and brought them together as Art...that's Functional.... (In my humble opinion) Much Love Big L! Have A Super Week!..... Gus
thanks gus! i agree. steel would be the right choice for this one! also i want to learn how to stick weld-this might be the perfect project for that. thank you
Really like the way you always find a way to make the defects be the "one more thing" of your works. Very very good work. (fan from the very beginning :) )
Wow! So much to like about this one. I really like the asymmetric bowties. The shape of them is cool and playful, but I especially like your decision to place them up in the corner of the table. It's a real nice highlight that contrasts well with the maple. Well done! The live edge breadboards turned out great too! Bring on part 2!! =)
I love that you've made the crack in the top a feature, making tint stitches to hold it together! That's really really beautiful, makes the wood look even more alive and organic :D Can't wait for part two! Edit: Tiny stitches! :P
3 thumbs down .... Why ? People never seem to disappoint , great work "L love the project and the track you put to it is kicking , it is you !! Stunning thank you
oh well...i had WAY more thumbs down for other videos...some people are just very narrow minded. i don´t care too much about it :) i do care about all the nice comments much much more :) thank you
Laura, this video and part two served as inspiration for a maple nightstand a friend wanted me to make. I didn't do a build video, but I'll tag you when I post it to Instagram in a couple days. It's a birthday present so I had to build it on the sly and can't post it till I give it to him.
Table is coming out nicely. you are very talented, i hope to meet you one day. i enjoy your vids and show my daughter them to inspire her to do anything she puts her mind to.
Guten morgen laura, gutes Werkzeug schafft tolle Ergebnisse. deinen " Hammer " abricht / dickenhobel hätte ich auch gern. freu mich schon auf teil 2. Gruß David
Laura you are my model, guide, pattern for wood working! With very deep respect. 🙏
I am always mesmerized by the gentle touch and caress of the wood while you work. It is part of the life and spirit preserved in the final piece. A sign of respect to the tree and care of its legacy.
absolutely! i think it´s wonderful to see and feel the wood change with every hour of work you put into it!
These bowties are absolutely amazing. Small, subtle and so enriching. Truely an amazing work.
I could just keep watching, and watching... brilliant. I'm rapidly falling for festool too.
Cheers!

Laura Kampf No, I think you really got it spot on this time. Not to say your other videos aren't good too. This one is just my favorite.

Hier sieht man wieviel Liebe du in deine Arbeit steckst. Ganz tolle Arbeit. Wunderschöne Tischplatte!

Live-edge bread-board ends. BRILLIANT!! Can't wait to see it completed!!

I think it's your artistry, music, and execution that has me so looking forward to your videos, oh of course your dog who's name I always forget, sorry because she'/he is adorable. Very impressed by your work and level of detail. Thanx for showing.
Yes, can't wait to see what you decide to do for the base. Definitely some sort of decorative metal based on your style.
i am thinking metal as well...we will see...maybe some color this time :)
The top is looking fantastic Laura. I really like the bows for the split too. Cant wait to see the rest of the build. I love the track saw, they are a great tool to have and they are so versatile. Thanks for sharing!

thanks man! ha, yeah, the bowties do look a bit like stiches. sorry about your arm - but i think scares are kinda cool :)
I like you videos, the music and mostly your workmanship or we should say workwomanship 🙂. You and the Samari are great to watch and learn from.
I really love the uneven butterfly keys (bowties). They look fantastic.
Table is looking good, Laura. Love the dutchmen/bow ties/butterflies (choose one!) inlay. And as always, the production is excellent. Well done. Troy
