Great story. Unusual ending. I love these radio mysteries and all the sound effects. You need them when you are listening and not seeing. It builds the picture in your mind. Thanks so much for sharing this gem.
This same thing actually happened to my great aunt in the late 1930s. She and her husband and their infant baby girl attempted to drive over Boulder Mountain in southern Utah on Christmas Eve. A sudden snowstorm hit and they were stranded. They headed out and had a down pillow they cut open and put the baby inside to keep her warm. Neither one was dressed for the weather. They tried to make it to a ranger station where they knew there was a phone, but when they got there it had been disconnected. They went further and my aunt who was only 17 couldn't feel her feet anymore and had to stop. Her husband tried three times to light a fire to get them warm, but every time they tried the wind blew it out. Finally on the last match snow from her husband's hat fell on the match and it went out. He decided to leave her and see if he could make it faster on his own for help in the town where her parents who they were going to visit for Christmas lived. They were going to surprise them so know one knew they were even coming. He did make it there and got help from my grandfather and headed back up. Sadly when they got there Asenith had froze to death. She had taken off her coat to keep the baby warm who survived. There is a monument on that mountain in her honor today. ❤
Unbelievably great acting by these two🏆 I felt like I was a silent witness in the room with them 😲 I enjoyed listening to this very much 👍🏼 Thank you 🙏🏼❤️
Very good and thanx for putting the years on too as I always wonder when there from!!! Can't thank u enuff for uploading these, u r a good guy and it's quite sad that radio isn't as prevalent and powerful as it used to be but with so many mediums to choose from, then no wonder!!! With people like us and u who still find radio alluring then long live radio plus a massive hand to you tube as without this we wouldn't be here leaving comments and listening to absolute bloody classic radio!!!! Sorry I've gone on but it's important to me!!
I think appeals to those who still have an imagination. Today people are to lazy to indulge their imagination. Unless they want to be mean or selfish. It’s a nice little way to slow down in a world that moves way too fast today.
I love these cryptic out of left field masterpieces. This one and the "Son Of Satan" is my favorite so far,and most of them are brilliant at their weakest. God,how I miss the literate and self composed America that produced such masterful fiction.
YES!-Now, you’re talking. These sort of programs are like the cars America produced decades ago. Back then each model was built on its OWN chassis and its styling was unique to that particular model. Like these programs, it took lots of work to turn each one out, year, after year.
I know Im randomly asking but does anyone know of a tool to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost the account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me
My brain works so very well w/ these old radio stories! I can very easily visualize every scene like my own movie. I do enjoy them! *brain therapy* for me. Todays TV & radio together aren’t as good as these radio mysteries. We’ve lost something w/ all of our modern progress. Lack of Imagination & listening skills. *Thanks for uploading to RUclips! 👍🇺🇸
CBSRMT never set a high bar in the story department, so you can be sure this one is one of their best. It doesn't hurt that the acting and atmosphere are so good.
interesting you say that. i've also listened to this story the second time now. after the first time i had the same problem you are describing. but after the second time i liked the open ending much more. on the one hand it's not that open - we have all the pieces we need to imagine what probably will happen. on the other hand this kind of ending makes you think much more about the story. like with many true crime cases: there's no satisfying conclusion. those cases often impact you much more than solved ones. even if the police pretty much knows who the killer is, in many cases there's not enough conclusive evidence. then there are also many cases where we'll simply never know, if it was a murder or if it really was just an accident. so it's just logical that in hundreds of mystery theater episodes some of them also don't provide a clear conclusion. just like real life. greetings from germany :)
The ending was a shocker. I honestly didn’t anticipate EG Marshall stepping out from behind a tree with an ax and doing in Martha, Ken and the sheriff. He gave them all 40 whacks just like Lizzie Borden. A bit overkill but sometimes that how it goes in the world of showbiz.
@@vonniebristow So true. Like nowadays on tv….the female always takes a shower w/a clear glass door, just to make it more “exciting”, becuz the plot is so weak….😟
You make it seem like a bad thing. If you don’t have imagination that’s ok you can borrow mine. They begin their journey to the car. The wife (I can’t remember her name) is worried frantically think of what she will do if her husband infects leaves her to freeze to death. They don’t speak as they are walking. Between the silence and her thoughts it becomes to much to bare she begins to struggle despite how exhausted and cold she is. Her husband asks her to stop. He pleads for her to stop in the near distance the officer here’s the husbands shouts he picks up the pace he makes it through the clearing just in time to see the husband struggling to keep his wife in his arms and she’s fighting him. Just as the officer was going to call out the husband looses his balance and his grip on his wife she hurdles down the a hill through the mountains. Both men are in shock. The husband explains it all to the officer which he believe because he had witnessed the event unfold. They call out for the wife no answer. They quickly was careful make a pathway to where she fell only to discover her dead she must have broken her neck during the fall. The husband is taken back overcome with grief because after all this the murder the secrets and lies he still manages to lose his wife. One might argue that it was no accident. That the struggle going on was actually his wife trying to hold on for dear life while the husband tried to do say with her. I guess we will never know:…….
I lived on Lake Erie my entire life where it snowed from November thru May and blizzards were common. I never heard howling winds consistently blowing! Why did the sound effects folks back in the radio days feel it was necessary to overpower the dialogue with annoying and unrealistic sounds (wind, thunder, dogs howling, etc.)? So distracting.
I haven't had to shovel snow since 91, LOL They really did over do it with the howling wind. Just proves how the entertainment industry didn't and still don't know reality and have to be over dramatic. Just like music when the instruments drowned out the vocals. What is being said or sung needs to be heard or what's the since of listening. This was made back in 75. Back then the rock bands had loud instruments and drowned out the vocals. I use to yell at the radio, "Hey idiots, I want to hear the words", LOL
Nah. It's an open-ender. Do you believe Ken when he says he loves his wife too much to kill her? Or do you believe a murderer would do anything -- even kill the one person he loves -- to ensure his own freedom stays in tact?

And the actors include two Joans and two Roberts. Great episode, thank you!
Nice painting. Better than what Bob Ross would have painted in half an hour, but plenty of happy little trees.
winter is the best season of the year in my opinion
Quiet night dark and a full moon to see for miles.
Nick Name oh , me too !!
Touché Sir, Touché
Incorrect. There is no "best" season. They all suck balls.
@Frank F Kling winter😰

They are great stories.Thx
If anyone your with ever says"We'll make it" after a local says dont go, just slap that person right in the face.
Lol. Thanks for that🤗❤️
Probably my favorite one.
Fantastic script & play

6-17-20. Good show. Thanks Chilly!
Completely awesome picture.
I just discovered this channel. Yippy!
I rented a cabin much like this one on a lake in North Georgia . It was great I did some canoeing and the fishing was good too
Definitely my favorite story----
I love the ending and how it leaves it to your imagination. When the ghostly Claudia and Ken were speaking, I thought the real Ken would disappear.
SPOILER!
hehe. You never know.
Very enjoyable and well done. Thanks
Remember listening to this with my brother.
🙏where is your brother today🙏🙏❤?
@@tamarikimani5701 ohhh just Ga. He is still with us, both of us are adults now tho, so we don’t tend to listen to old time radio together any more.
Well found one that creeped me out.
Thank you Chilly, tonight we have rather aptly for a mid winter log cabin setting hotchocolate and crumpets to enjoy with tonight's stories
Fall is the best season for me in Texas
Thank you
Thanks so much, this was an especially good one!
Good every episode

I see a shadow inside the cabin. Something suspicious going on here.
Extremely good
Want an early start and then set the alarm for 7:30?.... what are they, 16?
LOL!!!😂
Good one! But no bathroom?? "Living room, kitchen, utility room and bedroom, that's all the rooms."
...outhouse
What we used to call " four rooms and path"😝
Violet Femme They didn’t mention such private subjects back then. And never ever did anyone cuss! Way different times.
Havnt listened to the end yet, but if they survive i wld divorce that husband
@@vonniebristow So true. Like nowadays on tv….the female always takes a shower w/a clear glass door, just to make it more “exciting”, becuz the plot is so weak….😟
Harrison Ford made this similar story in a movie
Yes, the movie was called, what lies beneath. Michelle Pfeiffer was also in the movie, too. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Stay home!!!!
THATS IT NO ENDING WHAT KIND OF STORY IS THAT!
Hot Pepper right, how frustrating
I'm not very fond of those kind of endings
❤❤❤❤❤from England 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
After all that, they just leave it up to the audience to decide. 😒

Them darn Sasquatch's
Well, what else was Ken supposed to do?
Stop cheating on Martha
Ugh! What a horrible ending!
Ken's 1 hard headed bastard
2 million dollar piece of real estate
It depend on which state you're in . You can get property like this for less than 250k
I really dislike cliff hangers.
Awesome 👏
What a let down ending!!
No ending at all. I want CLOSURE
Still love this un'
A couple of dumb people trying to make it to that cabin in that kind of weather and they have to go back to the car for food!? Dumb. 😳
This guy is a real piece of work. Lol...
"The Lady or the Tiger"...
Good one !!💙💕
Great...
Good title for this story.
The description calls them "the Maxwell couple", but in the story they are the Harris couple.
Am I missing something?
Harris is short for Maxwell, silly.
One of the actors last name is Maxwell, assuming it was just an oversight.
I was going to comment the same thing. It was definitely a typo.
"If Your In Bed Stay There, If Not Go On Back"! 7:21
Thank you, may I request if possible decrease the background music there are times I can't hear the dialogue esp where the *Claudia *illusion spoke
Wow, now if they had only thought to give the story an ending!
They did think about it....
You have to use your imagination. From Ms. Harper Stacey.

Who wants reality? I want to be entertained. So what if it's a little overdramatic and cheesy, it was a different era.
That’s right! 😶🌫️
It isn’t a distraction to me. Besides the first second I don’t even hear it anymore. It gives the story character
Hey where is part two of this?
Did Ken plan to kill Martha?
What that’s a little creepy
Ending?
You heard it
Now that's so not right. Pissy ending.
It's not a pissy ending. You have to use your imagination to figure out the ending. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
I'm 22 mins in and he killed Claudia. Tell tell heart much?
Great story but what a crappy finale.
Nah. It's an open-ender. Do you believe Ken when he says he loves his wife too much to kill her? Or do you believe a murderer would do anything -- even kill the one person he loves -- to ensure his own freedom stays in tact?
Who needs this when you have the left wing of the Democrat party?
